V/A : 11 : Silver Planet : CD
From the label that has brought you some of the hottest stars in dance music such as Timo Maas, James Holden and more recently Luke Dzierzek, 11 is a celebration of Silver Planet's 11 year history of releasing quality underground house music and discovering unique talent.  Rather than focussing on the past by way of a retrospective release, the label looks forward to the next 11 years by releasing a triple CD with mixes from its current roster of artists who each showcase their individual sounds and tastes in the scene covering mainly unreleased material. Disc 1 mixed by BCML contains previously unreleased and new gems from the duo of Ben Camp and Mat Leuwyler under a variety of guises. Disc 2 is mixed by Ben Camp and is a medley of his personal favourites on the label along with his own productions and releases including previously unreleased material. Disc 3 is presented by Paul Sparkes, Silver Planet's live DJ who takes the brand around the world. Paul has thrown his own personal touch to some forthcoming material on the label along with a few of his own productions.  This triple CD is a stunning showcase of unreleased tracks with a few retrospective Silver Planet classics thrown in. All three mixes are creative and seamless with special edits and additional production by the DJs presenting the mix. This compilation is a must-have for any Silver Planet fan and will undoubtedly have a special deserved place on the shelf of any underground house music enthusiast.

1REC019
Lützenkirchen : The Timewarp EP Pt. 1 : Spinout : 12"
Lützenkirchen makes his debut on Spin Out with the first track of a two part EP.  'Weasel Groove' is a typical Lützenkirchen bass heavy track. It kicks in with some nifty percussion, skippy beats and a techno bassline rolling on until the melody drops with some glitchy synths and the "out of time" snippit vocal. The track builds up until the whole thing drops and when it does, you'd best watch those speakers as the bass is heavy, not unlike his infamous track 'Knight Moves'. On the flip side we have a remix from Blende who has recently re-worked the likes of MSTRKRFT, and The Klaxons  making him one of the 'Producers to watch in 08!'. His re-rub is a pure filth-fest from start to finish, we warned you...this is not for the faint of heart.

Lutzenkirchen : 3 Tage Wach (Koletzki / Mike Vamp Remixes) : Stil Vor Talent : 12"
Berlin - mecca of the sleepless, home of the endless party, the place where the night turns into day and the day into the night. Finally someone has managed to translate the ultimate Berlin experience into a track! The latest single on Stil vor Talent "3 Tage Wach", which translates as "3 Days Awake", perfectly embraces the relentless afterhour madness that happens in Berlin on a daily basis. Party animal Oliver Koletzki hooked up with acclaimed produced Lützenkirchen and singer Mike Vamp churning out this honest piece of vocal-based afterhour sound. "3 days awake, buzzing, buzzing, buzzing, up and down, slowly you get weak, coloured pills, afterhour before the hour - 3 days awake". Reminiscent of Green Velvet classic La La Land this tune is gonna set things straight at the afterhour and remind everyone that the time to go home has not yet come. When sleeping and eating does not feel like the right thing to do yet, just enjoy the moment and stay awake. pille palle alle pralle. druff druff druff druff druff. verpeilt und verschallert, alle verballert. druff druff druff druff druff.

TR1009
Todd Terry : Sunday Morning : Tony Records : 12"
C'mon get up! Get up! It's Sunday and time to go to church! Gents hold on to your bibles, Ladies hold on to your hats & fans as DJ drop this crazy Sunday Evening Mix on the "congregation".Sean McCabe from the Blak Beat Niks put the "S" in stomp with this track. Just listen to the thick, pounding kick of the…Boom! Stomp! Clap! Soulful guitar riffs and the base organ that roll in tandem with the guitar taking the energy level pass infinity. Another organ wheezes, whines, shakes and wiggles against the groove, while the strings carry the original melody. The modulations are too intense and will drive any dance floor crazy and have them begging for more. No time to catch your breath, just say a few Sister Hail Sweet Marys and take up the collection plate for this remix. The Lord is definitely in the House! Clap Beats included. The Kenny Dope Remix truly pulls out the rawness of the euphoria experienced in those store-front holy dens. The riveting samba-hyped percussions, tickling electro-styled keyboards boil under Withers' declaration of there's something going on with the "collection plate" money! Very dramatic and intense! Kenny Dope's Dub never wavers; it's just as gritty filled with electro-house energy. The Tee's Original Mix presents an unaccented straight forward four-to-the-floor kick, ping pong percussion, various accented electro and acoustic instrumentation that set the listener/dancer up, builds then releases into a house music frenzy. The Tee's Sunday Dub is definitely a hyped up DJ's tool, the electro sound effects support the funky bassline, gurgling percussion with intermittent drops for dance floor reaction. A very gritty dub! Overall, "Sunday Morning" is definitely a peak hour electro Holiness-Sanctified Church stomper! Written and produced by: Todd Terry. Engineered by: Bill Klatt. Sunday Evening Mix & Clap Beats Remixed by: Sean McCabe for Melodious Recordings. Executive Producer: TonyHumphries.

Deepswing Ft Brijai Harvey : Listen To My Power : Generate : 12"
This ain't right, it's clear to see... so now you're gonna listen to the power in me! Generate Music & Deepswing Productions introduces a new POWERHOUSE singer to the house music scene.  This new star with quality talent is Brijai Harvey. BriJai was recommended to Generate Music by Chance (Rise Up & Rescue Me) who is a talent within herself.  The result from the first vocal session with BriJai was this track "Listen to My Power!" and because of her talent, this track has all the key ingredients to take it to the top! Worldwide everyone can relate to this subject matter in the song. It's time to show that we are tired of what we see and that we can make changes if we get together and let our voices be heard! Generate Music delivers 4 standout mixes to satisfy all DJ & Radio show styles.  Soularis' cool laid back, full of soul "Sun Soaked Mix" is just what is needed to really start the crowd going.  Rob King & Steve Baca deliver a radio friendly hit remix to take the song to new heights.  Deepswing comes in with The Market Mix that is a stomp on the floor and wave your hands to let everyone know that you are feeling the energy.  That particular mix name is courtesy of the vibe you feel at the nightclub in Melbourne "The Market".  To round out the mixes, is another one by Deepswing, the funky Airex Groove mix with the classic Rhodes sounds and jazzy undertones!

He impressed people like Ricardo Villalobos, Onur Özer, Radioslave, Monika Kruse, Karotte and Luciano with his first release on Cécille. Cannibals is not only a three tracker. It's three records in one. Every track has such a strong character and an awesome vibe. But make your own decision. Hope you enjoy...

Art Bleek : Euphorized : Connaisseur Recordings : 12"
In a scene, where many producers have never learned to play an instrument, Arthur Pochon aka Art Bleek is an exception. At the age of 6, he started playing the piano. Following his graduation from the prestigious Paris Conservatory after 12 years of studying saxophone and music theory, he went to the no less famous Boston Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship. After all this intensive studying, he started to work in a major Paris recording studio, where he complemented his knowledge with the handicraft of professional music production. In 2001, Art Bleek started to release his first tracks on compilations. He played the saxophone alongside deejays and started spinning an eclectic blend of Jazz, Nu-Jazz, Broken Beats, Bossa-Nova, World and Electro Jazz records in Hip Parisian bars and restaurants himself. At the end of 2004, Art Bleek signed a record contract with Lounging Records. He released his first album there, followed by a single, two EPs and a remix album.

Johnny D : Orbitalife : Oslo : 12"
After making a statement with his Gualia EP, Johnny D continues his story of feel for groove and ecstatic party with his Orbitalife EP, giving us another proof of his extraordinary talent. Absolutely funky and without any compromises, that's Orbatilife. Despite it's length, it never looses it's suspense. Or is the length that makes it so exiting? An earthquake that shakes every dancers body to the core. Intelligently set breaks and a percussion groove here and there takes the crowd up to heaven, just to let them fall back on their feet for the next second. Pure explosion! Riddim mood' tells another percussive story. The longer you hear it, it creeps deeper and deeper into your mind and a gentle chord slowly lifts you up from the ground…

It's their third release together (after "Marketel & Marketim"-Marketing Rcds and "Dog or Vodka" - Crack&Speed rcds) and you can expect here some great dance combos while listening to this two tracker. First song 'The Fork' is a sharp piece of modern techno: straightforward grooves and acid lines make it a dancefloor monster !!! 'The Trout' would certainly be so far the ideal crossover between their styles… It builds slowly from a very simple groove and elements after elements, it grows and turns into an hectic and deranged piece of house music.

With a massive beat and a hard hitting piano stab the track winds itself through any soundsystem and when the old school 90's strings fall in you can be assured that the crowd goes crazy… On the flip Daso proves his skills with an even tighter techno mix of the original. With his latest work for SPECTRAL and CONNAISSEUR he is on the top of the game and we are very proud to have him on board with this excellent remix, It's amongst his best productions to date !

Tony Lionni : Papaia EP : Versatile  : 12"
Tony Lionni is the new signing here at Versatile. Born in Liverpool, his love for the music was passed on to him by his father, a record collector and former DJ, who introduced him to crate-digging at the early age of eight. His roots stem from black music. Hip-hop will become his musical bases before he discovers the acid-house explosion at the mythical Hacienda in Manchester. He naturally starts mixing in the late 80's/early 90's, playing a mixture of rare groove, deep-jazz, deep house, etc. He then turns to production and is noticed by Gilb-R's fine-tuned ears who signs him on the spot. Releases on labels like Wavetec and Mulemusiq are planned further in the year. Listening to Papaia one can't help to think that 2008 will be the year that progressive house will make its comeback. It has been a long time since we had heard such a simple and effective kick and bass intro. The hi-hat then come in along with a small acid sound. The filter opens before the rhythm accelerates. In the middle of the track, the main melody gets dropped in, arms raise and the listener gets lost in the darkness of the night. On the B side, Shuffle explores the deeper roots of Lionni. The title is surely a reference to the beat, which is predominant in this track. Once again the hi-hats are up infront mixed to percussive sounds, which undulate to the rhythm of the bass, making this track an essential tool, ready-to-use and be mixed into almost anything.

Nake Sharco : Python Cowgirls : Was Not Was : 12"
Nake Sharco is not the name of a mean, dangerous bounty hunter with a big-ass mohawk and bizeps like ox thighs but stands for the unexpected collaboration of premium canadian techno auteur MIKE SHANNON ( Cynorsure ) and spanish purveyor of elegant deephouse and Loudeast label boss NACHO MARCO, who are nevertheless out to nail down some punters and lock them on the floor with this powerful 3 tracker. During a longer sojourn of Mike in Valencia both producers got together and obviously found a common denominator in classic Chicago House since the original version of "Python Cowgirl" with it's back massaging rubber bassline, the nervous swinging hi-hats and the simple yet spirited melody dissolves the supposed oppossition of raw energy and meditativeness after the recipe of lets say vintage Cajual releases or early Glenn Underground productions. both artists then give interpretations in their individual style with MIKE SHANNON displaying his diamond-edged production skills with a freaky, polyrhythmic take, while Nacho Marco follows in the vein of his recent Freerange debut with a remix that seasons no-nonsense house beats with Aril Brikha-style detroit techno chords. resistance is futile, give yourself up to Nake Sharco!

Seth Troxler & Patrick Russell : Valt Trax : Circus Company : 12"
Detroit artists Seth Troxler & Patrick Russell join forces for their first EP "Valt Trax" on Circus Company in what is obviously a successful piece of teamwork. Seth Troxler, now living in Berlin, has been attracting attention with his spacey, funky atmospheric releases on labels such as Spectral, Items & Things (as Thrill Cosby), Omar_S's FXHE ( as Young Seth), Esperanza, Beretta Grey, Leftroom, and Dumb Unit, moving into more and more interesting territories with every one of his releases. Long time electronic music veteran and well known DJ, famous for his sets at some of the most notorious warehouse parties in Detroit, the name name Patrick Russel will ring a bell with anyone familiar with the Detroit electronic music scene since the early 90's. The idea behind the EP was to recreate a vibe identical to that of the heyday of underground dance music and instant insanity of the early 90's on a record that sounds like it was lost in a dusty vault for 20 years and just rediscovered. The A full side "Doctor Of Romance" is dark, raw, dirty house with a serious mental twist repetitive hypnotic vocals. aereal techno funk with a vocal underlay keeping it minimal but funked up throughout the track. The B side opens up with "Last Date", a melodramatic retro art house slow jam with vocals by Lavell Williams. B2 "Love Spray" takes us to their most industrial and beatdown version of underground house.. blunted house beats, broken beats, moaning voices, baked tribal rythms results in a beautifully produced slow motion but at the same time powerful track. Drums, hiss, and grit!

Deadbeat : Take Me Back To London Town : Cynosure : 12"
Much to our delight, it seems the techno bug has once again bitten our resident dub meister and man about Berlin, Deadbeat aka Scott Monteith, who on this his latest outing for Cynosure, offers up 3 stormers that once again prove he has more than a few tricks up his sleeve. The proceedings begin with Heathrow Express, a churning dub techno epic certain to appeal to fans of the equally massive Mecca recently released by our friends at Wagon Repair. A chugging tribal rhythm and trademark Deadbeat stabs fight for space in a sea of impossibly heavy bass, slowly building to an explosive space echoed climax of. On Bubble and Squeak, Deadbeat momentarily turns off the echo and reverb tank to create a slab of filthy, bone dry funk, certain to have the more active DJs among us happily slicing and dicing this one to pieces in the mix. For Fans of Deadbeat's work with Stephen Beaupre as Crackhaus will no doubt rejoice at hearing the disks final track, an odd ball dedication to every DJs favorite club land character, the Heckler. Black Ark style sound effects and a throbbing house groove combine with a hilarious mid-song punch line to create brilliant slice of shimmering dub house, destined to be a main stay in many a crate as the warmer weather arrives.

TSPORK032
Jay Haze / Ricardo Villalobos : Ass To Mouth / Free Ride : Tuning Spork : 12"
The lead single from Jay Haze's new album Love & Beyond, arriving 28 April. o A jacking floor-filler powered by Jay's previously unknown beatboxing skills. o Features exclusive B-side "Free Ride", a collaboration with Ricardo Villalobos. Jay Haze's upcoming album Love & Beyond is set to win over new fans, confuse longtime followers, and piss off the haters as Jay takes things to the next level. Available on 2xCD (digital soul and instrumental beatscapes) and 2xLP (entirely different tracks of dance material), the album is a noticeable departure from his back catalog (which nears 100 releases if you include his numerous aliases and side projects). "Ass to Mouth" is the first single, driven by layers of Jay's own voice - breathing, cooing, and clicking - combined with ominous synth lines, resulting in a bouncy, sweaty workout track. "Ass to Mouth" is inspired by classic Chicago house, yet wouldn't sound out of place on Missy Elliott's So Addictive or Björk's Medúlla. In addition to a stripped-down a cappella version, this single includes the non-album B-side "Free Ride," a 10-minute spacious groove co-produced with his buddy Ricardo Villalobos, showcasing the synergy between two of the most forward-thinking producers in the global techno/house community.

Poker Flat Recordings : Dead Man's Hand : Poker Flat : 2XCD
The start of a new year marks the arrival of the sixth dedicated compilation from the world-renowned Poker Flat imprint. Just like the notorious 'Dead Man's Hand' in a high stakes all-nighter, this double CD release is full of carefully judged mind games and more than a few winning surprises! Dead Man's Hand follows strong Poker Flat CD releases like Trentemøller (The Last Resort - PFRCD18) and "Bets'n'Bluffs" (PFRCD19). The first half of the compilation is dealt out in traditional style by none other than label figurehead and internationally revered DJ and Producer Steve Bug. Bug's success behind the decks somewhat mirrors the success of Poker Flat's inimitable sound, and his 'Compiled by…', unmixed CD shows off exactly that! CD 2 contains a fantastic mix presented by key label name and one half of the critically acclaimed Märtini Brös, Clé. The German DJ and Producer, who also collaborates with Steve Bug, has chosen 13 more Poker Flat past and future classics for the 'Dead Man's Hand' Mix. 'Dead Man's Hand' sums up perfectly the ethos of the label, that is, to produce genre defining electronic music, that works perfectly whether inside the head or on the dancefloor. If the selection, depth and field of music available here says one thing about this label of labels, it is that its Here to Stay, and its not about to start doing things quietly! Dapayk & Padberg : Black Beauty (Dapayk / Guido Schneider Remixes) : Mo's Ferry : 12"
Dapayk & Padberg's "black beauty" single was played back and forth in summer 2007. Short after their appendant album attracted great interest even beyond the borders of the clubscene (i.e. Dapayk & Padberg received the Musikexpress StyleAward for "Best Performer Domestic"). One reason is a reorientation, they turned away from the established and over used minimal clubsound of the past years. Now, the "black beauty rmxs pt.1" brings together PokerFlat member Guido Schneider on the A-side and Mo's Ferry label head Dapayk on the flip side. Guido Schneider's minimal and subtle production skills and his focus on a very functional style o not only reflect on his own releases. With remixes for Steve Bug, Andre Galuzzi, Plastikman and others he made himself a long-time favoured remix producer for the Mo's Ferry crew. His version of "theiss" takes the melody parts of the original, replaces the breakbeat by a straight bassdrum/hihat functionalism and pays special attention to a matchless flowing pace. Dapayk reworked one of the album skits called "pantomime horse". He not only raised the tempo, but instead he developed the theme to a new floor-oriented version. Despite the punching 4/4 bassdrum he keeps on playing with the mainly acoustic drum sounds from the original. HipHop-Minimal-Crossover!

P. Toile : Piano Piano (Sven Tasnadi Remix) : Mothership : 12"
At the forefront of the new wave of German techno, P.Toile and her co-producer Alexander Krueger (aka Tigerskin, aka Dub Taylor) have created a jittery, bubbly bomb without a piano in sight. Propelled by chopped up vocals and rolling snares, "Piano Piano" conjures up images of an 18-wheeler chugging down a lonely highway on a rainy night, receiving fractured instructions over a faulty CB radio. Midway through the track, ethereal pads pierce through the darkness. The rain stops, the clouds part, and the melodic percussion hammers back in. Sven Tasnádi has dominated Cargo Edition's recent release schedule with his own unique productions as well as collaborations with Daniel Stefanik, so we are understandably excited about his first contribution to mothership. Sven's 'Adventsfrequenz rimüxx' pulls us even deeper, exploring "Piano Piano's" main chords from a percolating underwater world. A steadily building groove unfurls majestically on the ocean floor, punctuated by rolling congas and sudden crashes, as if a hurricane raged on the water's surface.

HELLO010CD
Bruno Pronsato : Why Can't We Be Like Us : Hello Repeat Records : CD
If archetypal rock music claims Satisfaction" then the rhythmachine requieres emotion" wrote Kodwo Eshun in his 1998 book "More Brilliant Than The Sun: Adventures in Sonic Fiction." Today, almost ten years later, his theory is still correct, and it shows that his idea is explosive when the rhythmachine is programmed against the common sense. Steven Ford aka Bruno Pronsato knows all of this, because he knows rock music and its creative dead end street. He knows because he played in several rock bands in his hometown of Seattle, trying time and again to play the same songs, and the same rhythms in new ways. But that's a long time ago. Now, more than five years later, he generates music via synthezisers and computers - emotional rhythms far beyond any kind of cliché. His new longplayer "Why can't we be like us" embodies his old passion for playing the drums as well as his addiction to ones and zeros. Instead of creating streamlined minimal, he has more of an abstract sound on his mind - one that lives on a dark, organic and percussive note. Nothing really new, he has always been unpredictable and funky with an organic twist between the beats. His tracks often rely on devious turns, flickering sounds, warm basslines and some free riding vocals. They still do, but more importantly now, they are more musical, more space filling and above all, much more percussive. His intention here is to provide you with a long player - not a compilation of danceable clubtracks. He wants to tell a story and he does it with nine long, grooving compositions that are full of rhythms that twist around bubbling sounds that seem to launch out of his very own inner space: sometimes a piano melody is dancing in space, then an undefinable vibrancy chirps out of the background, and in the next moment some unheared buzzing sighs in time and space. The only real red threat you can feel deeply is a soulful climax towards the last track "Why Can't We Be Like Us". A story-arc that makes his album l

WAG034
Mathew Jonson : Symphony For The Apocalypse : Wagon Repair : 12"
Another new year heralds another dimension to the output of Wagon Repair label head and criminally talented producer Mathew Jonson, as 'Symphony For The Apocalypse' looks to the ultimate end at the beginning of 2008. Just as the 'Stop EP' in 2007 introduced an introspective and personal contrast to his role as one third of the extroverted Cobblestone Jazz, this single further explores some of the darker edge noticeable in Cobblestone's acclaimed debut album '23 Seconds. Opener 'Twin Cobras' is a deep and technical dissection of techno and dub, with some stark industrial influences reminiscent of Skinny Puppy and the colder Warp output. Complex tinny percussion is smoothed by a lulled synth melody and livened up with buzzing sine tones to the distant sound of pad explosions. Hypnotically it subtly snakes and scales to a rapturous peak before unleashing it's bite. On the flip side, title track 'Symphony For The Apocalypse' opens with a lone affected horn melody and sparse pads that lead into a creeping cyclical passage. Metallic percussion rides high in the mix, eclipsed by a cold and needling static synth that leads a cataclysmic climax.
