KITSUNE077
Cazels
: Somebody Somewhere (Lifelike / Somebody Stop Me Remixes) : Kitsune : 12"
Kitsuné
Records is to Ed Banger what K Records is to Dead Oceans. The younger labels
may be plenty cool in their own right and might be releasing stuff by exciting
new talent, but it's always the older, more established ones that will leave
the greatest impact in the long run. Kitsuné has been abuzz with releases
recently, making them all the more alluring... a new seasonal compilation came
out a few months back, a Fiscerspooner single dropped, and Cazals burst onto
the scene. The London quartet was originally noticed for *gasp* being longtime friends
of Mr. Pete Doherty's, but who really cares? Fortunately, they've been
releasing angsty and angular indie-rock dance tracks consistently for a couple
years now, building their reputation off the strength of their boss cuts rather
than the fact that they used to play Legos with the Babyshambles crooner. The
four piece's second single, "Somebody, Somewhere," hits stores by
now, so while you can't get your hands on that one quite yet, you can pick up a
remix of the spicy tune by Lifelike and get the gist of what craziness you're
in for with the forthcoming song.

Johnwaynes
are hailing from Portugal. Previous records have been supported heavily by Toby Tobias or
Alexkid. Now the duo is joining Compost’s Black Label with “Muzzle". Real
soulful house music featuring the legendary voice of Hubert Tubbs (Tower Of Power)! Hailing from the north
of Portugal, Johnwaynes are Jepe and
MrBeat. Formed 3 years ago, the jointly journey began occasionally with the
request of the Portuguese pop band “Loto” to remix one of their album singles.
Jepe, is a music collector and a DJ since 1995. Actually he is working as
booking manager of one of the best Portuguese house clubs called “Estacao Da
Luz” where he spins himself on the famous Saturday nights. MrBeat (Antonio
Bastos), musician since he was born, with several masters in jazz formation,
percussion and new musical technologies, is the real live stage man! As owner
of his own studio he produces several rock bands, Portuguese traditional music
and chorals. He is playing around the country invited by the all kinds off
musicians from soul, funky, new jazz to fado and celtic. They debuted in 2007
with the “Standalone EP” on the new born Portuguese label Bloop. The track
“Violeta” appeared in several DJ charts around and was supported by Toby Tobias
and Alexkid. More recently they dropped the “Retouch EP” on Brique Rouge
achieving worldwide recognition. Remixes were contributed by label owner and
friend Llorca himself. Now, joining the Compost Blacklabel family with the
brand new “Muzzle", once again they deliver real soulful house music
featuring the legendary voice of “Tower of Power” Hubert Tubbs! Quotes: “As always, well crafted
tracks by two of my favourite producers coming out of Portugal… full support for both
sides!” Jose Belo (Bloop recordings) “Full support for my friends in Portugal!” Makossa &

Andrew
Allsgood : Raise It On Down (DrrtyHaze Remix) : Truffle : 12"
Toronto’s Andrew Allsgood
(Truffle Music) comes with his sophomore effort in as many releases on Truffle
Music. Raise It On Down takes over from where (Disco) Pigs In Space left off
and raises the heat even higher. NYC’s Drrtyhaze (Tirk, Gomma) take on the
remix and turn the original into a hypnotic disco-tech burner. Truffle Music (Toronto) returns with Andrew
Allsgood at the helm again. The up and coming Producer and longtime Toronto DJ
shows his promise once again with this slow-grooving funk masterpiece that
stretches over 7 minutes. The song travels through many sections and passes,
carried the entire time by a driving dub bassline and vocal. For the lovers of
deep, dubby and funky house and disco. NYC’s Drrtyhaze (Tirk, Gomma) are
commissioned on the remix and deliver the goods with an up-tempo hypnotic
stormer that sizzles with it’s surreal energy and simplicity. Drrtyhaze use few
elements from the original other than the vocal, taking It into deeper
territory with a faster tempo and groove and much more electronic feel to the
originals organic vibe.

CADENZA2225
Rhadoo
: Dor Mit Oru EP : Cadenza : 2X12"
With Dor
Mit Oru, Rhadoo follows through on that promise, throwing the doors wide open
with the sly fury of a benevolent Pandora. The double EP is nothing if not
ambitious, featuring four long, evolving tracks that forego gimmicks in favor
of a deeper kind of engagement. What upon first listen sounds minimal, thanks
to a familiar palette of treated percussion, slight harmonic squiggles, and not
much else, reveals itself to be far denser, deeper, and more nuanced. Unusually
hypnotic, Rhadoo’s tracks blindfold the listener, spinning you round like a
dervish, until dizziness dissolves into pure weightlessness. What makes
Rhadoo’s grooves so different? It’s impossible to put your finger on, but it
has something to do with his curious sense of timekeeping. His beats flex with
the twitchy fallibility of human muscles. His melodic phrases stretch far
beyond the familiar confines of the four-bar loop, unfurling to fill space in a
way seemingly without measure. Insistent, almost tribal patterns are atomized
into boundless orbits. It also has something to do with Rhadoo’s approach to
sound, fusing the reassuring warmth of acoustic percussion with the shimmering
timbres of the digital imagination, as though threading catgut and horsehair
with pixel pearls. For all its underlying complexity, Rhadoo’s music is
unusually immediate: these are songs for the dance, after all, as welcoming as
a familiar face behind the decks. Welcome to Rhadoo’s world.

AER027
Phonogenic
/ Dave Barker / Amantu Wilde : Sounds From Around Pt 4 : Aesoteric : 12"
Tuomas
is back after an amazing remix of Hesohi’s ‘’To Hold You” (AER014), he has
returned to work his magic as Phonogenic. ‘’Postcard” is slow burner, building
and rising to a eventual climax of melancholic underwater deepness. This song
will no doubt be played by those in the later time slots and anyone who wants to
add a little journey to their mixes. Our main man Dex aka Dave Barker is back
with another slice of some quality melodic quirky goodness. “Yikes!” has a very
chopped up funk/soul feel mixed with solid house beats. Studio trickery and a
hidden Japanese opera helps the track evolve from its soulful beginning to
another world entirely. Finally, we are very pleased to bring you the first of
many musical efforts from Amantu Wilde. Not much is known about Amantu as he is
a bit of a recluse and does not offer up much information about himself.
“G-G-Got My Eyes On You” is a very retro sounding track reminiscent of some
classic new wave jams. Pseudo industrial percussion and excellent filter work
make this track something to remember. Something strange for sure but we think
people will like the break from the modern sounds.

Unexpected as always the jena based duo shows off with a mix that rolls up the theme from
somewhere underneath and reminds us of all those wonderful parties we used to
have and the parties we’re up for. ART BLEEK transforms the gorgeous original
into a deep and laid back music monster. The paris based talent delivered a long evolving version
with his own personal imprint while ANTHONY COLLINS is squeaking us into

Westpark
Unit : Proper Thang / Mo' Rotation : Farside : 12"
Westpark
Unit aka Herb LF and Ingo Sänger are back to their homebase Farside Records
with two brand new trax, “Proper Thang” and “Mo’ Rotation", following up
their latest releases/remixes on famous labels like Future Classic, Dessous
Recordings, Dpress, etc. After last year’s hit “Jeepah” and the critically
acclaimed remix of “Springsequence” for Iceland’s Asli on Farside Records, they took the
playlists of Jimpster, Djinxx or Steve Bug by storm. “Mo’ Rotation” is the next
step in the history of Westpark Unit’s 80s funk influences they started with
“Blaxrotation” and fits well within the sound of today! Always sexy, dope, deep
& dubby. “Proper Thang” is as deep as jeep and builds up in the typical
Westpark Unit style with some demanding but tricky drum patterns and a wicked
bassline. To surprise, the duo added some old school snippets into the drop,
put them into a different context and present a jewel of a bangin’ deep house
tune. And when the beat is coming back in things are getting truly enthusiastic
… “Mo’ Rotation” is starting with just some shakers, a demanding percussion
loop and a booming bass. This track is taking its time, when the bassdrum
finally drops in after five minutes, the club is already near ecstasy while the
music is taking a small step from 1983 to 2008. This is a deep masterpiece is
coming your way. Is this still house music?? It definitely is!

Kadebostan

Kadebostan
returns with a hot new 3 track EP. “Ruff Dancer” is a bass heavy, percussive
sample based house track. Truly a big one! The grounded vision of a label,
which at the moment is trumpeting rough times for a change in a rich,
fascinating tenor with the required balance from rigidness and surprise.
Kadebostan’s second release on FAT connects especially with his musicality from
his earlier works. He borrows from his style emphasis and surprise at the same
time. Up through finely composed tonal art which functions flawlessly at home
and at those ebullient moments in the club. Harmonic, electric prepared music,
graceful and voluminous without an over-produced taste, thrills the hearing
channels, to fill the heart with cool club music and some of what it doesn’t
always get. The night active spots are not completely composed of hordes of
masculine, sweaty bodies. Exactly the sensibility which remains in the
thoughts, Kadebostan’s cluster-sonic formulations are there for the way.

: Red Sky (Roland Appel Remix) : Mule Electronic : 12"
This is
the debut single of Audision on Mule Electronic. After the sublime single from
their own label in 2007, they are going to release first album from Mule
Electronic in autumn of this year and this release is first single cut from the
album. Two very deep original tracks of Audision and massive dance remix from
Roland Appel. Tobias schmid has been DJing for more than a decade and has
arrived at his style from acidhouse at the end of the eighties to the minimal
sounds of basic channel, minimal nation, plus 8 and axis. By the mid-nineties
this flow hit the nation with the new influences of Studio 1, Cheap and
electronic music department of Köln, Wien and Berlin and Tobias took his sound
to Ars Electronica/Linz, Kunstverein München and Zürich, Ultraschall, Tresor,
Studio 672, Panoramabar, Watergate, Le Pulp, Batofar, Robert Johnson and his
regular nights at Golden Pudel Club or Tanzhalle St. Pauli in Hamburg,
transporting his influences to a wider audience. His project audision, with
Niko Tzoukmanis, has released several EPs on Playmade. He and DJ Stefan Sieber
have also introduced a new regular club event, Auto.matic.music, to test the
new productions, and to invite and share with DJs, friends and musicians. Niko
Tzoukmanis has been producing tracks since 1995, recording as unitary (solo, on
Playmade/Minus series and on Logan tapes) and Audision (with Tobias Schmid, on Playmade/Minus
series). He has been spinning at the Kerosin in Augsburg, at the Golden Pudel Club, Tanzhalle,
Fleetstreet and Betalounge in Hamburg and at the Bootleg DJ Café in Rotterdam. He plays sets that move
between Basic Channel/Deepchord-style dub tracks, deep detroit techno and hi-tech funk,
always with a strong focus on “tha D” which he considers to be his most
important musical influence. Together they are AUDISION and believe in deep
sound structures.

Mark
E : Slave 1 EP : Running Back
FIRST
500 LIMITED COLLECTOR’S EDITION ON GREY VINYL! Mark E’s story starts with his
parents giving him a reel-to-reel for Christmas, as he was eight years old.
Working with his beloved razor blade (which he had to steal from his father’s
shaver) and a bit of glue, little Mark immediately started to edit all the
tunes, his older brother religiously collected on recordings from legendary
WBLS, New York…After turning the edit front and a certain member of a
well-known R&B family upside down, the Birmingham chap now returns to
Running Back for another EP of original productions. And what a return it is!
Staying in his lovely kind of irresistible grooves between low slung bass and
rattling snares, Mark delivers three tracks of pure dance floor bliss. First
off, we have “Slave 1″ with its burning slow motion build up and a
hook-line that will not leave your head for at least a week. The flip of the
medal, sees “Pulse Friction” giving off a warm synthesizer shower for what
seems like an hour. Finally, the incredibly bouncy “Human” tightens the
thumbscrew and should even make the ruffy and tuffy minded happy. Our dear
friends Dixon from shocking
Innervisions and Gilb’r from rocking Versatile are already in love with it, so

Tim
Green : Revox (Justin Martin Remix) : Dirtybird : 12"
At the
ripe old age of 22, England’s Tim Green already has five releases on Germany’s
esteemed Four:Twenty label (as TG), and more on the way to Ritchie Hawtin’s
Plus 8 imprint (as Needles). Now, dirtybird has nabbed this youngster! At the
heart of Revox’s unshakeable groove is a deceptively simple chord sequence. It
swells and recedes, climbing octaves then resetting itself, as
almost-discernable vocals mutter and twist in the borders. It wouldn’t be a
dirtybird track without that glorious dancefloor surprise - an explosion of
bells and squirming bass rounds out Revox’s second half, setting the stage
perfectly for the original chord’s triumphant return. On the flip side,
dirtybird’s own Justin Martin continues his mastery of the 808, turning in a
remix that will rattle nails out of subwoofers and asses out of their panties.
Drop this straight into your favorite club’s soundsystem, then watch its effect
on the room from the very first bass drop. Whether you’re trying to peel dancers
off the bar at 10 pm or looking to tip the dancefloor into frenzy mode at 3am, his remix delivers
every single time.

Noze
: Danse Avec Moi (Sascha Funke / DJ Koze Remixes) : Get Physical : 12"
Danse
Avec Moi big remixes by DJ Koze & Sascha Funke Danse Avec Moi is the first
single to be taken from Nôze's new album, Songs On The Rocks, the French duo's
most surreal and scintillating vision of dance music yet, to be released on Get
Physical Music on April 25th. The 12" is equipped with remixes from Sascha
Funke and the inimitable DJ Koze."Danse Avec Moi" is a proper love
song. It is also Nôze's first ever song in French, and so with typical
perversity, they thought it might be amusing to call upon an American to do the
singing - the wonderful Dani Siciliano, best known for her albums for !K7 and
litany of collaborations with Matthew Herbert. Dani duets elegantly with David
Lafore (who also penned the song's lyrics) over a propulsive, swinging 4x4 drum
tattoo, bouncy bassline, rippling harp and lavish string arrangements. As is so
often the case with Nôze, the piano is at the forefront of the arrangement,
providing not just straightforward melody and harmony but eminently danceable
rhythm. It is an anthem in the making. You should know better than to expect a
straightforward remix from Kompakt's resident mad scientist, DJ Koze. …

MOBILEE037
Pan-Pot
: Remixes (Marco Resmann / Zander Vt Remixes) : Mobilee : 12"
Pan-Pot’s
debut longplayer Pan-o-Rama turns out to be the gift that just keeps on giving.
First there was the lead single “Charly,” backed by an infectious remix from
Lady Mobilee herself, Anja Schneider. Now they hand the baton to Marco Resmann
and Zander VT, who each perform their own magic on two more killer cuts from
the album. Marco Resmann’s is something of an inside job, given that he used to
be a member of Pan-Pot in the group’s early days. Resmann is nothing if not
prolific: in addition to performing solo as Phage and as a member of the groups
Luna City Express and Phage & Daniel Dreier, he runs the Upon You label.
His rework of “Ape Will Never Kill Ape” is a perfect fusion of Pan-Pot’s
shadowy, percussive style and Resmann’s own sensuous, darkside sensibility.
Retaining the pitched-down vocals of the original version, he drapes Pan-Pot’s
scuffed, insistent rhythms in cobwebs and gloom, as though sweeping the floors
of a haunted sandpaper factory. There’s only the barest whisper of melody, in
the form of eerie flutes that float like stray clouds; the song is driven less
by linear movement than a kind of magnetic attraction between carefully tuned
drums and percussive sounds. At once porous and packed with detail, it creates
an energy field you won’t want to leave. BPitch Control’s Zander VT turn their
attentions to “Crank.” The original was a nervous, metallic groover marked by a
restless skip and apocalyptic stabs, but Zander VT amp up on the anti-anxiety
meds to deliver a version that’s looser and more upbeat—well, a touch, anyway.
Dark, dubby chords paint a sky that’s steely-grey, but their beats are so
springy that no one will be left brooding for long. The track is marked with a
masterful sense of pacing that builds up and eases off almost imperceptibly:
there are gimmicks here, just slow-burning drama and the kind of peace that
comes with breathing deeply.

solid and continuous dancefloor moment, the insistent bassline and synthetic
drums merge with layered melodic-acid phrases that suggest a central theme,
building an intense trip. ‘I’m Very Close’ is a worthy title in fact, as the
teasing effect of each of its sensual builds reminds us of the joys such a
‘plateaux’ of pleasure can bring… Equally remarkable whenever aired throughout
the night, Patrick Gräser & Notic Nastic have cooked up a versatile
clubtrack with a definite and deliciously addictive carnal aroma! willie graff
& tuccillo - paru paru Diving deeper, but maintaining a grooving energy
which will warm the floor beautifully, New York’s young Cielo resident, Ibizian
Willie Graff joins forces with fellow Ibizian house activist Guiseppe Tuccillo
in this late-night tantalising offering. Willie proved the duo had created
something special when he gave the track its first airing at Panoramabar, and
this super deep cut of classically inspired minimal house really came into it’s
element. Detailed and slowly developing percussion stands out crisp and
powerful above a reduced hush of whispers and distant spoken words, whilst the
track’s dubbed-out bassline and rich chord stabs utterly seduce from start to
finish. Its a strong declaration of the pair’s love for deep house, twisted
together with their clear ability to focus modern sounds into reduced and
magical stories.

Elvis
Benait & Tony Gomez : Gate One / Gate Two : Toolroom Trax : 12"
“Gate
One” is the stunning new Toolroom Trax release from Elvis Benait and Tony
Gomez. Hailing from Zurich, these bright young producers have had hits on labels including
Cr2 and Joia, and alongside Danny Freakazoid (Elvis’ brother) they are at the
forefront of the new wave of Swiss producers taking the dance scene by storm.
Supremely uplifting, with melodic keys and an exhilarating breakdown, “Gate
One” is solid gold and has the anthemic sound of an instant classic. It comes
backed with “Gate Two”, a warm and luminous track that generates a sea of
smiling faces and hands in the air! Together these two gems form an
exceptional EP that goes straight for the jugular on the dancefloor, a release
that’s set for huge exposure throughout the spring and into summer. Destined to
become a peak-time favourite for DJs and clubbers alike, this is one release
that deserves your full attention!

Martinez : Retrospective EP :
3rd Floor Records : 12"
Big
with: Loco Dice, Tiefschwarz, Mathias Kaden, Serafin, Federico Molinari,
Tomboy, Sebbo, Raresh, Laurent Garnier,.. A serious dose of forward thinking
house music, and a must for the spring! These days, Martinez is gaining a lot of
appreciation with his releases on Cray 1 Labworks, LoMidHigh Lmtd. and his own
Re:Connected label. What a lot of people don’t realize is that the man actually
kicked off his music production career on the famed Chicago house label Guidance.
For his second release on 3rd Floor Records, the busy Dane/Swede has come up
with what we believe is a perfect mix between his house-side and his newer
material with a more techno-ish touch.
