AT001
Survival : Delta/Sleeper : Audio Tactics : 12"
Its the time you’ve all been waiting for: Survival, the man who has been doing damage throughout the scene for the last two years with his inimitable style on labels such as Quarantine, Creative Source and Dispatch, drops the bomb in the form of his own label Audio Tactics.  Bounce to the beat live drums bring the flavour on Delta. The tune builds progressively and gracefully before the synth starts to mutate and the b$start to roll, using intricate fx to decorate the background of this moody and warped minimal roller.  Sleeper soothes with uneasy atmospherics before delivering the fatal combination of growling mids, intense bass and a stripped back stepping beat. This one really stands apart from the crowd and builds and builds until you forgot where you started. Watch out - its a heavy one.  Both tracks are fine examples of dancefloor friendly serious drum and bass, paving the way for Survival to add to his already cemented reputation as one of the scene’s deep explorers.

CRSE053
Naibu : It Took A Long Time / Urban Sprawl : Creative Source : 12"
‘This tracks a bit special, One of the best tracks i've heard in a long long while’ Fabio. We couldn’t agree more, Fabio follows up the release of Lynx’s ‘Disco Dodo’ with this masterpiece of sublime soul. Hailing from the suburbs of Paris, France, Naibu started making music around 2002, inspired by the likes of Dj Shadow, Dj Krush and Amon Tobin. He’s always been keen on digging for old and obscure samples and with this 12” he has blended them to devastating effect. A major new talent in global D&B production!

The Upbeats take a new step in their journey to the top of global dance music with the release of their sophomore album on prominent label Bad Company Presents and embarking on a world tour with BC stars Vegas and Maldini. But what sets the partnership of Wellingtonians Jeremy Glenn and Dylan Jones is the unique, diverse and cutting-edge Upbeat style. Producing music together for seven years, Glenn and Jones have crafted a sound that ranges between frenetic and energetic liquid funk, intensely moody and claustrophobic drum’n’bass, and soulful indulgences of elevation. The sheer diversity and inventiveness of their sound has paid dividends, as the Upbeats have been in demand the world over for their ability to traverse the eclectic tastes of dance music’s fandom

EILP001
Evol Intent : Era Of Diversion LP : Evol Intent : 4x12"
Sounds like: Radiohead mutilating Slayer’s greatest hits through heavy sidechained beats. “The sound is larger than life and edited at the sub-atomic level, while the idea is bigger than one genre, person or ethos.” Evol Intent is proving to be a mover and shaker of the incendiary, modern “jungle” sound that is drum n bass. Touring everywhere from Atlanta to Australia has allowed Evol Intent to be among the greats to break down, recast, and revolutionize the world of drum n bass into one of the most aggressive genres of music today. Knick, Gigantor and The Enemy’s hardcore punk inspired movement is leaving an undeniable mark on both the U.S. drum n bass scene not to mention the music world at large. In just a short period of time, the trio has managed to put together an impressive discography while recording for their label, Evol Intent Recordings, as well as numerous prestigious imprints such as Renegade Hardware, Lifted, and Human. Enlisting the help of established artists such as J. Messinian, The Sounds of Animals Fighting, Cypher Linguistics, Ewun, Vicious Cycle, and Aaron Bedard of BANE, the Atlanta-based trio creates a sound for their latest LP that is clear and unmistakable. Combining defiant lyrics with forceful drum mechanics, razor sharp edits, and an element of dissonance stemming from their punk youth, “Era of Diversion” is a politically motivated LP like none other. Featuring much of the trio’s signature hardcore sound…while at the same time departing from it, the album holds endless surprises in store. Evol Intent continues to break the mold, foray into other genres, and transcend all expectations with unexpected turns and different styles.

ALLSORTS06
Mutated Forms : Detuned/Mindless : Allsorts : 12"
A new imprint from the Grid Recordings Group which caters for the deeper beats, soulful sounds and allsorts of styles.  ‘Detuned’ sits on the fine line between the light and the dark with the potential to go either way depending on when and where you’re listening. Some dreamy swirling pads and vocal echoes build the intro before a brooding emotive bassline fills in the gaps. Light piano snippets sit delicately on the top of the bass being triggered at all the right moments. Simple but effective. ‘Mindless’ sees the trio acknowledge the scenes history kicking things off with a classic old skool break and some Bukem-esque pads. It then goes a little deeper with some cheeky drum edits and snappy bass hits which keep the pace up whilst keeping never becoming too much or taking away from the tunes rolling beginnings.

CHANEL9626
Various Artists :Fist Of Fury EP : Function : 2x12"
Following the release of his awesome ’Phoenix Rising’ LP at the end of 2007, Digital kick-starts the new year with the ’Fist Of Fury’ EP.  Digital opens with ’Too Late’, a great slice of timeless drum and bass, packed with vintage beats, eerie strings and a nasty Reese bassline. For the B side, up and coming UK producer Outrage teams up with Finland’s finest Resound for the unsettling, dubby ’Cryonize’. Welsh producer Drum Cypha’s ’In Extremix’ is next, packed with potent old school sounds. For the last track, Digital teams up with French producer Lutin - already heavily featured on Pheonix Rising - and Generic from Canada for ’Phantasy’, a malevolent series of synth stabs over some deep beats.

Two of the hottest new skool producers on the scene have combined their respective forces for a 12 that we over here cant get enough of. DISTURBD013
Rawtekk : DNA V.I.P / Disarm : Disturbed : 12"
Finish copy promos. Disturbed returns with another slab of twisted bassline pressure. German wunderkind Rawtekk is back after his Seduce debut with another set of tunes that are serious business the A side holds an rework of one of rawtekk's earlier tunes called DNA, This tune is a bad ass piece of tech which been mutated into 2008 especially for disturbed. The flip is another evil piece of production work, going back into the days of Stakka & Skynet, Konflict, Usual Suspects and C4C but beefed up with huge next millennium elements this one is so future funk your grandchild's grandchild's aren't even ready for yet!

SOULR033
Alix Perez & Lynx : Allegiance EP : Soul:R : 2x12"
Finish copy promo. Two of Drum and bass’s greatest hopes come together on the consistently excellent and forward thinking Soul:r label. As you would expect quality oozes out of the speakers. all four tracks feature Perez or Lynx either in solo or collaboration form and there's not a duff note to be found across the two slabs. Title track ‘Allegiance’ and ‘Inferno’ see the duo exploring deep space and bass manipulation that kind of reminds me of Krust circa Soul In Motion but with a sparser sound and bang up to date beats, Elsewhere Lynx goes funk mode with the definite grower ‘Randy’ a track that excels with heavy funk horn stabs and cinematic strings, while Perez confirms his love of all things Hip Hop with the sublime ‘Crooklyn’ Pure Class.

W10003
Danny Wheeler ft. Blu James : 100 Times/Stargate : W10 Records : 12"
Was missed on a previous week, here now in stock! Hotly tipped producer" (DJ magazine) Danny Wheeler is back with a blissful new tune set to be another anthem. Featuring Blu James, Danny has once again found a voice that perfectly compliments his unique style of Jazz fusion drum and bass. Featuring the writer and singer of the famous words "Ain’t nothing going on but history/ But it’s alright, don’t panic", Blu has enjoyed phenomenal worldwide success on Basement Jaxx’s "Red Alert". On the flip side of this double 12" Danny Wheeler brings his magic to another soulful number. Still resonating with his characteristic fast soul sound, this track brings together a jump-up drum and bass beat and a smooth, deep bassline, with the keyboard wizardry of Kaidi Tatham (Agent K from 4 hero & Bugz In the attic fame), this is Kandi’s first venture into Drum and Bass and Danny is proud to introduce him on W10.

WA001
Outrage, Aperture & Kirsty Hawkshaw : Love Like Blood/Sunbathing : Whisper Audio : 12"
Whisper Audio was founded in 2006 after drum and bass producers Outrage and Aperture were graced with the vocal presence of siren enchantress Kirsty Hawkshaw. The collaboration was the genesis of a unique hybrid of cutting edge beats and bass, developed orchestration, and ethereal vocal arrangement...a new sound was born.  Side A graces us with a brilliant twist, providing a haunting rendition of Killing Joke’s post-punk classic "Love Like Blood". Spooked-out drums and keys lead to dirty stepper beats, which bounce off deep subs to accentuate an already dark presence presented by the vocals. The song culminates in a fury of ghastly stabs, dirty beats, and raw bass to give the listener a feeling none other than spine-tingling.  On the flip, "Sunbathing" boasts a musical flair, and provides a bit of inspiration to the single. Running breaks compliment wistful lyrics, shining through a hopeful (albeit melancholic) accompaniment. This tune truly exemplifies the potential of vocal music within the realm of drum and bass, and holds the potential to become a beacon for the emotional side of our genre.

WARM014
Angelzero / Martsman : Recess (Martsman RMX) / Bluetone : Warm Communications : 12"
Finish copy promo. Hailing from Germany, Martin Heinze has already started to make big waves in the drum & bass world with his releases on Offshore, Med School and now has Warm Communications to call home to also. His unique brand of robotic funk and bounces basslines give the scene a much needed dose of freshness and flavor! Angelzero – Recess (Martsman remix) - a “Recess” was originally released on warm011 by Angelzero. There was a special something about the original that we felt martsman could put his touches to. Utilizing the original beats, Martsman adds his touches of edits and crushing bass. More melody has been placed on top along with new effects! This is what remixes should be like and all around a great remix to a great track! System error!!! Bluetone - aa It’s been awhile since a tune has come around in the drum & bass scene that really catches people offguard and turns things upside down! There have been a lot of half-time dnb tracks come out lately, but nothing i assure like this! Martsman has come up aces with bluetone! A dark, sythetic drone opens the track up before the bleeps creep in! A half-time beat pounds through the speakers and bass to crush any system! Synthetic, glichty goodness at it’s best!

DIS002
Digital Mystikz / Silkie : Shake Out Your Demons / Cyber Dub : Disfigured Dubz : 12"
Skream’s own imprint Disfigured Dubz delivers the vibes again.,Its the old guard vs the whippersnappers here as Digital Mystiks feat Sgt Pokes share the vinyl with Anti Socials Silkie. ‘Shake Out Your Demons’ skanks out atop a percussive tribal rhythm and Poke’s vibes. HDB009
Zomby : Mu5h / Spliff Dub (Rustie Remix) : HyperDub : 12"
Instalment # 2 of Hyperdub’s rapid-fire assault on 2008 continues to mine the same rich bleep seam which kicked off with Kode9’s remixes of ‘Find My Way’ and ‘Skeng’, rolled on through Quarta 330 and marks time right now with Ikonika. This latest release bloods another pair of selectors fresh to the label; both Zomby and the on-fire Glaswegian producer Rustie have built up a dedicated following based on a string of off-key productions, with the ferric-oxide-like one hailed in a recent post on Dubstep Forum as “Autechre fighting Four Tet while grime and dubstep make bets in the background”. Their first Hyperdub outing is headlined by Zomby’s epic bleep symphony ‘Mu5h’ (yes, with a 5), a dramatic and melodic 8bit stepper, while the new retooling of ‘Spliff Dub’ – one of the scene’s biggest tracks in the last 12 months – claims equal honours on the flip. Where Zomby’s original followed on from the classic 1980s ‘Sleng Teng’ school of digital dancehall, Rustie’s glitched version scuttles along with wonky denatured percussion, jiggy groove, speaker busting bass, blaring synths and a chopped-up vocal instructing you how to “keep the evil away”.

HF019
Jazzsteppa : Jakin / Two : Hotflush  : 12"
Quite possibly Hotflush's biggest and most ground-breaking release to date, with two productions from newcomers Jazzsteppa. Formed in 2006 from Berlin, Germany, they fuse aspects of dub, glitchy electronica, jazz, dubstep and more, utilising both live and pre-produced elements in their performances. Jazzsteppa consists of four major members: Barbie on trombone and MC duties, Mathieu Pe on trumpet and effects, Katalyze! on production and noise, and Xperimentalist on drums, effects and production. Expanding on the elements presented in their taster, 'One' featured on the Hotflush Presents... 'Space and Time' LP, this 12" starts with 'Jakin', a more melodic piece, yet not lacking in deep bass, with meaty drums and solid assaults of live horns throughout. 'Two' takes it in a completely different direction, upping the BPM and the distortion, with more experimentation on drum patterns and plenty of bass, while still leaving room for a melodic finish.

Trim returns after a well earned break with Volume 3 of his Soul food series, and this time he is more controversial than ever. Having officially parted ways with Roll Deep, Soul Food 3 sees more dirty laundry than your local dry cleaners. With Trim breaking down exactly what led to his departure from the UK’s most exciting crew, previews of this CD have already caused an enormous hype on the underground even leading to an on air clash with former colleague and Roll Deep member Flow Dan.  But it’s not just hype and insults. Soul Food 3 is also a very introspective effort from Trim. As the ying to the yang of crew disses and his usual angry delivery, there are a number of tracks which see Trim changing his vocal style and teaming up with a far wider variety of producers than ever before. Utilising beats from both Radioclit and Dusk & Blackdown, as well as exciting new production talent Jerzey, Trim manages to make this volume a far more personal affair than the last two efforts.  With tracks ‘Inside Looking Out’ and ‘I Can C U’ recieving great support from a number of specialist DJ’s outside of the traditional Urban niche, this CD sees a real progression and evolution fron Trim as an artist, not just an MC without sacrificing the raw qualities which made him loved in the first place.

CHST003
Distance : V / Present Day : Chestplate : 12"
Finish copy promos. Distance’s Chestplate imprint continues its mighty release run with another double dose of his very own indomitable productions. The 3rd plate from the label liberates V and Present Day from Distance’s dubplate archive; two tracks which highlight the versatility of one of Dubstep’s most distinguished producers. Fans will be appeased with the release of V, a track which has been tearing up the rave with its heavy as 100 ten tonne trucks devastation. Weighty is not the word. The track pounds and stomps, crunches and growls. It should come with a warning: this track can kill! A real contrast to its flipside, Present Day sees Distance on a different flex. The track groans with aching bass and burns slow in epic proportion. Synths linger around a piano lead like the whispers of a ghost in the dead of night, the gothic sonics unnerve the listener and send shivers down the spine. Alongside contemporaries like Benga, Skream, Pinch and Digital Mystikz, Distance has been responsible for shaping the Dubstep sound as we know it today. Chestplate intends to showcase the freshest of his own productions which have been devastating dances and flooring radio listeners over the recent months. The two tracks featured on the release have been firm favourites in his live sets and on his Rinse FM show, garnering major support from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Hatcha, Pinch, Chef and Cyrus along the way. In addition to the releases on Chestplate, Distance has also released on several essential Dubstep labels such as Tectonic, Hotflush and Ringo. Last year he released his critically lauded debut album, My Demons, on Mike Paradinas’ Planet Mu label.

HF020
Scuba : Hard Boiled / Tell Her : Hotflush : 12"
Finish copy promo. Hotflush Recordings’ twentieth release presents two tracks from Scuba’s imminent debut album, A Mutual Antipathy, which touches down on 7 April 2008. 'Hard Boiled' is a cavernous, spaced-out, minimalist excursion, chewing up and spitting out the Berlin-influenced techno-centric slant on dubstep that has established itself in recent months. 'Tell Her' touches on the classic Scuba contrast of twisted percussion and floating melodies, glacial strings and deepest sub, but with a result that seems completely detached from anything to previously emerge from dubstep’s melting pot of ideas and sounds. Enthusiastically received by Mary Anne Hobbs on Radio 1, and firmly in the boxes of Tayo, Laurent Garnier and all the usual dubstep suspects, this innovative 12” is just a taste of what promises to be one of the most forward-thinking dubstep releases of the year.

KRKN004
Natasja I Byen / RUF : Ildebrand I Byen (2000F remix) / Want Some Crack : Kraken : 12"
Finish copy promo. This special Kraken Recordings 004 12” Test Press is sent to only a handful DJs around the World – and you are one of the lucky few! KRKN004 features two distinct tunes from producers 2000F and JSL. Natasja – Ildebrand I Byen (2000F remix): The female Danish reggae/dancehall toaster and deejay Natasja was on the way to gain worldwide recognition, when she tragically was killed in a car crash in Jamaica in the summer of 2007. As the first ever non-Jamaican she had won the prestigious Irie FM Big Break Contest in 2006. Since the age of 13 Natasja had worked exclusively with Reggae and Dancehall, and performed and recorded with artists such as Sly & Robbie, Mad Professor, Elephant Man, Ninja Man and many more. Just before she sadly passed away, Natasja had recorded what was to become her first and last album in Danish. It has sold over 70.000 units, and the first single, Ildebrand i Byen has been remixed by Kraken Recordings’ very own 2000F. It has received a rave response in Denmark, and now Kraken Recordings proudly presents the remix on vinyl. R.I.P Natasja 1974-2007. RUF – Want Some Crack?: “Hey! What’s up, guys? You want some crack?” is the hilarious catch phrase of KrakenRecording’s latest RUF (a.k.a. DJ JSL) release. This is a sure-shot dancefloor filler withextremely heavy wobble basslines, wicked Reggae-samples, and a surprising Soca-inspired carnival breakdown. Whistles and horns crew! Want Some Crack has been rinsed heavily on the UK radio stations, as RUF continues to put Copenhagen, Denmark on the map with his signature basslines and beats.

Rusko : Gone 2 Far / 2 N A Q : Sub Soldiers : 12"
Finish copy promo Gone 2 Far: Another track that has been featured in many of the dubstep elite’s sets as of late is the banger that is ‘2 Far’. Bound to be one of the craziest basslines you’re likely to hear this side of the solar system, winding up and down scale and changing direction like an antisocial sat nav. And even a cameo appearance from fellow bass fiend ‘Caspa’ - this one’s mental! 2NAQ: Fresh off the back his Fabric Live mix with fellow Sub Soldier ‘Caspa’, ‘Rusko’ steps up with this sick 12”. ‘2NAQ’ has been battered and has been destroying dance floors over the last few months with its outrageous basslines and futuristic funk.

SUBWAY004
TRG / Mayhem : Horny (Reso Remix) / Horny (Reso Remix) : Subway : 12"
Finish copy promos. The lands of nether return with another big 12" this time Dubstep heavyweights Reso & Scuba have reworked 2 previous subway tunes into their own signature style..Reso, known for his metallic sound and synthetic beats has reworked TRG's Horny and damn what a tune it has become! Roaring synths, Pounding kicks and one of THE most evil disgusting arrangements you'll ever hear. The breakdown will leave hanging onto your seat, while the drop lets you plummet into nothingness into reso's sick and twisted vision of Horny.. The B side holds the reworked samurai styled split second by mayhem.. These extra heavy kicks, those melodic strings.. this can only be the work of Hotflush's champion Scuba. His brilliant vision of Split Second shows that minimal & dubstep can join forces and combine into something beautifull yet still deadly on the dancefloor. DJ Support: Reso, Scuba, TRG, Rusko, The Others, Marlow, Walsh, Pinch, 2562, Emalkay and many more!
