SYNCCD001
Syncopix
: Icarus : Syncopix : CD
Germany’s
super-producer SYNCOPIX (Hospital / Integral) comes with his highly anticipated
debut album!: 13 brand new & exclusive tracks focusing the club-genre
around 174bpm – in the bag of different a-list DJs from High Contrast to DJ
Marky! “Icarus” finally sees the light of the night. Roland Bogdahn aka
Syncopix took 12 months time to give his heart & soul into this piece of
music. While touring around Europe, Syncopix soaked in manyl different influences and took his
inspirations back into the studio. This concept album reflects the whole
bandwidth from 90s rave-school anthems (“Nightlistener”) to the neon sounds of
the 80s (“Disc Go!”) or even ‘ProgRock’-influenced track (“Anonymous”) that
have already been smashed by D&B pro-league DJ’s like Logistics, London
Electricity, Marky or High Contrast. The sound of “Chronos” , “Embraces &
Curses” (feat.Ruben of Rogue Soul), “Blue Fog” and “Dynamo” is hot
trademark-liquid funk that Syncopix has been known for since his releases on
labels like Hospital, Liquid V or Integral. Rounding up a beautiful and
uncompromising album (…it’s all about Drum&Bass …) “ICARUS” comes up with
great sleeve design by Ricky Trickartt whós known for his artwork skills and
originality for many clients like Hospital, John B, PlayMusik, MedSchool &
many more . Try to catch Syncopix playing in a club near your hometown on his
tour throughout

Icicle
/ Y Volcon : Broken Fingers / Dub One : Xtinction Agenda : 12"
Icicle
sure knows how to make killer D&B tunes. Icicle takes inspiration from the
dirty basslines of the likes of Jonny L and Optical and the intricate drum
patterns of Photek & Source Direct. ‘Broken Fingers’ is not too
overbearing, just one funky headtrip of a bassline paired with a snappin'
drums. With this approach Icicle's tech funk sounds have quickly earned him DJ
support from Goldie, LTJ Bukem, Fabio, London Elektricity, Pendulum, Andy C,
Hype, Friction, D-Bridge, DJ Flight and Commix no less. Dub-One, otherwise
known as Olly Harmer, is unleashing some serious breakbeat pressure for
reputable imprints like Renegade, MindRush, and Horizons Music. A steadfast
ally of Breakage and Equinox, Dub-One has asserted himself as a credible force
in the dubwize drumfunk community.. ‘Volcon’ is uninhibited amen jungle as it's
finest - pretense and chinstrokery to the way side, dutty rock! Thick, dense
beats and concussion bass that knows no boundaries. X Icicle - Broken Fingers Y

Limited
white label release. A heady mix of Jungle Techno, funk and fear, Skitty’s tune
"Victim" which has been described by Vicious Circle as "the
death march blud" ‘NLP’ keeps the vibes dirty on the flipside. Filthy
stepping beats, pounding sub bass and dark alley atmospherics.

Another
high quality release from one of the hottest talents in the scene, Apex. Fresh
from huge success on Hospital and Lifted Music, Apex shows his deeper side with
a pair of beautiful tracks that sit perfectly on the Horizons Music shelf. A:
Apex - Falling: Opening proceedings with some epic build up business, haunting
strings, widely placed synths and a simple vocal snippet, ‘Falling’ shows just
why Apex is so highly regarded as a producer. Tight beats and a subtle bassline
complete the package and make for a stunning A side. AA: Apex – Weeping Willow
The AA is just as sublime, coming fresh flavoured with more trademark punchy
beats and understated elements that gradually creep in until the ultra-low bass
hits like a wave of heart-warming sonics that’ll move your feet as well as soothe
your soles.

ZOMBIEUK19
Vital
Elements (V2E) : No Getting Out / Culture Riddim : Zombie UK : 12"
4/5 in
iDJ “snappy beats and a humongous twisting and morphing bassline” Back for his
second full release on the Zombie imprint with two choice rave cuts is the
mighty Vital Elements. This guy is getting more and more attention from all
over the scene with every release and it’s looking like 2008 could well be his
year. As he rises rapidly through the ranks, with productions like the two on
offer here, we definitely won’t be surprised when he reaches the top!! ‘No
Getting Out’ is instantly recognisable with a high pitched riff kicking off the
intro. This riff forms the backbone of this track and it keeps on combining
with a whole host of other sneaky sounds and FX’s until the beats come smashing
in along with a meaty bass hit. This is definitely one for the skankers and
wall slappers, as before you know the tracks launched a full on dancefloor
assault, taking no prisoners! ‘Culture Riddim’ sees Vital give a nod to his
Serial Killing alter ego with some serious duplate samples and soundsystem FX’s
straight from a Telepathy 1995 tape pack! This one is all about the switches -
a twisting, turning and morphing bassline ensures that you never quite know
what’s gonna hit you next, keeping the track fresh in the mix and ravers
moving!

ruckus KG. Offering up some floor friendly LFO action on the A side ‘Stronger

subtle switches to hold your interest. ‘Textures & Sound’ on the back side
brings tough beats, percussive flourishes and interspersed bass notes that drop
just right. Lovely jubbly.

Anthem
Alert !!! Clipz shows once again why he is the rockstar of Drum & Bass,
turning up at a gig with a sack full of bass, a pocket full of synths and a
screaming girl on his arm to knock out the inimitable sounds of ‘Ugly’, a pure
machination of the aforementioned elements that slaps the dancefloor like a
jinxed hooker slaps a trick. Flip over and the disgusting sounds of ‘Off Line’
are no departure from classic Clipz’ style, dirtier than a white van.

VIP treatment and this 12″ will provide every DJ with a great way to
incorporate two huge tunes with a new spring in their step into their sets.

always G Dub destroys the dance each and every. Bigger than Britney’s

: Turn Up The Sun / Blinking With Fists : Breakbeat Kaos : 12"
Upfront
& limited promo! Kicking off is the massive ’Turn up the Sun’, which has
been big in sets across clubland over the last few months. Solid two-step
breaks pave the way for a cool undulating b-line that snakes its way along as
its coupled by a hands-in-the-air synth riff, wicked drum edits and a subtly
vocoded vocal. Watch the dance move to this! ’Blinking with Fists’ doesn’t mess
around either with a DJ friendly intro into a breakdown of gorgeous ’be strong’
soothing female vocals and a rising guitar line. This then builds to a large
drop of rich textured bass that punches through the speakers with eerie spaced-out
synths going off over the top to polish off another classy piece from Baron.

ESOTERIC010
Nucleus
& Paradox : B Boy Ascendance / Zenith’s core : Esoteric : 12"
Nucleus
and Paradox return to Esoteric in 2008 and chalk the 10th session in the
enigmatic Esoteric catalogue. ‘B-Boy Ascendance’ is really just that.. two
b-boys plying their trade in a new scene unfamiliar with an illustrious 70’s
b-boy past. The producers dwelve into their library of rare gems and sample
more breaks never used before [yet again] in Dnb to form an infectious groove.
Deep music is the main frame here. Feedback bass with layered female whistling
really set the mood and esoteric-esque samples appear where they shouldn’t in
trademark style. Dark motions drive the mood forward whilst the breaks switch
frequency reminiscent of the Grandmaster Flash and Bootsy Collins days. A
breakdown of eery soundscapes paint a picture of what goes through the
producers minds and when the break reappears its all perfectly clear as the
dark sounds intensify and leave a trail of Nucleus and Paradox’s obsession into
the occult and mystery. On the flip Nucleus and Paradox flip the script 100%
and deliver a beautiful summer roller that will be played for many years to
come. Detriot house style keys and stabs supply the hooks whilst soothing
vocals accompanied by the famous Kurtis Blow break demonstrate the duo’s
versatile capabilities. Key-changes, reverse stabs and breaks take you to a
lush breakdown of synths and vocals, then an celestial motion welcomes back the
breakbeat vibe with vocal harmony’s to perfection. Enjoy Esoteric 10 people !!
Dj support from Calibre, Zero Tolerance, Loxy, Asides, Marky, Outrage, Marcus
Intallex, Dylan, Gremlinz, Bailey, Kryptic Minds, Seba.

Great stuff from the Brand Nu camp this year.

Count & Sinden : Beeper (Jonny L & Qemists Remixes) : Domino : 12"
Limited
White label Vinyl pressing featuring two mixes by drum and bass legend Jonny L
and new school drum and bass front runners, The Qemists. Graeme Sinden is best
known for his work as a unique producer / DJ who has revitalised the club scene
with his own brand of forward thinking remixes and productions, clever mash ups
and genre-melting DJ sets, remixing for the likes of Basement Jaxx, Bonde Do
Role and Mark Ronson. He’s also known for his spot on Kiss FM and residency at
Fabric. Sinden’s own label Counterfeet launched in March 2006, its ethos: to
have an open mind towards club music, releasing records that they believed in.
Production wise, this forged a friendship and musical understanding with Dave
‘Switch’ Taylor and Sinden was very much taken under Switch’s wings to learn
the production game. And then came his collaboration with Joshua Harvey, aka
The Count (aka Hervé), on their project The Count & Sinden.M ‘Beeper’ has
already been playlisted at Radio 1, with further support from all the

Orien
: Look At My Eyes LP : Dub Police : 2x12"
Dub
Police returns from its ‘License To Thrill’ series with the latest recruit to
the ever-expanding list of new dubstep talent coming from the label in the
shape of West London’s DJ Orien. ‘Look At My Eyes’ kicks off the EP in
rip-roaring style – certainly not for the faint hearted. With its uneasy
samples and tearing basslines, it’s not hard to see why it has battered by the
dubstep elite and is one of the most in demand tracks of the moment.’Chasing A
Never Ending Dream’: Orien shows off his diversity with a contrasting track to
the first, with the easy going ‘Chasing A Never Ending Dream’. Luscious pads
and warm strings set the tone on this one before dropping into a nice little
bubbler.’Belly Of The Beast’ Back to business with ‘Belly Of The Beast’, pacey
drums don’t give much away in the intro and leave you unprepared for the
onslaught of bass that lies ahead – this one’s more messed up than Michael
Jackson’s face. ‘Rainbow Teardrops’ Featured on the ‘Fabric Live 37: Caspa
& Rusko’ mix this tune shows again the different styles and flavours of the
EP. ‘Rainbow Teardrops’ is deep roller with a creeping bass and kicked back
melodies. ’Early Morning Sunrise’: Again more chilled out vibes in the shape of
‘Early Morning Sunrise’ with floating strings and pads a tough saw bass, whilst
wondering in and out of a jungle breaks. ‘So Far Gone’:Rounding off the LP is
the brilliant ‘So Far Gone’, which seamlessly trots along with its rave synths
and squelching bass. Orien shows off his diversity as an artist and further
reinforces the Dub Police roster. a Orien - Look At My Eyes b1 Orien - Chasing

With DJ
Support from Skream, N-Type, Mary-Anne Hobbs, Plastician, Oris J, and MRK1,
these two dance-floor smashers have been getting some serious attention. With
the instantly recognisable string intro, Dispute drops into a mad frenzy of
techno percussion layered over the mammoth, sonically-rich bass that has become
Marlow’s trademark. The remix of Everyday is sure to get any dancefloor
rocking. The catchy vocals from Bongo Chilli sit perfectly over the screaming
bass and bleepy synth melody. Be sure to check this.

Whistla
: Heaven / Rollerball : Ox Rider : 12"
With his
releases on his own Ox Rider Records, East London DJ / Producer Whistla has
made a name for himself as one of the most interesting Dubstep producers on the
scene today. Not afraid to push things in new directions he has crafted a sound
which is uniquely his own. The 4th release on the label sees Whistla wearing
his 2-step influences proud with 2 tracks of off kilter garage beats: Heaven
oozes swing and groove. The bass line bubbles around a twisted vocal line
whipping any listener into a frenzy which will see them swiveling across any
dancefloor, studio or bedroom. Rollerball utilizes a tearing break and combines
it with garage shuffle. It pounds subtly with understated mid range wub-wubs.
Like the name suggests, it is a proper roller and totally unlike the ‘conveyor
belt’ productions dubstep churns out today. Firmly part of the Dubstep scene
but conscientiously mutating the UK Garage sound of old, Whistla’s music is
totally compelling and uncompromising. Keep you eyes glued to flyers for where
you can catch Whistla tearing up a dancefloor near you soon.

Kode
9 & The Spaceape : Konfusion : HyperDub : 12"
Kode9
& The Spaceape return with their first fresh collaboration since their
scene-stealing ‘Memories Of The Future’ full length back in mid 2006, and a
version excursion which also serves as a prelude to their new album due later
in 2008. The instrumental to ‘Konfusion’, a breezy, almost horizontally
reclined groove that drops like a ton of gold bricks wrapped in silk, was
produced just after the ‘Memories…’ album was completed and has spent a year
and half gestating on dubplate, featuring in edited form both on Kode9’s Sonar
Mix CD of last summer of 2007 and his infamous November 2007 Rinse Fm
back-to-back radio show with Flying Lotus. The instrumental was recently
vocaled by a chorus of cloned Spaceapes via a glitching, interstellar
walkie-talkie. A warm draft from a summer to come, and frothy man like cresta
lemonade (ask yr dad).

LOSBUD1208004
Morcheeba
: World Looking In (DZ Remix) : Los Bud
At a
point in the very near future, Canadian DZ will have already set the world on
fire, many times over. His tunes are giant in their own right, with releases on
Hot Flush and Black Acre cementing a relationship with an anticipating public.
DZ works on tracks obsessively, and the thing known in whispers as "the
Morcheeba remix" is a high water mark, even among his vast reels of
immediately striking material. Somehow, the ethereal, sultry aspects of the
vocal weave around, slide beneath, and at times rise above the ferocious
cacophony of the music, which is simultaneously a clear Dubstep Anthem and one
of the most unconventionally catchy numbers ever heard, with it's blade sharp
stabs, crawling bassline, and sparse-to-frenetic kickdrums. As the only way to
contain the bassline fully within 12" vinyl grooves was to master the
recording mid heavy, the sleeve carries a printed EQ adjustment guide, which
defines the sound and saves it from being buried in the muck of it's own
beautiful chaos. Presented as a one-sided twelve inch, as there is no suitable
B side for it in the known universe, this ultra-limited pressing comes in a
hand-stamped brown paper sleeve, a bit like some other label that's rapidly
forging a reputation as the finest dubstep imprint outside the UK.

brings you the multifaceted sounds of Dubstep with their sophomore effort.
Formed in 2006 by an international group of passionate music lovers with the
goal of exposing the world to Dubstep music, Pressing Issues is a committee
managed, non-profit record label where tracks are produced, submitted and
selected for release by members of the online community at dubstepforum.com
ISSUE002 is a cross-country connection featuring San Francisco's own DJG
(Narco.Hz, Noppa Recordings) and Australia's Flippo (Formant Recordings). DJG hits
hard with techy flavors in his crowd-pleasing Bender, continuing with a
hypnotic bass and flavorful additions. Surely showing the Bay Area connection
with a hyphy-inspired vibe, this tune shakes the speakers and rocks the club in
venues worldwide. It has been in heavy rotation with the likes of Rusko and
N-Type and always fools the floor with its minimal structure but massive
bassline. This one isn't for your car stereo. On the AA side, Flippo eases into
ethereal synths and atmospheric sounds while hitting home with dubby bass
beats. His melodic structure moves the tune forward and provides a
show-stopping drop with delicate found sounds creating a strikingly musical
track. Following the break, listeners are treated to overlapping rhythms and
complimentary melodic structures, pleasing audiophiles and music fiends across
the globe.

Steps in

a buzz with their first release which featured Matty G and the producers
responsible for this record ‘OSC’. OSC is a two part dubstep conjunction
consisting of veteran dj / producers ROOMMATE & ANTI-SERUM. Two homies
fueled by their love for sub, pushing the boundaries of sound to nice up the
dance. Hailing from the sunset district of San Francisco, OSC is out to prove
themselves on an international scale and bring their original styles into the
light. ‘Rockers Delight’ is a total dubbed out, lighters in the air dubstep
anthem, heavy bass weight combined with a general happy summer vibe (the sun
must be starting to blaze in the US right now), the B side ‘Shot Like This’ is
a grittier number sure to cause mayhem in the dance. Don’t sleep on this one,

Forsaken
: Hypnotised / Fighting Spirit : Immerse : 12"
Bristol-based
Forsaken has been producing his uniquely musical mix of beats and bass for
several years now, garnering attention from across the world, the web and
blogosphere, but vinyl releases have been scarce save for a tune on Immerse
Records’ Substratum EP and a 12” for Peverelist’s imprint Punch Drunk.
Luckily, Immerse Records, celebrating its 2nd year, steps once more into the
fray to deliver an imaginative twelve from Forsaken which is joyously
unfettered by trends or orthodoxies, and full of his obvious love for music,
melody and colour. ‘Hypnotised’ takes a snippet of Tweet as its mantra and
builds a bumpy groove around it, where busy kicks and snare drums are
surrounded by snaking bass, and a subtle skank punctuates the organic blend of Rhodes and strings. Heads down,
eyes shut and let the beats run riot.
Fighting Spirit takes a more epic approach, blending eastern zithers with a
wild selection of ethnic percussion that takes a cue from London’s emerging Funky scene.
Mixed with thunderous bass and soothing pads, Forsaken carefully balances the
mood to create a sure-fire future classic.

After a

thumping double A-side release featuring two remixes of tracks from their
award-winning debut album, 'Lost Files'.First up, Vacation Records head honcho
Bass Kleph turns in a disgusting interpretation of 'Who Are The Warriors' -
think his
incredible '12 Inch Therapy' remix with the squelch factor cranked up even
higher and added Detroit pad licks. This has been a mainstay in Dom & Mark's sets for
a while now, as well as anyone lucky enough to be in possession of a copy. On
the flip, fresh production outfit What What What (aka hottest producer on the
block Alex Metric and Fabric regular Sick Rick) set about adding weight to
their production tag by offering up a thunderous rework of 'Seeker'. Coming on
like Unkle in rolling dancefloor mode, the mix pairs sometime-Bjork
collaborator Jhelisa's soulful vocal with a grinding live bassline and
twinkling synth work, marking something of a departure from the guys' usual
sound while maintaining the impressive standards for which they're known.

: Waveshape 7 EP : Wave Shape : 12"
Welcome
to the 7th Waveshape Records release and for this one we've come up with
something a bit special. Not only is this a 4 track EP featuring some for the
freshest new artists in breaks, but the release is also pressed on lovely
yellow coloured vinyl! The first track sees Anti-Science & Model101 team up
once again to bring you this spring time, feel-good roller. In The Jungle is a
vibrant track that utilizes elements of ragga mixed with the raw energy of
breaks. It’s the perfect track for the upcoming spring / summer sessions.
Critical makes his return and masterfully shows off his diverse range of sound
by taking you in another direction with Watch Dis. Deep, rolling percussion,
pounding bass stabs, & lashings of vocal snippets take you to the
spine-tingling second break-down where the glitched-out beats build into sonic
ecstasy before the tune tears back out towards its climatic end. After the
success of Pure Beam (Waveshape003), Anti-Science & Youthful Implants
collaborate again for the third track on this EP and this time the results are
devastating! Ethereal, voccoded vocals, infectious snaking synth lines and a
bouncing bassline, All 4 You is the epitomy of peak-time, adrenalin-fueled
breaks that will demolish any dancefloor! The final track provides an alternate
mix of Ceos & Anti-Science's Good Morning You Mongrels which was released
earlier this year on Downbeat Productions. The Waveshape Mix provided here
takes the tune and melds it into another sort of beast with glitchier,
snycopated drum grooves, new blistering basslines and a break down that will
have everyone's hands in the air!

Crisp
drums, a slick cymbal ride complete with an array of high pass noises, this
intro is setting you up for something big. As you enter the breakdown there’s a
message for the brain to take in before building up into the madness of the
main body. When the drop comes in, you’re hit hard with a ravey, spooky tear-out
sound that’ll have everyone jumping. Bleepy, big and driven, this tune rolls
out large with all types of elements playing off another over a big subbass. In
the second breakdown, the message comes back in to haunt your senses before
building back up into the high energy action as the last drops rolls out
strong. Once again D-Ranged shows us how it’s done. SAND MOUTH Punchy, almost
water droplet like drums with a slew of odd bleepy sounds start this one off.
Female vocal snippets and a big whomping low-end bassline kick it all into gear
as you ride into a rugged thumpin affair. Precisely placed stabs are thrown at
you from all angles and eerie sounds creep into your ears as the track goes on.
As you enter the second breakdown, you best be warned as it all comes back in
dropping raw on your senses for yet another pounding ride into big bassline
fun. With both tunes being very steady and driven, this entire single screams
movement.
