TOOL039V
Dave Spoon / Paul Harris / Sam Obernik : Baditude : Toolroom : 12"
Intense anticipation from DJs & clubbers across the world surrounds the monumental new single from Dave Spoon, Paul Harris and Sam Obernik. Each a hugely talented individual artist, these three have spawned some of the biggest hits of past years… The merging of their separate sparks has created 2008’s ULTIMATE summer smash that will sear its imprint into dancefloors, festivals and party destinations across the globe this year.  “BADITUDE” is a ballsy, sexy, white-hot hymn to hedonism! A hyperactive whirlwind of driving bass, pulsing beats and streaks of sun-lit guitar, the track bounces like a ten-tonne baby under Sam Obernik’s raw, sassy vocals. “DJ, do it again, from Boujis to DC10, Tokyo back to The End… Viva La Baditude!” It’s the explosive, sun-drenched soundtrack to party-fuelled days & beat-filled sleepless nights… in this one track you can feel the madness of the summer commence!  The track was given the supreme honour of being crowned “Essential New Tune” the week before the glittering annual Miami WMC, and was the signature tune of Radio 1’s prestigious on-air pool party & countless other parties during the conference, which followed weeks of radio play from Pete Tong & Vernon Kay. With the industry’s leading players solidly behind it, “Baditude” tore through the conference to become the anthem of the week, and is now set to blow the world’s dancefloors into smithereens with a full release!

FR104
Lars Behenroth : Ice On The Sun / Charles Webster, Atjazz Rmx : Freerange 12"
On his Freerange debut Lars has pulled out the stops to produce two tracks of forward thinking electronic club music. Also features an awesome remix by Version aka Charles Webster and Atjazz.
First up we have ‘Ice On The Sun’, a sublime slice of minimal deep house that retains an understated energy whilst filters slowly open and close to build the arrangement. A real slow burner that’ll warm things up nicely or create a nice bit of space in your set wherever you choose to drop it.
‘Feel The Sunshine’ is up next and treads a similar path but with the addition of some nice vocal hooks and all important Detroitesque synth lines layering things up. The key to Lars sound is his stripped back approach to production where he keeps all the elements as dry as possible for maximum sonic impact.
The legends that are Charles Webster and Atjazz get busy with their Version remix of ‘Ice On the Sun’, turning in a supremely confident belter of a track. This is a heads down groover that builds nicely and is loaded with attitude and dancefloor-pleasing sensibility.
Lars has developed his production skills over the past 10 years accumulating an impressive discography over a variety of labels including Chez Music, Deep4Life, Compost, Sonar Kollektiv and most recently Liebe*Detail.  He has also remixed artists such as Kathy Brown, The Rurals, Deep Swing, Dubtribe, MJ Cole, Alma Horton, Slope, Arnold Jarvis, Sven Weisemann and more.
“Pure quality throughout” - Shur-i-kan. “Ice on the Sun’ is one killer tune. Straight into my sets. Thanks” – Peter Kruder.

NRK135R
Nick Holder Feat  Sacha : Time ( Wahoo/ Manel Tur Mixes) : Nrk : 12"
Nick Holder’s recent underground vocal cut ‘Time’ gets the European remix treatment from Wahoo (aka Dixon) and Manuel Tur.
Nick Holder continues an excellent run in 2008 with this remix package of his single ‘Time’, a cut already championed by Gilles Peterson. Featuring Sacha on vocals, this deep vocal house cut gets the remix treatment from two Europeans, namely Wahoo (aka Dixon and Georg Levin) and Manuel Tur. Wahoo weigh in with a solid vocal remix - a sophisticated production from Dixon and Georg Levin that will appeal to deep house and jazzier heads alike. Wahoo have notched up some excellent productions on Sonar Kollectiv, Defected and Fine, as well as remixing for Ben Westbeech and Jazzanova.
Dixon also runs the highly respected Innervisions label.
Another German producer turns out two alternate mixes - Manuel Tur is building a great profile right now with releases on Freerange, Agave and Smokestack. Tur’s dub mix is an ultra deep excursion, with delayed vocals, heavy stabs and thick swirling chords, coming across like Dave Clarke’s ‘Red 1’ on minus 8. One for the early mornings. A vocal mix is also included here with melancholic horns and pianos making their way into the production.
Press – Reviews in iDJ Magazine, DJ Magazine, M8 Magazine, Mixmag, Clash, Our House Magazine, Hot Press, DMC Update, Touch, Night, Notion and EQ Magazine.
Radio – Plays from Pete Tong (BBC Radio 1) & Paul Hamill (BBC Ulster), Dave Mothersole (Kiss FM) and Huggy & Stevie Sole Middleton (Beat 106).

Jessi Jaymz : The Hardway EP / Jus Ed RMX : Nylon Trax : 12"
Jessi Jaymz is a collaboration of Jessi Colasante and Jaymz Nylon that will fill the need for quality songs in independent dance music. Excitement, warmth and soul stirring are pretty great starting points to describe this duo…  Jessi realized that music was her calling and God given gift that she needed to share with  the world. Colasante studied Classical music at Nassau Community College and then Jazz at New School Jazz & Contemporary Program.  She sang on Anton Bass of Karmadelic's album under the Jellybean label.  Jessi has also worked on projects with John Kano aka Havana Funk, which led to having a track signed with Defected records to be released in the fall.  Colasante continues to record with many other producers on various styles of music.  Jessi has most recently joined the NYC based band called Dreemtime.  Colasante is most importantly recording her own  album,  which features of Soulful vocals over spicy rhythms.  Jessi's music consists of many styles such as Jazz, Soul House, Soul, Gospel, Samba, Latin, Funk, Reggae, Brazilian, etc.  Colasante's lyrics speak of life, pain, love, peace, strength, and weaknesses, present, past and future.  Through the music she shares her soul, her experiences and her life with the universe. Jaymz Nylon's brilliant production continues to shine brighter upon each of his releases and will keep you focused on this EP & beyond.  Jus-Ed also sprinkles his magic dust on the deeply serious Underground Quality remix...

Jaymz Nylon feat.  Kyla Sexton : Lonely / Lars Behrenroth RMX : Nylon Trax : 12"
Jaymz Nylon's latest collaboration is with Aussie Sensation Kyla Sexton. Kyla's vocal prowess is reminiscent of British super group Electribe 101's vocalist Billy Ray Martin but with a spirit and warmth all it's own. "Lonely" leaves each listener with no feelings of loneliness whatsoever by wrapping them in an elegant and luscious sounds cape.... On the remix we have the multi-talented German born-Los Angeles based Lars Behrenroth of Deeper Shades who's remix will keep the dance floor packed time and time again. Up next we have AEB(Andrew Edward Brown) of Champion Soul/Afropsychopathz (Lifeline, Sunshine, Goya) comin' at you with a left hook that will satisfy the abstract heads stretching from Detroit-West London-Japan... This release is essential, you have to cop one.

ASS008
Easily Influenced : Funkshunizeya : A Second Smell : 12"
Another fresh duo releasing their debut on European soil and joining the ‘smelly’-family. LA hipsters of the moment Mikey Velasquez and Gelly Kusuma are Easily Influenced. Since 2006 these cats are very active towards the underground house scene in LA with their HAWT movement and their notorious parties and recently they also started their own HAWT music imprint. ‘Funkshunizeya’ isn’t too easy to pronounce but then again the more easier to dance too. Expect pure party mayhem and ‘hands in the air-moments’ like we are used to serve you on ‘A Second Smell’. In other words serious funky house peak time action! B-side cut ‘What it is yo’ keeps up that tradition with a little dirtier groove that will appeal to all D.C.-fans and everyone that likes to jack his body.

Giano : WJSD EP (Fred Everything & JT Donaldson) : Lazy Days : 12"
Fred Everything’s San Francisco based label Lazy Days is fast approaching its tenth release, but just find time to squeeze in a little Latin flavour which is sure to hit all the right notes at Miami and into the summer. Fred’s recent move to California from Montreal sees him bring Ian Lujan, aka Giano, into the fold for an EP that has the Canadian transplant very excited: “It’s a serious monster of a track. The best Latin house track I've heard in ages.” Giano is based in Fresno, California. A talented producer, he is influenced by a wide variety of sounds ranging from jazz to house to hip hop and downtempo and runs his own label Italiano Recordings which has so far released his own “Inside Toke EP” The main track on Lazy Day’s ninth release, ‘WJSD’ was introduced to Fred by Chicago legend DJ Diz, who then put the two in contact with each other. Don’t let the beginning of the track fool you, this is one takes you on a journey. It’s all about that Latin break in the middle which is reminiscent of Freeform 5’s epic remix of Beau Mot Plage. As such it has already been a firm favourite with Jay J, Johnny Fiasco and of course Diz and Fred. Flip for Rumba Papaya, another latin influenced track. This time Giano twiddles the knobs as he remixes an original track from Russian Eugene Morriarti Poley. On the remix tip, fresh from their successful EP on Lazy Days, Fred Everything once again teams up with JT Donaldson to turn in a simple latin beatdown, based around the middle part of the original, straight to the point.

RC Groove feat K Ladawn : Too Much For Me (Samir Maslo Remixes) : Peppermint Jam : 12"
Unbelievable how time has been flying since this track was presented as part of the "Peppermint Jam WMC 2006 Sampler". Now finally this Ron Carroll production will get a full release. "Too Much 4 Me" is a fiercely thumpin' production featuring sultry vocals courtesy of K. Ladawn, a hot funky guitar riff, jazzy saxophone and wicked keys in its original form. Sean McCabe's 'Afternoon Sax Dub' somewhat relaxes the vibe and puts the sax centre stage to create a more laidback vibe, while So Phat go all electronic on their take. The Rurals add the fierce 'Lounge Melodious Mix' to the package, a deep soulful take that is all about wonderful melodies. Closing the package is Samir Maslo with his energetic, slightly electrofied mixes that will take the bigger rooms by storm.

ZoëXenia : Uncovered Ep / Brendon Moeller Remix : Connaisseur : 12"
ZoëXenia is back on Connaisseur, this time with an EP, produced by her alone. Already her track “Cherish” on the split “Sweet Dreams EP” together with Estroe in Autumn 2007 was a big success for which we received amazing feedback. The track was House Tune Of The Month in Mixmag Magazine in October. “Uncovered” is an EP about openness - looking deep into a pair of eyes, open space, naked bodies and words of truth. Eventhough the motif is focused in such a concrete way, this release surprises with its versatility: will find beauty, dirt and heartache. “NU” is a wonderfully positive House tune with subtle Dubinfluences. The whistling main theme running through the track as a major thread is captivating and catchy. “Brendon Moeller” – NYC’s dub specialist and man of the moment with his releases on the excellent Third Ear imprint, turnes “NU” into a really crazy dub-monster. His “Filthy Dub” features a great driving groove and trippin pitch effects. “Watching Over Spacelines…Fly Away” is a great floating tune somewhere between House and Techno. Eventhough the groove is really deep, it suggest an uplifting feeling…like flying over incredible scenery. “Into Deep” – what a wonderful pearl

FREU001
Philip Flindt : Forward / Gui Boratto Remix : Freunde Tontraeger : 12"
The Copenhagen DJ and producer Philip Flindt has two 12" EPs to his credit under the pseudonym LOPHI and was featured with a track on the Agoria Mix CD. Since then he has been considered one of the greatest talents in the Danish techno scene. His solo debut on Freunde Tontraeger shows why this expectation follows him. With "Forward" he has succeeded with a grooving minimal track which exudes the charm of old CDs and hard drives with a grating bass line. An artful opening of the filter loads the track with so much energy that it is guaranteed to electrify the dancefloor. FORWARD (Gui Boratto Remix) The Brazilian mastermind Gui Boratto (Kompakt / Audiomatique) takes things head-on: With even deeper bass and a cut from the original pad, the remix literally moves "forward" with nearly overwhelming power before it transitions to a second part to which one surrenders without resistance. The EP is a "must" for enthusiasts and aficionados of minimalistic techno tracks.

Gregor Tresher : Break New Soil / Daniel Stefanik Remix : Moon Harbour : 12"
The New Moon Harbour release will be a surprise for a lot of electronic music fans. Gregor Tresher doesn´t take the musical limits between Techno and House too serious. So he doesn´t care about being one of Europe’s best Techno producer and cooperate in the same moment with a house label. Tresher is very opened with Techno music since a few years. He has releases on Great Stuff and Rebel One, and became more interesting for the whole scene. Right now he is one of the best booked Artist in Europe. Treshers debut on Moon harbour shows his deep and minimal side as a musician. But beside that, he still sticks with “Break new soil” on his musical straightness to the dance floor. On the B – side you will find Daniel Stefanik with his musical skills. The “Break New Soil” Remix is light, casual and discreet with its vocals and melodies.

MUPA008
Sam The Mummy : Untitled 1 : Mupa : 12"
Sam the Mummy lives in the deepest catacombs of his existence. Hardly ever he can be seen on the surface and just a few ones have the ‘honor’ of knowing him. Even stranger it is his relationship with Damián Schwartz, the only person allowed to listen and disclose his awesome and disturbing works. Here is the first one: Untitled1 (Mupa008). It starts with Cradle, a brief but captivating prologue. And from the cradle to the grave, here comes Untuned (interview), where Sam introduces us in his most personal universe, crumbling his darkest secrets. Soon we can see what he’s up to, because despite of appearing as a hard and cold guy, on the very first beats he reveals pure soul music. Tireless groove with magnificent salsa touches, bittersweet cymbals and congas that run with an intimidating elegance. On B side, Pharaon's cat introduces Stand Up. Little by little, it steps into a background of hypnotic and jazzy sequences accompanied by aristocratic piano notes that try to break into, but can only go out on tiptoes. So smart and so danceable at the same time.

RE004
Martinez : Re:connected 4 : Re:connected : 12"
Fresh and on form after his very well-received second longer player „A Chemical Imbalance“ that was released on re:connected in november last year, Martinez is back again with the 4th installment in his re:connected series. He delivers yet two more slamming techno tracks . The 12“ starts off with a track called „Expander“, which is a power full techno monster. Driven by a strong rolling baseline hook which (as the title suggests) just expands and expands thru out the track into a heavenly climax! This track is sure to rock any dance floor and it has already proven this point when Martinez dropped it in his DJ set at the closing party of Amnesia in Ibiza this summer and the dancefloor just exploded. On the B-side Maritnez offers something more subtle and deep, but still with a strong and memorable hook melody. The track called „Rotation“ is a dark hypnotic minimal affair. With a deep and pounding 808 kick drum, a heavy sub bass and some well laid down melodies, this is a perfect moment for the warm up of the club night or fort he late afterhours

Monika Kruse : Changes Of Perception Part 1 : Terminal M : 12"
We're proud to present part 1 in a series of 3, that Monika who was recently voted to the top 4 of Raveline's National DJ's, co-produced this with Gregor Tresher - Raveline's top producer of the year in 2006 and 2007! The first part of the vinyl-series will be available 02 April. On the A-side "Changes of Perception Part 1" is adorned by the title track of the album. It really fits with the name since the listener gets captured by the hypnotic sound of a single wooden click at the beginning of the track, whereas in the middle of the track a dark bassline creates a great tension pushing forward in several thrusts until it almost peaks out. But just before it drifts into aggressiveness it changes it's direction like making a u-turn, eases the tension and leaves you with a ghostly clicksound which already set the tone at the beginning of the track and spreads over the whole piece. This click also appears on the B side of Marek Hemmann's remix. But he tinkers a happy percussion line out of it. The outcome is a knotless house-track in which happiness and playfulness come together to create a deepness and dirtyness. …

MOOD-LIMX1
Sassomatic : Basic Needs : Mood Music : 12"
Label head honcho Sasse delivers 3 dirty tracks for the floor on the new Moodmusic Digital release. For the vinyl fans we also do a strictly limited pressing of this release. “Butta” builds up slowly with shuffling sharp beats and a deep bass reminding of early Ibadan style groovers , growing into a monster synth laden orchestral orgasm with percussive elements flowing in and out of the mix. Dirtie is more of the early 90s flavoured house which Sasse masters so well. Kicking beats and a quirky bassline from his beloved Elka Synthex analog monster plunges the track into full floor mode, bringing later some warm strings to sooth your soul. Physics is the real old schooler here, a simple beat-bass groover which kicks ass on the floor building the perfect ground for a filtered, dirty synth stab running into madness before some hypnotic strings drops in and breaks the track for a final climax. Nake Sharco : Python Cowgirls (Mike Shannon / Nacho Marco Remixes) : Was Not Was : 12"
Nake Sharco is not the name of a mean, dangerous bounty hunter with a big-ass mohawk and bizeps like ox thighs but stands for the unexpected collaboration of premium canadian techno auteur MIKE SHANNON ( Cynorsure ) and spanish purveyor of elegant deephouse and Loudeast label boss NACHO MARCO, who are nevertheless out to nail down some punters and lock them on the floor with this powerful 3 tracker. During a longer sojourn of Mike in Valencia both producers got together and obviously found a common denominator in classic Chicago House since the original version of “Python Cowgirl” with it’s back massaging rubber bassline, the nervous swinging hi-hats and the simple yet spirited melody dissolves the supposed oppossition of raw energy and meditativeness after the recipe of lets say vintage Cajual releases or early Glenn Underground productions. both artists then give interpretations in their individual style with MIKE SHANNON displaying his diamond-edged production skills with a freaky, polyrhythmic take, while Nacho Marco follows in the vein of his recent Freerange debut with a remix that seasons no-nonsense house beats with Aril Brikha-style detroit techno chords. resistance is futile, give yourself up to Nake Sharco!

Namlook Vs Pepe Braddock : Subharmonic Atoms (Pepe Braddock Remix) : Macro Recordings : 12"
An incredible EP with Namlook exploring the edges of minimal Techno and deep Ambient, while the remixes are Pepe Bradock’s most dancefloor oriented works in ages! Macro delivers a stunning release by a man who has not only produced 3 collaborational albums with Richie Hawtin, but also runs the ultra influential FAX label with an artist roster ranging from Speedy J to Bill Laswell to Klaus Schulze: Namlook is a true electronic pioneer in a league of his own. The track “Subharmonic Atoms” was produced back in 1995 and is re-released by Macro as a long out of print electronic prototype on the edge of Minimal Techno and Ambient. But don’t think this is a retro affair: Subharmonic Atoms sounds incredibly fresh and proves it is as groundbreaking, innovative and timeless as Jeff Mills’ early Axis works or Hawtin’s Concept1 series. Entirely remastered from the original source and cut in unparalleled sound quality, it is available on a single 12″ side for the first time ever. The release is completed with nothing short but French remix master Pepe Bradock’s triumphant return to the dancefloor. Hot on the heels of acclaimed releases for Four:Twenty, Dessous, Sonar Kollektiv, Buzzin’ Fly and his own Diynamic usic, house producer du jour Mladen Solomun returns with his second stunning single for Dessous after the sublime ‘Sambada EP’. ‘Woodstep’ is a percussive trip to the heart of house, a tech-tinged groove peppered with strange tribal rhythms, evoking a midnight trek into the sultry tropical rainforest. On the fl ip, ‘No Comment’, an analogue bubblebath of a bassline propels a techier cut, where Detroit washes do battle with stepping keys, a crisp beat and belches of hissing smoke. Halfway through, a spoken word sample ushers in lush echoic piano chords, taking the track to the next level. Lee Jones : As You Like It (Recloose Remix) : Aus Music : 12"
Essex bred Lee Jones lived in London until 2002, where he was producing and remixing as the downtempo/ nu-jazz artist Hefner. After following his heart to Berlin, he was inspired by the music and clubs to move into a new production style and for the past 3 years he’s been the creative production force behind My My whose debut album ‘Songs For The Gentle’ made waves across the globe. 2008 will see a number of solo releases from Lee, he’s also planning to complete his second Hefner album and has begun work on a new album with Nick Höppner as My My. As You Like It: A crisp lead melody leads us by the hand into a full on old school Chicago stab fest. Lee’s typically intricate tom pattern nestles underneath the taught drums keeping the rhythm section bouncing along. Yes, it is indeed how we like it! Perhaps Lee’s most peak time record to date. Recloose Remix: A real summer treat come early from Recloose. The first remix he’s done in years and we feel proud to be the recipients. Matt reinterprets Lee’s stabs and adds his own p-funk infused live bassline and chords which totally change the vibe. In the the words of Jimpster…’A mutoid boogie rinse out’. Well put. The Ice Train Cometh: Shimmering pads are intertwined with snippets of a female vocal eq’ed to sound eerily icey. Only Lee could make this eighties bass sound feel so contemporary. Matthew Chicoine, aka Recloose, made his name signed to the fantastic Planet E label over the past decade. Having studied music at Ann Arbor and cut his teeth as a college DJ, Recloose went on to be a turntablist for Carl Craig’s Innerzone Orchestra, the esoteric Uri Caine Ensemble, globe-trotting far and wide to collect music influences. Recloose released his debut album ‘Cardiology’ in 2002 and then fell in love with New Zealand and relocated there. The result is a topnotch compilatIon for the first half of 2008 which crowns the label‘s catalogue so far. Highgrades headhoncho Tom Clark starts the circle self-confidently with „nightgods“ - a hypnotic heavyweight of a track, heading with dark vocals and precise synthlines straight forward to the dancefloor. With „quite“ Highgrade‘s alpha-team Format:B is keeping the energy level high by combining a pushing sub-bassline with dubby offbeat organs while they get their trademark tom-sounds grooving like there‘s no tomorrow! The tracks „true lies“ by Heinrichs & Hirtenfellner and „get restless“ by Tom Clark, Daniel Dreier and Jens Bond prove how to get things cracking with well balanced grooves the easy way. Just before Jens Bond drops a percussive masterpiece called „wasted“ and Sven Brede comes along with „anic“ which starts with a funk dry as a bone just before the track get‘s lifted up by shimmering chords and some engrossed melodies. Highgrade-veteran Todd Bodine let‘s the bongos roll and the synthlines freak out with „too late“ untill Phage & Daniel Dreier with „korgi morgi“ once again set a monument for their inimitably dodgy grooves. Finishing this fine bunch of tracks - which is in the truest sense of the word: high grade! So let‘s go for the next 50! The whole thing is available on double 12″ or as a compilation CD with three Bonus Tracks mixed by Tom Clark himself!

SUBSTATIC72LP
Falko Brocksieper : Heavy Day Album : Substatic : 2X12"
Frequencies are swines, every audio-autodidact knows about that. Making music is hard work at the analytical front, every bar just a tiny territorial gain, that neverending scramble between wetware and software. And when the exhausted lonesome hero finally stumbles outside, then it was just another day in the coal-mines of techno, a long day, a heavy day, everyday life. But sometimes all the troubles aren‘t for nothing, sometimes the ring-bounded eye can capture a shine and glitter in the dried-out riverbed, a rough diamond in the digged boulders, ready to get rasped and polished like anything. The last bus home is gone? Never mind. Sleep at the studio? Whatever it takes. Sacrifices are being made and not being born. And all are equal before the flow. In all that sense, SUB STATIC boss FALKO BROCKSIEPER has now processed a big issue, after a remarkable number of EP‘s and remixes: the second-album itch. Nightmare to every musician and conceptual contra on tasty techno in 5-minute-salsa with b-side. All in all not a bed of roses. A real Brocksieper though is always king of the hill in his own track, souvereignly dominating beats and melodies, again and again transferring it all into that airy funky joinin- groove that‘s his trademark. Unisono to definite floor pushers like „Lament“ and „The Whole Story“ though, HEAVY DAY also features a great portion of organic organ- house, plucked violin-techno and pleasant dub-tronica, only to name a few of the opened drawers. Next to the machines, this time RICHARD DAVIS, BIG BULLY and MIA are in on it, with grammy-like performances of their throat arts, as lyrical as focused, into the blue to the point, spun over the beats by expert hands. What? This doesn‘t sound like hard work? Rather like having an easy good time? Right. Mission accomplished.

DOGTOWN006
Nick Chacona : Binding Spheres (Jerome Sydenham Remix) : Dogtown : 12"
Release number 006 see's Dogtown go Stateside with NYC based Nick Chacona ( 2020 Vision , Buzzin Fly , Saw Recordings ) who delivers a dark hypnotic tribal burner with uplifting 80's synths scattered throughout and maybe best described as a unique concoction... part Radio Slave, part Slam, part Lindstrom... completely Chacona!  Nick has gained an excellent reputation for his traditional house productions over the years and in recent times has been exploring more diverse sounds, These were shown superbly on his recent release on Prins Thomas's label 'Internasjonal' imprint, and once more here on 'Binding Spheres'.  For a track that makes such an impact, the label could only entrust remix duties to a true production don, and Jerome Sydenham is that man. He delivers a heavy duty 'Blacktro Dub' that is set to make an impact with so many of you!

CLR21
Perc : Serious Moonlight / Cylinder S : C.L.R. : 12"
For this release on CLR he has sent us two powerful tracks, which fit perfectly into our profile. “Serious Moonlight” on the A-side is a veritable stomping tune with a stoic bass drum that dies away in the break, just to keep marching in its original splendor afterward. Excellent and efficient.  “Cylinder Swing” on the b-side is building up in a similar way, but instead of culminating with its “wall of sound” into a climax, Perc always reduces the tension, to instantly “swing around the corner” with different sounds.

SOMA244
Ctogen : The Emperor’S Apprentice : Soma : 12"
Marco Bernardi returns to his phenomenal Octogen project. With a new album due for release this Autumn Octogen delivers a delightful taster of his new work.
His first album on Soma, ‘2fiveonine’, picked up album of the month awards in three major
UK dance music magazines and was applauded by Laurent Garnier and Angel Molina amongst many others. Since then Octogen has honed in on his style and pushed it to new heights, crafting new work that surpasses all that came before.
Marco takes the heavily Detroit-influenced sound of his early work and twists it slightly into a wonkier excursion of future funk and bleeps to make ‘The Emperor’s Apprentice Part 1’. Prepare for a space-age journey into oblivion.
‘Part 2’ then flips on the boosters as you prepare for hyperspeed. Upping the tempo, beefing the kick and glitching out, this track destroys all in its path as it heads for the planets. ‘Conflicting’ Bells then kicks the groove up a notch further, firing hard on all cylinders. With its mind-warping chimes, thumping kick and hypnotic, deformed bassline this one will freak the floors. ‘Perimeterfunktioncontrol’ finishes off with a chunky funked-out assault straight from
