Ticksky : Member
Of The Trick 10 More Meerkats : Sonar Kollectiv : 12"
For this
episode of the ‘Members Of The Trick’ series, Trickski, Phonique, Solomun,
Yannick L and Skwerl offer an astonishing remix 12”. •Berlin’s hot DJ duo Trickski
aka Daniel Becker and Yannick Labbé have managed to set an incredibly high
standard with their pioneering ‘Member Of The Trick’ series. In nine releases
they showed impressive production and A&R skills. Big names such as CARL
CRAIG, Laurent Garnier, DJ T, Peter Kruder, Tiefschwarz, Jazzanova, Christian
Prommer and Roland Appel (amongst many others) support them, chart their
releases and play their records in front of thousands of people. For the tenth
12” of the series, Daniel and Yannick had to put the icing on the cake - they
chose three of their favourite tracks presented on the ‘Members Of The Trick’
compilation, resulting in ultimate remix treatments by Phonique, Skwerl and
Trickski themselves. •Mladen Solomun aka Solomun has been one of Trickski’s
greatest discoveries over the course of their 12” series. Whereas the original
version of ‘Black Rose’ was a nice house number with sublime layers of strings
and an unforgettable piano hook, Daniel and Yannick turned it into a very deep
house affair that will turn many heads upside down. They gave a new pace to
Solomun’s anthem with a 4/4 bass beat pounding over high pitched arpeggios and
an ever-rolling bassline and made the track a pure Detroit-minded burner of a
remix that builds up and breaks in a moment of bliss just when you want it to.

Pepe Bradock :
Intriguing Feathered Creature : Avatisme : 12"
The
reclusive, enigmatic individualist and auteur of electronic music PEPE BRADOCK
created with “Intriguing feathered creatures” another intense masterpiece that
is so unmistakably him: stomping, multi-layerd beats that sound so loose and
funky as machine rhythms can possibly get, the bubbly walking bassline which
could be an on-spot improvisation by some jazz great, moody loops running
backwards topped by a grinding steel drum melody and frantic, psychedelic
chirping sounds as made from mechanical windup birds. a mystical end of the
night tune ending in animated birdsounds that accompany you from the dark club
into the morning sun and inspire to spend a resting day out in the country -
partie de campagne.

Mashed

Yeah, we know..... we were apprehensive too when we were told to listen to it
too but this is an amazing mash up. The idea may sound like a car crash of sins
against music, in reality this is a well produced, ingenious, creative and fun
piece of audio ear candy that is sure to work on absolutely any dancefloor. A

TWOFACES005
Björn Leineweber
: Dieser Ton, Lars Sommerfeld Remix : Twofaces : 12"
The
latest release on Two Faces shows a slightly different side of the label and
introduces the new artist Björn Leineweber. Björn combines modern electronic
clubmusic with rock and punk influences and his special german vocals to a very
own style. The original mix of “Dieser Ton” shows his full talent for writing
exceptional lyrics, beautiful harmonies and creating unique sound designs. A
track with a lot of feelings. On A2 we find Position:Greenfield - an artist out of the
label environment. He developed a remix with classic techno elements and
unexpected variances. A track for the early morning hours to deeply touch the
crowd. On the flip the label boss himself makes a very compact groovy floorburner.
Perhaps one of the hits in 2008 ;-) No more words needed.

Superfunk :
Electric Dance (Mondo & Baxter Remix) : Royal Flush : 12"
Funky
French House formation from Marseilles. Superfunk was first composed of Fabrice Texier (Fafa
Monteco), Hamdi Hassen (Mike 303) and Stéphane Bonan (credited as Stephane B on
most releases). After the success of "New Jersey" as Dealers De Funk, the trio
released several club tracks on the Fiat Lux label. The album "Hold
Up" followed in 2000, which contained the original versions of club
favourites "Last Dance", "Lucky Star" and "The Young
MC". Shortly after, Fafa Monteco left the trio to concentrate on a
solo DJ career. Bonan and Hassen then decided to team up with Le Sascha.

The Doubtful
Guest : Acid Sauna : Planet Mu : 3x12"
The
Doubtful Guest’s debut album ushers in a new era of acid. Gone are the electro
party jams, gone the funky squiggle. This is dark, suffocating stuff full of
nightmares and claustrphobic details that send shivers up your spine.
References would include Coil, Marc Acardipane, Scott Brown or Neophyte. Not
afraid to show her classical upbringing (she trained as an opera singer) and
jazz heritage (granddaughter of J.B. Floyd), Libby Floyd (London resident formerly of Chicago) has infused the sound
of rave with doom and dread. Inducing panic on the dancefloor, cuts like the
eleven minute ’Slaves’ build into writhing acid anthems that ebb and flow like
some viscous substance in your mind. Cut and mastered at 45 rpm on triple vinyl
for maximum playability and reproduction of detail.

by almost every label on any old release these days, this is one of the few
times where it definitely is required. Every track on these 3 pieces of vinyl have
never before been released and are produced specifically for this product. Carl
Craig, Karizma, DJ Sneak, Peter Kruder, Sandy Rivera, Zed Bias – the list just
goes on and on. Any serious House DJ who doesn’t get their hands on these
releases should hang up their headphones in shame.

NRK138
Spiritcatcher :
Brain Candy EP : NRK : 12"
Spirit
Catcher continue to produce solid, heavy synth club cuts, and this two track EP
on NRK is no exception. •Jean Vanesse and Thomas Sohet AKA Spirit Catcher
really need no introduction, suffice to say that releases on labels such as
2020 Vision, Freerange, Winding Road, Silver Network and Moodmusic have all
captured the Spirit Catcher unique sound since 2003. •‘Brain Candy’ is a
perfectly executed club track, the heavy, thick synth riff and precision drums
drives this energetic yet deep house cut, finding its influences in classic
European productions like Giorgio Moroder's ‘The Chase’. A well timed break
halfway through the track ushers in some nice thick and uplifting chords, and
boy do we love chords like these. •On the flip, ‘Loving System’ is perhaps more
typical of the Spirit Catcher, a quirky, mid paced, funk-laiden synth workout,
with that all essential thick analogue sound so loved by these Belgians.

Ralf Gum feat
Monique Bingham : Kissing Strangers (F. Feliciano / Raw Artistic Soul Remixes)
: Gogo : 12"
Kissing
Strangers” is the perfect example for Ralf GUM’s deep love for timeless,
sophisticated music and another top-release for his GOGO Music label. In the
business since 1991 Ralf always followed his musical mission with absolut
straightness. Since the first time he got in touch with housemusic he was
hooked and while other artists seem to change their style just like their
underwear, Ralf always kept true to what he feels uncompromisingly. After
releases on various top imprints, he founded his own GOGO Music in 2001. His
strict search for meaningful tunes that are not only totally danceable, but
also tickle the mind of the listener brought him great plaudit as a producer,
remixer and worldwide respected DJ since many years now. In a busy 2007 with
about 150 DJ gigs, various remix works and own single productions Ralf GUM
managed to finish as well his first full length album “Uniting Music” which is
forthcoming in April 2008. Taken from this album “Kissing Strangers” is the
harbinger what to expect. Based on a slick groove with fine live
instrumentation it features no one less than New York’s Monique Bingham on vocals.

MOOD058
Naughty : World
Of A Woman (Max Skiba / The Green Men Remixes) : King Of Kong : 12"
The
recent Naughty hit “World of A Woman” (mood-053) gets the remix treatment from Polands best kept secret Max
Skiba and from the Buzzin Fly project The Green Men aka Sasse and Nick Chacona.
Max Skiba turns this monster Deep House tune into a disco odyssey of humongous
proportions. Already dropped by Ewan Pearson and Sasse in all their sets this
sets the trend for the winter season 2008 - smooth bumpy nu-disco meets house
production, vintage string stabs and excellent mooglines pushes the melody from
the original bringing the smile on your face even on ketamin. Even seen dropped
in middle of Ewans harder electronic sets, this has set the floor on blaze a
few times in the last months.. The Nu Yorican Berlin connection of Nick Chacona
and Sasse drops their Green Men guise once again into the fire and turn out a
bigger-than-life electronic warfare meets Stanley Kubrick widescreen
experience, feeding the original bassline thru their Cosmic delays and bringing
the whole thing up a notch in energylevel, before dropping more keys and crazy
Nuphonic vibes. This is supposed to be the 90´s man !

“DistTheme” is the name of this long awaited 3-tracker. The last two years have
been busy for the two Hamburg based Extrawelt guys. Single releases on Cocoon and Traum and
remix work on labels such as Underwater, Confused, Different and Global
Underground on the one hand and heavy touring all around the globe on the other
hand - that have been busy times indeed. Besides this extraordinary schedule,
we got the chance to pick these three energetic tracks and now we got them

Teknica
Rekords is the result of a long talk of minds four years ago between two
pioneers of the Portuguese electronic scene, Ricardo Marques (Jiggy) and Carlos
Fauvrelle (Morrice). Their first collaboration dates from 2004 when Carlos
suggested releasing Jiggy’s first single on Lajja recordings where he was
co-label owner. Two years later, they realized they did a bunch of tracks with
these watchwords on their minds: seek, explore, innovate and experiment,
without the immediate obligations of what we know to be the record industry.
The priorities were to be minimal and spontaneous. Teknica it will be more than
just minimal tracks, it will be mirror of personal tastes that will include
banging techno to deep cuts and the possible success will be longevity and its
reputation as a breeding ground of quality. Fun and unpredictable!!!

Mike Wall :
Loose Changes : Metroline : 12"
Metroline
Limited kick off their vinyl output in style with solid 4 tracker by
Berlin-based producer Mike Wall featuring a storming remix by Plus 8’s
Skoozbot. •Call them old-fashioned, but the folks at Metroline Limited love the
sound of a needle hitting plastic as much as anyone. After eight excellent
digital EPs and two compilations online, Metroline thought it time to make
something you can feel between your fingers as well as between your ears. •For
their first vinyl release Metroline are very pleased to have Mike Wall onboard.
Following some very strong releases and remixes on labels such as Safari
Electronique, Merestief, Produkt and Catenaccio Records, Mike delivers a
barnstorming EP for Metroline Limited. •It all starts with the deep percussive
roller that is ‘Loose Changes’. Fusing elements of Sahko-esque minimalism with
jacking percussion and paranoia-inducing synth stabs to create a unique
atmospheric soundscape. •‘Fonokult’ is a bit more playful with a slightly
warmer feel and nice uplifting percussion loops. As with ‘Loose Changes’, the
structure of the track is fluid and unpredictable. It keeps you on your toes.
•The Skoozbot remix of ‘Fonokult’ is very special. The man behind one of this
summer’s big surprises (‘Next To Monchhichi’, released on Plus 8) delivers
another revelation. What starts out as a spacious, dubbed-out take on the
original quickly turns into a floor filler as an infectious bassline winds its
way into and through the tune. •Mike rounds things off with ‘The Swan’. Solid,
floor-focus beats combine with razor sharp percussion to create an intense
pounder. There’s even a huge snare roll hidden in there for anyone who really
misses the 1990’s. •Berlin’s Mike Wall is building an excellent reputation for himself as a
DJ, producer and remixer. He is also becoming well-known for his live sets,
which follow on the experimental sound structures, glitches, bleeps and
basslines you find in his productions. He owns the Toppaz Digital label and has
had great success in finding new talent.

Paul
Woolford aka Bobby Peru makes his A&R debut in the shape of one of Argentina’s most exciting techno
partnerships, Plan Tec (Juan Pablo Pfirter and Jonas Kopp). •Fetish’ is
what you might call uncompromising techno. A splash of Erotic Discourse and
shades of classic Relief Chicago Cajmere/Green Velvet techno sounds. •Woolford
loved the track so much that he's raised up his alter-ego, Bobby Peru, to
provide a devastating remix. A full techno symphony in three parts, stretching
over ten minutes. This is the sound of a producer at the top of his game.
•Hailing from Buenos Aires, Plan Tec have releases out on a number of respected
labels, including the mighty Spectral Sounds as well as Stockholm Ltd, MindTrip
Music, Acktivism Recordings and GHRK. •Plan Tec’s sound has reached the ears of
some of the most influential names on the electronic music scene, including:
Sven Vath, Matthew Dear, Chris Liebing, Luciano, Chris Portier, Christian
Smith, and Eddie Richards. •DJ feedback on this EP has been overwhelmingly
positive with a huge number confirming that they’re playing it in clubs and on
the radio.

it has rarely been heard in such a refreshing shape of surprising shifts in direction,

Moritz Piske :
Slipless In Seattle, Matt Star Rmx : Opossum : 12"
After
Format:B made quite an impact on the last record, Moritz Piske took up the
challenge after some time at leisure and now aims to let the bomb go off in the
streets of America: For this reason, Moritz first travelled to Seattle where he
meandered kind of lost, so to say, and without his pants. Unfortunately we do
not know if he passed on his undergarments on purpose and only for PR reasons
or due to simple obliviousness…well, nevermind. Having finally stripped right
up on the Space Needle viewpoint, Mr. Piske surprised some stunned tourists
with a spontaneous gig using his travelling-espresso cups. Luckily some
Japanese guy identified him at once and taped the whole event on his video
camera. The tape reached us labelled “Slipless in Seattle”, so we recorded this
wicked gig and put it on a1 right away… Moritz went on to L.A. where he met up with the
genie of the unforgettable Scatman John, who gave him some useful advice for
his future career in the music bizz. A crucial experience for Moritz and on
Johns very own request, they did a track together where they implemented pieces
of this interview into “Scatfunk” - as Johns message from Nirvana to all of
you! For the cherry on the cake, a talented young guy from cosy little Offenbach named Matt Star was
called to interpret one of those tracks his very own way. Accidentally he got
hold of the ingredients of both tracks from Mr. Piske, which he mixed up
completely and brought them to new live as one track, spaced up with some real
star appeal and a guaranteed portion of techno for your very own pleasure.

AUS0810
Sian : Wear Your Scars Like Medals,
R.appel Rmx : Aus : 12"
The
tenth release from Aus Music is a tasty little bomb from Sian to kick off the new
year. Graham Goodwin aka Sian is a Dublin native raised gypsy style in southern Spain. As a self confessed
workaholic-spaced-out-nature-junkie’, his commitment to the avant garde
lifestyle has seen him grace decks at the nicest clubs and festivals in the
world. He’s also released two albums and many singles on labels as diverse as
Pokerflat, Dessous, Karmarouge, Dirtcrew and Einmaleins. His own label is
Octopus, which we’ll be bringing you a great deal more of in 2008. Wear Your
Scars Like Medals - has a very different vibe to Sian’s first outing on Aus, his lush, melodic ‘Apple
Tree’. ‘Wear Your Scars..’ is an all together darker, more brooding affair.
With no bass line to speak of and sirens and toms carrying the majority of the
melody this can be classed as a truly tribal excursion. Roland Appel Remix - Taking
the pitch of Sian’s sirens as the melodic
starting point Roland builds a hypnotic deep techno track that is reminiscent
of early Planet E releases. A gradual percussive build that continually evolves
until reaching an anthemic peak. Roland Appel is best known to us as a member
of quality nu jazzers Fauna Flash and Trüby Trio. But in the past year he’s
been releasing as Roland Appel on Berlin’s excellent Sonar Kollectiv label. 2007 say him
release two sublime dark techno hits - the epic Dark Soldier and Unforgiven.
Remember kids - an appel a day keeps the doctor away.

Face Is A.. Deetron, M.broom Rmxs : Beasone : 12"
That Gel
Abril is destined to be one of the main producer of 2008 is already clear to a
lot of djs and producers worldwide. Be As One, Ovum, Renaissance all these
great labels have already put their hands on this Tel Aviv based guy, and the
remix package of his new single ” Your face is a mess” including three of the
most interesting artists of the past year, is just a confirmation of Gel’s
destiny to climb up high. Deetron’s not a stranger to the electronic music
world. He’s been constantly in the spotlights of the scene for many years, and
now once again he proves why. His 10 minutes marathon remix on the A side
really stands out for its superb programming throughout the entire track.
Starting building things up slowly it relentlessly delivers the goods with one
of his best work to date. On the B side, it’s the hottest UK techno producer Mark
Broom who joins the Be As One crew bringing all his experience to serve the
cause. Another winner! Closing the package, Itamar Sagi, one of BAO’s new
artists, delivers a very interesting and original “jazz meets Detroit” mix and gives the
package the right balance between the techno genres. A storming rework from a
fresh talented producer that cannot help but keep the eyes of “those in the

Vincenzo : The
Resident : Dessous : 12"
Dessous’
next sultry offering comes courtesy of long-term label artist Vincenzo Ragone.
Once again presenting two bona fide electronic house tracks, the Berlin based DJ and Producer
shows off his experience with effortless arrangements and flowing, natural
grooves. Both sides of this record are swathed in subtlety and reverence for
the genre, yet still guaranteed to rock! ‘The Resident’ enters our head space
with weighty, precise percussion, slowly morphing into the warm synth stabs
that become the focus of the track. Autumnal and tense, its energy and
sentiment are central to Vincenzo’s sound. Indeed, true to its father’s roots,
the track soon begins its journey towards an all-important and memorable
breakdown.Easy to digest and ever-so addictive, ‘The Resident’ is a true
example of how to build up an atmosphere and just run with it…As a testament to
that ethos, ‘The Shadow People’ constructs a delicious slow burning groove, reminiscent
of those last few moments of hypnosis on the dancefloor when the party reaches
its final peak. Resolution, Balance and Harmony are at the heart of this
disco-tinged night-ender, sure to take the crowd into another real music
moment, something that Vincenzo is already well known for!

- macadame shamanbo: Rose, girlfriend and DJ partner of fellow Parisian Ulysse

Dense, funked up percussion and a driving sub bassline ensure the energy is
maintained while an array of other-worldly samples float above the groove,
making each new powerful transition even more exciting and refreshing!
B_SIDE:-nthony collins - bricolage: Following on the Parisian theme, young
scenester Anthony Collins takes control of the B-side with a lush, synthy
afterhours jam, full of warmth and classic sentiments. Phasing, skipping synths
layer above deep house chords, which in turn twist around a lovely shuffling
groove. Certainly one for those special early morning moments, Collins’ musical
abilities shine through, and he creates a track which sends tingles of
