Pink Skull : Drugs Will Keep Us Together (Trevor Loveys & 33Hz RMXS) : The Savant Guard : 12"
Drugs Will Keep Us Together, the debut release from Brooklyn NY's newest label, The Savant Guard, is nothing short of a guaranteed killer.  Philadelphia's Pink Skull offers up this funky off-kilter tech house banger, combining left field sensibilities with more progressive elements, they've created a twisted, streamlined unstoppable dance floor monster. This track is like if The Dahlbeks joined Zongamin: freaked out breakdowns, mind-bottling (like your head is trapped in a bottle!) stutters, and a blissed-out hands-in-the-air reprise, akin to Alter Ego's Rocker.  No shit.   Accompanying Pink Skull's original creation, on the A side, are NYC's electro darlings 33Hz along with Ming (of Ming+FS) and their hard, raved-out house dub. A very musical and melodic trip with disco guitars, a supersaw synth, stuttering basslines, and sexual innuendos, that will make you ask, "Where were you in '92?"  Fidget House superstar and veteran producer, Trevor Loveys (Dubsided, Nuphonic, House of 909) adds his unique and crazy touch on the B side. His 8 minute plus remix takes a tweaky break beat approach that creeps up and attacks like a spasming amoeba as it continually twitches and morphs between the abstract and the defined. It gradually unfurls it's wings and grows into a seismic dancefloor anthem. This epic and elaborate mix offers something for the complete freak in everyone.

Noir Presents Black Magik : Fuck Me (Thomas Gold / Ali Payami / Vision Factory Remixes) : Just For Fun Recordings : 12"
Noir Presents Black Magik with ‘Fuck Me’ on Just For Fun Recordings could quite easily be billed as “porno house” as it’s clear that the new wave of Danish dance is not only aiming at the alternate dance market, but could well be playing a starring role before the sun rises on another summer season.Thomas Gold’s remix sounds not unlike a Superchumbo-esque concoction of menacing drums, stark beats and percussive aggression that fits tightly alongside the vocal hook, while Ali Payami’s version continues the theme with an even tougher reworking made for those 3 am rushes. While the Original really gets the raunchy message across as she moans, groans and basically orgasms atop a slick and highly listenable oeuvre of rich textures, warm chords and electronic melodies that glide freely without ever boarding on the obvious. The men reading this will love her moans and lust for life, but she’s not the kinda girl you’d wanna take home to meet the parents!

Popof : The Chomper EP : Turbo : 12"
…Trust me, you'll ALL love this EP. It just fits... somewhere in between minimal scarf vibes and full-on fire trance.... AND still accessible to nurave blogfucks! To wrap it up… Popof is French (AGAIN!!) There are three tracks... all Aside material... one is called 'Chiken Flavour'... note we NEVER correct artists' spelling... that's how much we respect their creativity. Incredibly, he's been putting out records since '96, staying beneath the radar cruising at the speed of trance... and now all of a sudden in a few short months he's topped techno charts and made it into the playlists of a wide range of superstar DJ's from minimalists like Villalobos & Luciano, ex-trance DJ's Sasha and Tiga, and even, believe-it-or-not, THE top dog himself: Tiësto. After the success of the previous Wild Rumpus EP ‘Musical Blaze-Up’, which featured MC Brother Culture (Trojan Sound System) and Black Steel (KLF/Mad Professor) with remixes from NYC’s Rub n’ Tug and UK house legend Rob Mello, Bitches Brew are back with their next wild installment - Purple Somersault. If the previous release was filed under Country-Dub-Tronica, this release is Psychedelic-Surf-Cosmic-Disco. Kind of like Link Wray wipes out with Giorgio Moroder. An interesting and rather beautiful concept I’m sure you’ll agree, in fact the whole Wild Rumpus story is rather interesting and beautiful. Two pioneers of forward thinking music, but from very different backgrounds combine to make the kind of music you simply can’t ignore but at the same time can’t quite put your finger on. Colleen Murphy, aka Cosmo, has been pushing musical boundaries since her teens. Born near Boston but relocated to NYC in ‘86, Cosmo had her own radio show by the age of 14, which she held for many years, showcasing her love of psychedelic, garage and prog rock and was one of the only outside DJs ever to grace the decks at the infamous birthplace of clubbing, David Mancuso’s ‘The Loft’. Cosmo’s work in the realms of disco, nu wave, electronica, house, nu jazz and crossover rock has allowed her to develop an eclectic DJ style that is beloved by DJs, promoters, clubbers across the globe. The mix of Cosmo’s psychedelic roots and disco tutelage truly explains the sounds of her partnership with one of the guitar world’s genuine pioneers. Gary Lucas was recently dubbed the ‘Guitarist of 1000 Ideas’ by the New York Times and is widely considered to be the guitar world’s greatest living talent. Previously of Captain Beefheart, Gary is famed for his multi-faceted musical creativity, collaboration projects, film scores and most recently, his work with new band “Gods & Monsters". As the co-writer of Jeff Buckley’s seminal “Grace", Gary is no stranger to making hits, yet his passion for experimentatio

Groove Junkies feat Wendy Brune : Work It Out : Morehouse : 12"
With "Work it out", the Groove Junkies open up 2008 in a truly big way, presenting a sure shot winner that will be a DJ favorite for a long time to come. With Wendy Brune, the Groove Junkies present a highly talented vocalist that you might not yet be familiar with, but we are sure we will hear much more from her in the future. The 'Main Mix' is a feel good vocal anthem, with Wendy Brune providing passionate vocals over a smooth yet fierce, funk soaked groove that is enriched with some hot keys and horns. The 'Funk Fusion Dub' is all about the funky elements, dropping some of the vocals while adding a wicked organ ride. M-Sol aka Mike Hirsch contributes the remixes, with his 'Afro Vox' using a smoothly thumpin', slightly afro flavored groove as base for the vocals that are accompanied by lush strings and wonderful keys. M-Sol's 'Deep Dub' takes the track to the underground with a deeper, darker edge, with the spacey synths creating a resistless vibe. The package also includes various instrumentals, a reprise and a beats version. One not to be missed!

FLASH008
Koletzki & Meindl : Tiger EP : Flash : 12"
f you haven’t realised yet, it’s 2008! And Flash Recordings are back with a bang. This time around the label owners Oliver Koletzki and Florian Meindl joined forces again with their tough breed of Minimal and Electro creating their unique signature sound that has been hailed as the New German Techno. After singles by Daso, Pawas and Lützenkirchen, the two masterminds behind the imprint have decided to throw their skills together in a big pot, stir it around a couple of times and spice it up with some dance floor mania. And their brew is lethal! Cyclone is one of those tracks that will completely reorganise any dance floor. Koletzki´s charming melodies are mixed with some tough minimal Meindleske beats that break down in a crescendo of effects and synthie patterns. This is a magic potion! On the flip there is Tiger. With its strong bassline the track lurks around the corner eagerly waiting to bite the crowd with an enchanting arpeggio and some great stabby chords. Tiger is more introvert and deep, but nevertheless it’s a smoothly thumping tune that one could perfectly imagine hearing towards the end of a night or at the beginning of the After hour. It will slowly get you up on your feet and make you realise that the party is definitely not over yet. Don’t go home! Once again Koletzki and Meindl remind us what Flash is all about: wonderfully crafted tracks that positively stand out of the release jungle that is German techno.

GLOSSY002
Glossy Recordings : Payama / Don't Chop The Music : Glossy : 12"
The Glossy Ninjas are back with another stealth mission: not your usual edit’s these guys take bits and pieces from known cuts and replant them in a different landscape. and while the super succesful first release sprinkled some modern US Soul magic over deephouse grooves they keep it firmly Euro Disco this time. for “payama” the Glossy crew enlisted the competent help of Germany’s one-of-a-kind one man disco band and therefore it doesn’t come as a surprise that it’s a prime example in dancefloor manipulation: layers and layers of swirling.frantic keys build up over a handclapping boogie beat, tightening more and more around your neck and when you have no other choice than to surrender to the groove those cheeky guys pull out a sample by the rather fishy, most successfull fake disco band ever. big fun!! the flip is not any less hilarious: a frenetic chop up disco slasher feast reminiscent of early Daft Punk and with so many surgical cuts that it could make a sushi chef envious. early support and plays from Mock & Toof,Faze Action, Mark E., Simbad and Gilbert ( Chateau Flight ).

IMM034
Ryoh Mitomi : Ballet EP (Polder Remix) : Immigrant : 12"
What better way to kick off this new year with an outstanding EP from our latest signing hailing from Japan. RYOH MITOMI is becoming a producer to watch in 2008 through his recent releases on Belgium’s infamous R&S RECORDS, Technasia’s MINIMAXIMA and Canada’s RESTRUCTURED RECORDINGS. Ryoh’s debut IMMIGRANT EP showcases Ryoh’s versatile production style of pure techno to house. Talented Dutch duo POLDER supply an outstanding remix for the 12″ while Ryoh’s fellow Japanese producer A-INC offers a bonus digital remix. Look out for solo EP’s later in 2008 from both Ryoh and A-inc. A1 - Pointe (Original Mix). “Pointe” is a classic ballet term but there’s no padding in the groin of this track. It’s got more balls than a Steve Davis 147 and a perfect example of Ryoh’s no holes barred, pure techno production. The tune clicks n clacks along side a warping synth and a thundering bass line before falling into the dark cervices of an impending black hole. Thanks only to Dark Lord Mitomi, the track mercifully drops back and we can all catch our breath and resume dancing with the Devil. This tune is simply…HUGE! A2 - Stranger Than Paradise (Original Mix). Mitomi swaps hats to reveal his house persona in this deep and emotive house track, concocted of classic lush Rhodes chords, warm sub bass, swinging Chi Town hats and a dynamite piano line. It seems very natural for Ryoh to switch between genres and this is why we love him so. Perfect for warm up sets or to alter the mood of a techno set. Beware, the Dark Lord comes in many forms! B1 - Pointe (Polder Remix). Hailing from Amsterdam, the dutch duo of Laurent Lanting and David Labeij tear apart Mitomi’s original and reconstruct it into a peak time dance floor jam. In true Polder fashion, the remix is scattered with groovy percussion and padded with a thick rolling bass line. The duo edit the textured landscape with short drop outs and a short break using Ryoh’s original synth sounds. Remixes don’t come much better for the dance fl

BAO008
Emmanuel : Parade EP : Beasone : 12"
That Be As One has an acute hear for young undiscovered talents, it’s now a matter of fact. After the success of the last release, that featured a remix package filled with three storming reworks from 3 of the most rated Techno producers of the recent time as Deetron , Itamar Sagi and Mark Broom, it’s now time for BAO to secure the world another dose of “highly intelligent music". Emmanuel is the next discovery unearthed by Shlomi Aber’s passion of signing new talents to his imprint and get them into the Techno rumble. Parade, is an heavy dancefloor monster: a fat marching groove, weird and freaky sounds here and there, add the right programming and you get what is likely to be an anthem for the minimal techno posse at WMC ‘08. A Step From You, is a totally different side of Emmanuel’s music. Melodies and dreamy landscapes are tinged by this amazing tune that blinks its eye to Brikha’s techno. Uplifting, full of energy, with a story to tell, it’s one of those records that stands out for being playable today, tomorrow, and forever: timeless.

WAG035
The Mole : Baby You're The One : Wagon Repair : 12"
Montreal’s The Mole returns to his spiritual home of Wagon Repair for the first time since 2006’s ‘In My Song’. ‘You’re the One’ is the first single taken from his forthcoming album ‘As High As The Sky’ which will be released on Wagon Repair in May. Renowned as the programmer behind the ‘Modern Deep Left Quartet’, a collaboration with all three members of Cobblestone Jazz, 2007 saw The Mole release a series of remixes on ~scape as well as a single on Canadian imprint Musique Risquee. He’s also regularly to be found cutting up the finest dance floors across Europe, the US and Canada. A side ‘Baby You’re the One’ is fast out of the blocks with racing percussion and a plunging bass loop. A piercing metallic tone encircles a distorted vocal sample as subtle melodies rise to the surface of the mix, steadily intensifying to climax. On the flip side, ‘Crackbeat’ is a darker animal. Kindling wild percussion carries an eerily distant key melody that supports a rich synth siren. Teeming with activity, the synth melody is trailed by bubbling bass tones as a feral percussive drive chases to close.

MACROM03
Tuomi : Expense Of Spirit EP : Macro Recordings : 12"
In 2007 Macro gained massive recognition with the groundbreaking “Lunatic Fringe” EP. The label’s 2008 follow up is as innovative - introducing the first external artist signing of the label - Tuomi, as well as Stefan Goldmann’s 1st ever production for a band! Tuomi is a trio of voice, piano and double bass, lead by singer Kristiina Tuomi. Touring the globe from Europe to Bahrain to South Korea, Tuomi perform a unique blend of superb songwriting and acoustic chamber composition. For their Macro debut, the trio is joined by live strings and an array of electronics, synths and drum machines, taking their signature concept to the dancefloor in full effect. The result is stunningly adventurous house music. The title track “Expense of Spirit” comes with a mind blowing bass line, acting as a catchy counterpoint to the deep acoustic chords and strings. The B side also holds a minimalistic dub version. “Mourning Eyes” and “Expense Miniature” reach far beyond the dancefloor, being another prime example of Macro’s experimental direction. A pioneering four track EP showcasing what should be possible at the junction of acoustic and electronic music today. Tuomi are: Kristiina Tuomi - voice Carsten Daerr - piano Carlos Bica - double bass featuring: Margherita Biederbick - violin Hannah Klein - viola Stefan Goldmann - synth bass, drum machines, processing

MOBILEE035
And.Id : One Is Not Enough : Mobilee : 12"
Mobilee proudly welcomes a new producer to the family: And.id, aka Andreas Dimitriadis. Hailing from Thessaloniki, Greece, Andreas is known for several releases on Cologne’s WARE label as well as remixes for the likes of Si Begg; he’s also a member of NON, the collective behind Thessaloniki’s acclaimed Reworks festival along with many other electronic-music events across Greece. For his mobilee debut, And.id presents two tracks brimming with dark matter and midnight intensity. “One Is Not Enough” is based upon a punchy, percussive sensibility that fits perfectly into the mobilee aesthetic. Tiny rhythmic patterns lock together like clockworks as they grind ever onward; as it grows beneath a landslide of dub delay, the track fills with tiny, sparkling grains of sound, reminiscent of nothing so much as a mountain of mica. Mournful trumpet blasts add a human touch to a cut that’s split down the middle between ice and fire. “The Island” eases off on the throttle, cruising into an ominous, shuffling groove. This one’s for the bass-heads: the track rides a cushion of low-end pressure that’s bound to have subwoofers breathing hard. And.id’s melodic bent shines through with a tritone chord progression that heaves like a haunted church organ; stray notes cut like tracers through fog, and a gravelly cello puts its foot down in favor of organic timbres. From the sound of things, there’s no way off this island, but when apocalypse sounds this sexy, we’re not sure why you’d ever want to leave.

AM028
Trentemoller : Miss You (Pascal F.E.O.S. / Pole / Lulu Rouge / Trentemoller) : Audiomatique : 12"
After the huge success of his albums ‚The Last Resort‘ and ,The Trentemøller Chronicles‘, Trentemøller graces the Audiomatique catalogue once again, featuring four timeless and accomplished remixes of his haunting track, ‚Miss You.‘ The original is a deeply musical study showing off Trentemøller’s unique composition skills, and for this release he presents a cut up re-rub full of classic texture and warmth. One of two more club friendly remixes on the release, his remix adds sharp hi-hats and even more hypnotic layers of melodies, creating an energetic track which sits in the ever-smoky borders between techno, house and electronica. Climbing up from deep within his unique and unmistakable river of sound, Scape‘s legendary producer Pole is next to provide a remix. Bass heavy dub-steps close around a tripped out abstraction of the original theme, allowing 7 minutes of glorious analogue experimentation to unfold. A rich cloud of defined and considered noise surfaces to very meniscus of the track, before sinking away back into the depths… One of Germany‘s longest serving figures in Techno, Pascal F.E.O.S, chooses to remain true to the musicality of the original with his drifting techno slow burner. The remix introduces melody as its central focus, but is still underpinned by the Level Non Zero figurehead‘s tough but reduced rhythm track, that drives persistently, without distorting one‘s view of the stirring melodic happenings. Finally two talented musicians from Copenhagen‘s electronic underground, Lulu Rouge and Asger Baden, take the stirring beauty of the original‘s piano melody and create a filmic, beatless interpretation. Gentle washes of warm strings and atmospheres glide subtly through the pale ether of this wonderfully restrained remix.

KMSHISTORY03
Kevin Saunderson : History Elevate 3 (Good Life (Mathew Jonson Remix) / Just Want Another Chance (John Tejada Remix) : KMS : 12"
Kevin saunderson, one of the creators of techno, celebrates 20 years of productions. 3rd installment double A side 12″ of the kevin saunderson history project where KMS invite selected contributors to remix prime cuts of kevin’s productions crossing all his monikers, from inner city, reese project, e dancer, resse and santonio and tronik house. “Good Life” Mathew Jonson’s Acid Mix Mathew Jonson is one of the leading lights in techno’s Generation 2000andX and it’s a fitting passing of the mantle that he takes on the job of remixing one of the genre’s first crossover hits. A task that would make most producers cower under their studio desks in fear such is the weight of expectation that comes with it, MAthew confidently crafts a reinterpration that’s fitting with techno’s new minimalist house sensibilities. The stripped back vocals snake sexily in and out of a snarling, jumpy bassline and skippy percussion that ooze sensuality and tension in equal measures. Tellingly the signature stabs of the original creep in only at the very end as an ode to the past this time unnecessary for a remix that’s already packing enough bite to make it inspire those late night peak time dancefloor moments. “Just Want Another Chance” John Tejada remix Kevin’s pioneering seductive low end hum went on to feature in techno and drum ‘n’ bass records for much of the next decade and on this re rub west coast techno ambassador John Tejada keeps the original biting low end hook and updates it with arpegiatting melodies set amongst old skool cymbals and driving claps and percussion that echo the sounds of Detroit’s golden days into a new era.

Subotika : Influence EP : Motech : 12"
Nestled in the distant landscape of Northern Serbia exists the city in transition. Subotica is alive. Serving as Serbia's fifth city, Subotica has seen glory and heartache. It has been the scene of violent revolt as well as dramatic rebirth. Emerging from this cloud of constant growth is Subotika. Consisting of Mario Crnkovic and Nino Shebelic, Subotika combines the unique percussive influence of their region's past with the learned rhythms born and raised tens of thousands of miles away in Detroit. Heavily influenced by the sounds of Detroit innovators Underground Resistance and Red Planet, Subotika made their connection to the Detroit lifeline through Franki Juncaj aka DJ 3000. Through this recent connection, Subotika breaks through the formulaic "Detroit-as-inspiration" sound and leaves us with visions of a sound both past and present. Subotika's alignment with Motech Records proves again that music transcends most barriers in our lives. More important than our ethnic, economic or political allegiances is our ability to feel rhythm. Not only to feel that rhythm, but to be able to tap into it and fully understand what each other is trying to say even though our native tongues build walls between us. As the Motech family grows, there is no need for words, because we speak your language and you speak ours. www.motechrecords.com

TERM055
Stimming : Die Liebe : Terminal M : 12"
No, Martin Stimming doesn't sing love songs on this EP. He doesn't need to sing to express his tender feelings of love since he has such a sweet melody up his sleeve that expresses this emotions. The melody starts off very shy but it becomes more offensive on the surface. On the flipside Stimming shows his deeper side with: "Concentrate" a meditative track with short moments of harmony and a catchy rhythm. On "State Of Mind" you will hear what formed his feeling for rhythm: in this track his passion for drumming flashes through on the drum arrangement while in the background a little melody evolves almost unnoticeably. The drums are Martin Stimming’s favorite instrument. Bored of his piano and violin lessons he devoted himself to the drums at the age of ten and took lessons at the Modern Music School in Gießen. By the age of seventeen he was in a Drum n' Bass Crew as a drummer. When he moved to Hamburg his love for techno arose. So he enrolled to receive his degree in the Electronic Music Producer program at the SAE Institute. Soon after he produced & released his first tracks together with Alexander Kübler under the pseudonym of Gebrüder Ton on labels like Modus Operandi, Diynamic and Electric Avenue. Here comes his second EP on one of Monika Kruse’s Labels, now it comes out under his real name and on Terminal M.

Sebastian Roya : Andante (Jens Zimmerman Remix) : Connaisseur : 12"
Sebastian Roya is back, this time on Supérieur again, our sub-imprint, where he had his first release, his first hit, his breakthrough: Compresión. Sebastian’s success is tremendous, just confirmed by his nomination as “Newcomer Producer Of The Year” by Fundacion Autor in Spain. With “Andante” he again shows his talent for massively drivin’ voodoo grooves and weird soundscapes. “Andante” is a typical Roya tune with his own distinctive style. A long-distance Technomonster, simple in it’s way of working, but highly effective on the dance floor. Layer on layer he builds up the tune, adds rhythm part on rhythm part till eventually, it is a big rolling bulldozer, no one can stop. ..
