a treat Paradox Music has install for everyone via PM15 indeed !! Just when you
thought Seba & Krazy’s ‘High Priestess’ captured that old pinnacle DnB
sound, Paradox pulls an all-mighty trick out of the bag and locks the major
giant Univeral Music in a chinese-burn grip and brainwashes them into licensing
the debut Nucleus & Paradox on Universal Music Group via PM wax!! [C’mon.. as if we would let them get
away with a cd-only Universal release] ‘Descendants’ has everything. It’s no
wonder that the giant snapped the track up [forthcoming cd early 2008]. Layers
upon layers of reversed pads, flutes, chimes, guitar slaps and tablas capture a
real sense of nostalgia until the bass subs drops you back-forward in time.
Skippy funk breaks enter the track at the right time and when the Double-bass
enters well, its almost too perfect for words. Its not over though as the trance
vocal siren Kirsty Hawkshaw steps In and adds that archive vocal feel to make a
truly, outstanding piece of music complete. On the flip Paradox Music welcomes

success of its first release with another double A side from label boss, DJ and
producer, Distance. CHESTPLATE 002 unleashes two new monsters on the world in
the shape of Battle Sequence and Feel Me. Distance was inundated with requests
for certain tracks to be released on CHESTPLATE 002 and it is impossible that
Feel Me and Battle Sequence will disappoint. The release is an essential
addition to the boxes of any discerning Dubstep fan or DJ. Alongside
contemporaries like Benga, Skream, Pinch and Digital Mystikz, Distance has been
responsible for shaping the Dubstep sound as we know it today. With Chestplate
he intends to showcase the freshest of his own productions which have been
devastating dances and flooring radio listeners over the recent months. The two
tracks featured on the release have been firm favourites in his live sets and on
his Rinse FM show, garnering major support from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs,
Hatcha, Pinch, Chef and Cyrus along the way. Battle Sequence sees Distance
exercising his darker side. It is a metallic stomper with lethally programmed
precision percussion, full of low end gnarl and stray feedback squeals. On the
flip, Feel Me reflects Distance’s lighter side. With a suggestive female vocal
sample and motorik drum patterns, the track skips along amidst ring modulated
synths and subtle low slung, pulsating bass. CHESTPLATE 002 undoubtedly features
two of Distance’s best tracks to date.
