Alaska & Kirsty Hawkshaw : Juneau / Glaciation : Arctic Music : 12"
White Vinyl. Alaska has always been a fan of Kirsty Hawkshaw dating back to the 1996 LTJ Bukem’s Good Looking records classic ‘Close your Eyes’ by The Chameleon, so to capture the talents of Miss Hawkshaw for a full-on vocal 12” is something that we’re proud of here at Arctic Music. ‘Juneau’ enters with Alaska’s trademark ambient loop hooks laying a cold and ethereal platform for Kirsty to deliver and when the fast breakbeats kick-in everything becomes clear and you know you are listening to a timeless and beautiful piece of music in real-time. As ‘Juneau’ progresses, strings, choir pads and bleeps emerge with the vocal chorus capturing the audience with its simplicity as the breaks roll and let the vocals breath right up to an ad-lib crescendo of pure quality. Listen and enjoy! Alaska flexes his musical muscles with ‘Glaciation’ and takes you on a glacial journey through the Arctic Circle! Kirsty Hawkshaw supply’s the vocal harmony’s to beautiful perfection as the breaks glide the music alongside the deep and low sinewave bass, so sit back, relax and enjoy the sounds of ‘Glaciation’. This is one you definitely won’t hear on a DnB club sound system and we don’t even expect you to. a Alaska & Kirsty Hawkshaw - Juneau b Alaska & Kirsty Hawkshaw - Glaciation

New to some, but Furney has been quietly building a armoury of killer tracks. Classic sounding ‘Jungle Drums’, does what its says, pure rolling jungle beats with that warm wall-shaking bassline. The likes of Bukem, Doc Scott, Marcus, Big Bud and Total science have been using this track as secret weapon for months. ’Seen You Before’ finds Furney teaming up with Henree for ‘Seen You Before’ energetic but with a House edge not forgetting about the funk & groove. a Furney - Jungle Drums b Furney & Henree - Seen You Before

CLIMATE002
Safire : Shadows / Dream Carrier : Climate : 12"
As valuable to his scene as the stone he shares his name with is in general, safire steps up to supply both sides of climate recordings 2nd single. shadows is definitely for the dancefloor, but at the same time certainly aint too simple or straight forward. The nagging reece bassline builds and layers of percussion are added to the mix as time passes. The pucussion is more predominate and persuasive in the flipside which subsequently rolls almost relentlessly, and would if not for nifty drum switches throughout. A solid debut single form safire.

REVREC016
Dose & Menace : Trigger Happy : Revolution : 12"
Limited white labels promos. After the success of ‘Words of Wisdom’ on Revolution 13, New Zealander Dose returns to the label with more tech funk badness, this time joining up with native producers Menace and Cern across these two stand out tracks that have received DJ support from the likes of Ed Rush, Loxy, Concord Dawn, Klute & Vicious Circle. ‘Trigger Happy’ with Menace steps its way through the soft but eerie atmosphere before cutting you down with its distinctive metallic chainsaw synth riff and clean percussion. The tight drums on this cut have already made it a DJ’s favourite and the mid range mutations will keep the neuro and tech heads nodding for a long time.Dose and Cern’s ‘Jack Black’ on the AA uses an industrialised backdrop as the canvas for this hard hitting roller, switching up the edits and basses to create a fearsome mechanical tyrant that will sit well in any harder set. Raiden & Propaganda / Lethal & Khanage : Machine Soul  / Murkage (Panacea RMXS) : Offkey : 12"
Finish copy promo. The work of four Offkey artists condensed on to one 12”, the eagerly awaited remixes of two already massive tunes from the OK camp, The Panacea was invited to record for Offkey after Raiden heard his massive track ‘Carborundum’ (ok004) and signed it instantly. The original tracks have been major highlights in The Panacea’s sets since their inception and it was only right that the half man half machine would be asked to do Offkey recordings first batch of remixes. Raiden + Propaganda-Machinesoul- The Panacea RMX Taking the original’s bullet train aesthetic and making it all his own, tearing your heart straight out and stomping on it in front of you, Panacea adds weighty bass stabs the really do reign terror when unleashed in a club. The original blueprint for machinesoul (ok001) was to make a peak time track that had rolled like no other before it, and it did just that-with big labels hunting for it the track instantly became an anthem and now Mr mootz has added his own twisted touch .Lethal + Khanage- Murkage- The Panacea RMX. Lethal + Khanage brought us ‘Murkage’ after Raiden requested a flip to Jawbreaker (ok006) asking for a dancefloor monster he got just that-dancefloors around the world lapped up the tune with its cheeky Burty B sample and its bouncing off the walls breakdown- a stepping monster. The Panacea took the original and turned it into a truly stomping piece of android funk, a never ending loop that might cause hysteria if listened to under the influence, imagine this remix as godzilla smashing through buildings and streets alike... a Raiden & Propaganda - Machine Soul (The Panacea Remix) b - Murkage (The Panacea Remix)

PUNCHY001
Nero : Solid Air / Choices : Punchy  : 12"
Over the last couple of years NERO have been causing quite a stir in the drum and bass scene. Their acclaimed release REQUIEM EP was a huge hit among Radio1 DJs such as Zane Lowe, Jo Whiley, Pete Tong and of course Fabio and Grooverider. High Contrast included the EP track ’Bitch I’m Gone’ in his mix for the legendary ’Fabric Live’ CD series. NERO’s latest release to date, ENERGY is still destroying dancefloors across the world and featured in Andy C’s mix for the cover CD of prestigious dance magazine ’Mixmag’. In 2007 NERO decided they wanted to launch their own label, PUNCHY RECORDINGS. They approached the project with the view that songs on the label should not only be big dancefloor tunes, but also be easily listenable to in a home environment, and accessible to d&b and non-d&b heads alike. Future collaborations are planned with some of the most exciting up-and-coming talent and fully established artists within the scene. Expect big things... Enough with the intro. Here’s the first release on PUNCHY RECORDINGS, a double-header with SOLID AIR up first. A warm, euphoric, orchestral track led by a soulful vocal (courtesy of NERO’s resident vocalist Alana), which becomes almost hypnotic as the huge trails of delay build up a wall of sound. The clean, phat beats and rumbling bass interlock in perfect harmony with the lush string melodies whilst various organs and synths provide constant interest. CHOICES follows on from Solid Air in its warm and euphoric feel. It begins with a simple melodic staccato riff,  constantly building toward a monumental drop. A politically potent vocal and epic orchestral arrangement are pierced by a melodic lead synth and harmonic electro(like) bassline. The track draws to a close with an emotive sax solo that gradually appears from the distance before fading into the horizon accompanied by the rest of the song.

Jazzsteppa : Jakin / Two : Hotflush : 12"
Finish copy promo. Quite possibly Hotflush's biggest and most ground-breaking release to date, with 2 productions from newcomers Jazzsteppa. Formed in 06 from Berlin, Germany, they fuse aspects of dub, glitchy electronica, jazz, dubstep and more, utilising both live and pre-produced elements in their performances. Jazzsteppa consists of four major members: Barbie on trombone and MC duties, Mathieu Pe on trumpet and effects, Katalyze! on production and noise, and Xperimentalist on drums, effects and production. Expanding on the elements presented in their taster, 'One' featured on the Hotflush Presents... 'Space and Time' LP, this 12" starts with 'Jakin', a more melodic piece, yet not lacking in deep bass, with meaty drums and solid assaults of live horns throughout. IMM002
Subeena / Dot : Circular / Chemical Waste : Immigrant : 12"
Finish copy promo. Following their debut, which featured remixes from Cyrus (Tectonic) and Elemental (Hotflush) on the flip, Subeena and Dot’s second release chases dubstep further along uncharted paths. The contagious and tribal sounds of Subeena's 'Circular' and the bass-driven and edgy yet minimal-influenced 'Chemical Waste' by Dot mark out the ground the label intends to explore. Each track reaches into territories somewhere between the current sound of London-born dubstep and their own influences. Established DJs who have so far showcased the 12” include Mary Anne Hobbs (BBC Radio 1), Skream (Stella Sessions on Rinse FM), DJ Flight, and Boomnoise & SGT Pokes (Sub FM).Upcoming review on the next Issue of IDJ by Dj Thinking: “More wicked tunage from the Immigrant camp to follow up their superb debut, the ladies again each taking one side of a split plate. Subeena is up first, off-kilter tribalism abound as pan-Asian sounds wend between percussive beats and bulging subs. Dot favours a techier approach, as jumbled transmissions drift in and out of phase over the lively 4/4, interspersed with brittle synth lines, stabbing lasers, and a powerful watery sub line squirming away below.” 4/5 (recommended)

The club bruiser ‘Frederick’ and the lush downtempo ‘Summer Hiding’ will be featured on Diverted’s debut album due for release in Autumn 2008. •Diverted have rapidly established themselves through their live monthly residency at Ali B’s Air night, playing alongside the likes of Minuit, Bastila and The London Breakbeat Orchestra. •With each show, the band’s sound has constantly evolved through the regular addition of new musicians and vocalists. This unique experimental approach has seen Diverted’s sound compared to the likes of Goose and The Bays. •At Diverted’s core are mid-twenty year olds Stephen Baxter and Lee Richardson. Between them they have been responsible for a number of releases across labels such as TCR, Solokov Sounds and Ali B’s Air Recordings label, which has gained them huge support amongst scene leaders. Meanwhile, their own Diverted Traffic label has been responsible for helping to establish artists such as Mr No Hands, Tom Tonic and Dekoy. •Alongside guest appearances on Annie Nightingale’s Radio 1 show and Jay Cunning’s Kiss 100 show, Diverted also host their own regular slot on NSB Radio. They have also toured extensively across countries including Australia, Spain, Russia and Hungary. 2008 will see them take the whole band on the road with dates at some of the UK’s biggest festivals already confirmed.

Smithmonger : Get On Back : Payback : 12"
The Smithmonger is back in business after a mini break off the release circuit. lBut just because he hasn’t been knocking out release after release doesn’t mean he hasn’t been productive. Infact after the move back to Australia he’s been busy and very much in demand mashin’ up the dance floors leaving an inprint wherever he goes. So to business, Get On Back is a bit of a beast to say the least and it holds down all the important Smithmonger  signature trade marks! And we’re sure by now you don’t need to be told what they are. Or if you do "A DANCE FLOOR BOMBA CLOUT"!! Tough beats meet one killa static bassline that burns on through all the way to the midlfow where we are hit by the mother of all drops and the gelling point of the whole track. With huge synth sounds and "Get on Back" vocal chants wrap this one up nice! On the flip comes Don’t Ask Me, this one’s on the driving Tech side of things this bubbles and rolls. Again trade marks and blips are in full effect here. This will appeal to the house floors as well as many a Breakbeat sesh!

DJ Ransack : Sandstorm Breaks : Ransack : 12"
RANSACK RECORDS BRINGS YOU IT’S 6TH RELEASE AND THIS TIME WE ARE MASHING-UP ONE OF THE MOST RECOGNISABLE DANCE TUNES OF ALL TIME – SANDSTORM! THIS BREAKS REMIX IS A DIFFERENT TAKE ON THE TRACK USING THE MAIN RIFF AND ADDING ORIGINAL BEATS, SYNTHS, BASSLINES AND FX.  THE MIDDLE SECTION OF THE TUE BREAKS DOWN INTO A TRIPLET GROOVE WITH LIVE DRUM & PERCUSSION SAMPLES THAT BUILD UP BEFORE THE MAIN GROOVE DROPS BACK IN. THE MAIN “ACID RIFF” FROM THE ORIGINAL IS IN GOOD USE TOO. LOVE IT OR HATE IT YOU KNOW IT’S RIGHT!!

Shabby Skanks : The Dizzee Track : Shabby Shanks : 12"
PART 2 OF THE AWESOME “SHABBY SKANKS” SERIES FOLLOWS ON SEAMLESSLY WHERE VOLUME 1 “THE MISSY TRACK” LEFT OFF. VOLUME 2 IS EQUALLY AS RECOGNIZABLE WITH THE URBAN POETRY OF DIZZEE RASCAL, GLIDING EFFORTLESSLY OVER THE TOP OF SOME SERIOUSLY KICK ASS BEATS AND BASSLINES THAT HAVE TO BE HEARD TO BE BELIEVED, NOT TO MENTION THE BREAKDOWN THAT IN TEST RUNS HAS SENT THE DANCEFLOOR INTO A CRAZED FRENZY.

SUAD060
Shut Up And Dance : Shut Up And Dance Sampler 2 (Hold Tight Remixes) : Shut Up And Dance : 12"
This double sided smasher is the fifth single  to be released from the new “Shut Up & Dance” album.  New for 2008, this single contains a killer of a tune which was originally released back in 2000, as well as a bang up to date 2008 breaks mix.     Hold Tight – What can be said about this track? “Hold Tight” was one of those tunes that had people rocking on the  2 step garage / Break Beat & Nu Skool Breaks dance floors as well back in 2000. At the same time as Dj Zinc was releasing bass line roller after bass line roller on his Bingo beats label, New deal recordings had ‘The Hackney Soldiers’ producing gems like this. (New deal recordings is the sister label to Shut Up and Dance Music). This track smashed it from London to stateside & featured on many of the 2 Step/Garage - major label compilations @ the time. This was one of the biggest gems from that time period.     Hold Tight (The Hackney Soldiers – Breaks Mix) - It’s fat, & its back with a fresh 2008 remix…..given a total overhaul, & fattened up like a battery farmed chicken, this mix is aimed more for the breaks heads & for anyone who somehow managed to miss the original cut the first time around. Don’t miss out this time, some good things do come to an end.
