And a growing reputation in electro-breaks

A: Supernova - Spor : rich pads and vocoder lyrics set the scene , before the
drum roll and wheeling rise turns things into a
tearing
onslaught of growls, sub drops and sharp drum work. Spor demonstrates technical
ability while nodding a head to his older

Cryptonomicon EP - The Panacea Position Chrome 12" x 2
A:
Connect The Dots’ This time heading straight for the blood vein in your neck the
pair re-ivent their tech’d preferences, ‘Connect’ is
the
typical PC style and has really got dancefloors hot under the collar. The vocal
screams in triumph, bringing in the punk element to
proceedings.
Being the angry older brother of ‘Skafandr’ by Raiden & Proket, the rhythm
of this one is devastating as if you were
banging
your chest with a hammer! B: Raiden & The Panacea - ‘La Shit’ Raiden and The
Panacea collaborate and end up with the
child
of pink techno.. no suprises there then! Drums that feel like one long and at
humping bass combine to murder the listener, all
before
the acid lines even come into play! Blood step for the masses. C:
‘Cryptonomicon’ A total anthem across dancefloors thanks
to
Offkey, Freak and Pos. Chrome Crews, you will recognise this as soon as the into
hits... 4/4 kickdrums and stabs are the order of
the
day before you are enveloped in a almighty bass/snare combo, a snapshot of The
Panacea’s live shows and brutal intent. D: The
Panacea
‘Word Of Thoth’ No Rules no Regulations, the very short into holds no prisoners
as the drums march militantly all over the
conquered
lands. A disabling vocal knocks you off guard as you try not to be swallowed up
by the wall of sound that is so evident in
the
output of position chrome. The Panacea outroduces the EP in savage
style..

Edition 1000 Copies. The second 12 to be taken from there Northern Soul LP &
Following on from were they left off Craggz &
Parallel
Forces return with another tuff soulful D&B classic in the form of
'SandDancer'. Hands-in-the-air Vocal Choir (supplied by
CPF
once again) sub-rumbling bass and a euphoric string breakdown have made this a
firm favourite with the likes of Marky, Flight,
Bryan
G, Total Science to name but a few. The flip sees CPF stepping into valve
territory with ‘Strike’ a track remnant of Dillinja’s
Cybertron
days and a direct nod to the man himself. Combining moody jazz chords with razor
sharp production, rip roaring bass and
choppy
leftfield drum edits, this cut shows an entirely new side to the trio and has
seen support form Dillinja, Lemon D, TC, DJ Die
etc.

Elle - dgoHn Subtle Audio 12" Vinyl
dgoHn
(say ‘John’) – the man with the most challenging name in Drum & Bass makes
some of the most challenging beats too. “Elle”
starts
off serenely enough but suddenly builds into a crescendo of crashing beats,
reverberating bass and chiming ……
chimes ! With
some
guest vocals from his unsuspecting sister this is a masterclass in balancing the
rough with the smooth. Mary Anne Hobbs
certainly
thinks so and has played it on her BBC1 show and Chris Inperspective calls it
“disgusting” …
see what you think. The aptly
titled
“Rhythmic Movement Disorder” breathes some fresh life into the ‘Funky Mule’
break and marries it to a whole host of bleeps
and
oddness. Time to get twitchy on the dancefloor ! The rolling brushes and a
pulsing bass of “Man Bith” are made for a head
nodding
finale but every so often you’re jerked out of your comfort zone by reversing
rhythms or a complete tempo shift, so stay alert.

The Green Man TGM RMX - Shut Up & Dance Basswerk 12"
Vinyl
Basswerk
28 Vinyl EP makes a link between history and today. It tries to help remembering
two essential things that made Jungle
music
grow: a smile in the face and sound adventures. When Shut Up & Dance came up
with their album „Death
Is NotThe End“, this
has
been a big inspiration for Cologne’s DJ’s Heiner & Laszlo to get into
Breakbeat and later into Jungle & Drum & Bass music. Even
so
much that Heiner chose his DJ name after the SUAD track „The
Green Man“ featured on that album (while Laszlo became DJ Cheetah, together they
were Junglegrowers). Being involved into various remixes in 2007, Green Man had
the spontaneous idea to do
a
Drum & Bass Remix of “TheGreen Man” , trying to keep it’s original
simplicity and vibe . Things worked out easy and the crowds all
loved
it as it is straight forward but funky and with some heavy extra Bassand
cheerful like the original. So we decided to send it to PJ
Smiley
from SUAD and we are now proud to present this remix on Basswerk 28 !! Massive
respect and thanks to Shut Up & Dance !
Shut
Up & Dance is also coming up with a new album called „The
Great British Public“ in September while the second Green Man
album
is also expected later this year. “Bassball” is a deep, musical Jungle track
combining future sounds, jazzy harmonies & and
oldschool
styles, It is a sound adventure and a great intro track. It is about seeing
D&B tunes as different types of dancefloor art
rather
than a dancefloor competition.
