First of, if you haven’t been in recently – get in here.  Many goodies in stock that we need to move out of here – and don’t forget that we have a WHOLE BIN of white labels that are 25% off (indicated by the fact that the don’t have yellow price tags).

Second of all, you need something off the list please respond, we are going to be concentrating on full releases for a bit and might not have spare copies of whites if you don’t request in advance.

Everything new in stock is listed on the bottom of this list.

This is the dnb preliminary list for Saturday August 4.  Some really nice ST HOLDINGS PROMOS!   Requests from this list are due back SUNDAY JULY 29 by Noon.  If you miss the deadline, we can always try, but this definitely makes it easier and more secure. Email your requests to doug at poo-bas.com and it is always good to email, even if you already discussed it with Brent or Rob.

ST Holdings & Nu-Urban sound samples are at the bottom.  Promos are highlighted in yellow.

SRD potential releases are never exactly what will be released worldwide – so we haven’t been listing them.  If you really want to know then stop up on Saturday after 2pm and I'll have a more accurate list available (sans their always limited promos).

The preliminary list is not a discounted list, due to the nature of limited promo distribution.  We do send out a weekly order list for all genres that IS discounted.  You are always welcome to order from it per the guidelines listed, the downside is that you don’t always get everything.  That list is available at http://www.poo-bas.com/pre-order/08-01-07.htm

The current list of titles in stock is at http://www.poo-bas.com/releases/main.htm (scroll down to the dnb section)

As a reminder, this order list is posted weekly at http://www.poo-bas.com/pre-order if you didn't get an email.

See you Saturday!

Thanks,

Doug

ST HOLDINGS New D 'n' B Releases

OKLTD001 Off Key Ltd - Temper D & K Fire / Proket Offkey 12" Vinyl

We are proud to Introduce Offkey’s new outlet for tunes that really are about popular demand, we are releasing the music that we are regularly asked about across the web, in the clubs and even after the clubs on the way to the car! TEMPER D & K FIRE - TABLEDEATH VIP. One of the original tunes slated for Offkey, Tabledeath was much requested as a release with the offkeymp3.com crew calling for it constantly. Tabledeath (You’ll hear why it’s called that!) has been played out by Klute, Logistics and Nu:Tone amongst others, and of course by the Offkey KGB. Table death uses the Offkey trademark of being competely DJ friendly, allowing the player to get creative in the mix....as Techno elements spiral out of control the morphing sub gets the whole thing together, is that the sound of a table being smashed?! Finally getting a release to the joy of many ravers and DJ’s alike. PROKET - PROPORTION (LETHAL & KHANAGE REMIX) The lost Offkey classic was given an overhaul and updated by Lethal & Khanage at their own request.  Having played the original in most of their DJ sets the pair wanted to keep the proportion legacy going by remixing it. Supported by all the Offkey crew since its’ creation Proportion Remix was given the deal of approval instantly by its’ creator Proket who said “F**king Sick! Really wicked remix, so glad its’ getting a release.” Support has come outside of the crew from a diverse selection including EBK, Submerged and Perpetuum. The definition of dance-floor arsenal the remix allows the DJ to blend over the drop and beyond as the technoid bass stomps all over you until those infamous bleeps go for the jugular. Also forthcoming on Offkey LTD:  OKLTD002 - PROPAGANDA - STALKER / TBC OKLTD003 - PANACEA REMIXES!

OBSE008 Exit Row - BSE / JPS & Hooves Obsessions 12" Vinyl

Beginning in a melodic, almost upbeat manner, the bassline soon takes centre stage to make this mood a short lived one. Beyond the drop you have a hefty serve of chunky rolling funk, BSE ‘07 style that research has proven all but irresistible. Great Result! Solemn, spiritual and peaceful at the outset, the traditional percussion found from the start of this piece is both a welcome change of pace and departure from the norm. Just over minute in a reece rises from the mists of the past to power this debut production from Oz duo JPS & Hooves into the present day. Deep, different and definitely worth wrapping your ears around. DJ support : Pendulum, Ed Rush, BSE, Klute, Noisia, State of Mind, Chris.SU & SKC, amongst others

DARKESTRAL001 Comanche - Instra:mental Darkestral Recordings 12" Vinyl

The first release on the mothership Darkestral Recordings sets the blueprint for our vision of drum & bass; spacious, artistic, flexible, psychological, emotional, filmic and strictly 170bpm. Produced by the craftsmen that are Instra:mental, with attention to fine detail, and mastered by Stuart Hawkes @ Metropolis, what you recieve on vinyl is the culmination of patience and deliberance in acheiving the best possible result for your listening pleasure. Starting life as a track that got instant rewind status from Doc Scott on it's first airing, `Comanche' proved to be as impactful as it was different, a host of other dj's/producers all leapt onto the vibe and then supported the track themselves; A.I., D Bridge, Commix, Invaderz, Flight, Bailey, Goldie, DJ Hype, Fabio, Klute and Marcus Intalex among others.`Comanche' is a remarkable tune built on a serious bongo rhythm, with a fierce ectoplasmic bass injection, all sorts of subtle effects panning in the mix anda roll that's drawn comparisons to a Photekian place; intricate, interesting and impactful. `The Chamber' meanwhile is a journey into the cinematic, murky depths of the Darkestral psyche. Specifically built to convey the claustrophobic nature and pressurised feeling of being rooted to the bottom of the ocean in a leaking, creaking submarine, the dripping water and ominous bass presence that sounds like its swimming in the near distance lands you straight into this filmic scene.  Huge pressurised subbass and metallic drums caught Goldies imagination as its debut airing came at Fabric toe days after it's completion, Doc Scott, Grooverider, Breakage, Bailey, Storm, London Elektricity, Commix, D Bridge have all been supporting. `The Chamber' introduces the label boss Drkstr's vision, with engineering from Instra:mental drawing on their previous history as artists on the Source Direct label `Demonic'). Both tracks feature on the current Digital Soundboy Podcast (Breakage & SP), and have featured on Marcus Intalex and Klute radio mixes, plus Radio 1 plays from Fabio & Grooverider, Kiss FM plays from DJ hype and Flight and Bailey on 1Xtra. The Chamber' has just been licensed to a new Resist compilation `Worlds Heaviest Drum & Bass' (due out on 27/8/07)Finished release will be available as limited 500 only silver/grey vinyl, plus a black vinyl edition both editions come in sleeve with silver foil block logos and text.

CRUNCH008 Lost Souls - Verse & SP Crunch Recordings 12" Vinyl

Verse’s & SP’s trademark sound added for good measure – faultless production, heavy grooves and killer edits morph together to make a tune that is guaranteed to tear down any rave, in Verse’s own words – ‘…One for the Soldiers…’. the A is menacing, but enjoyable slam dunk beat attack with neuro flangings and dreamy atmospherics. Prolific's offering on the flip finds resonant reeseesque LFO squirls and stepping beats. Crunch comes correct: Both sides of this quality 12 have been supported for months by a cross-section of the scene’s finest DJs including: Fabio, Goldie, Pendulum, Friction and D Bridge to name a few.

RL013 Derailed - Dose Red Light Recordings 12" Vinyl

‘Derailed’ This debut release on Redlight from New Zealand Producer “Dose” certainly hits the spot. “Derailed” delivers a bassline both gritty and raw, while the rest of the track is slick, twisted and tripped out. Many samples come and go, and their shapes shift throughout to ensure freshness. ‘Stone Cold’ On the flipside, “Stone Cold” ain’t as frigid as you might think, but is instead effervescent and persuasively percussive with a gnarly synthetic bassline that locks the groove and helps it roll right to the end.

Forceful yet still friendly.

HZN022 Time Starts Now - Seba & Paradox Horizons Music 12" Vinyl

Full Artwork Promos. Seba and Paradox have championed the Breakbeat side of Drum and Bass for some time now on their own Secret Operations and Paradox Music imprints whilst gracing other stables such as Hospital and Metalheadz with their knowledge, and now the time has come to drop their long-awaited 12” on Horizons Music. The beautiful art sleeve reflects their timeless music and ‘Time Starts Now’ REALLY stands to attention, firing a bold statement that only Seba and Paradox can conjure up in the recording studio for the people to play for years to come. From the very first few seconds of ‘Time Starts Now’ you hear the eeiry vibe of this mystical number. Vocal-like drones over funk breaks puzzle people to the point you can see them frowning wondering if the earth is coming to an end. Carefully chosen atmospherics and samples fly in pure esoteric style in the intro, and the low bass kicks in like storm flashes whilst your awaiting the thunder to appear. Vocal film, sax samples and breaks switch the atmosphere like Source Direct never died. Indeed people. Time Starts Now! On the flip Seba and Paradox flex their musical abilities in the remix of Duo Infernal’s ‘Playing Games’. Seba and Paradox take the core elements of the original mix and really transform the track utilizing harp and piano parts into a breathtaking score. The breaks ‘swing’ to give it that ultra-important funk element in Drum and Bass, and the deep bass tones alongside keys and pads accompany the musical melody to perfection. Both tracks are already scheduled for licensing work before the 12” is officially released due to its popularity. DJ support is coming from the turntables of Randall, Marcus Intalex, John B, LTJ Bukem, Alley Cat, Fabio, L Double, Goldie, Flight, Bailey and many, many others.

TILT007 Pitch The Nature (Amex + Kaiza RMX) - Johannes Ahlberg Tilt 12" Vinyl

Tilt-Recordings strikes with two killers on a double A-side release, delivering quality and innovation that will set dancefloors on fire.  TILT007 contains two remixes (by three, respectively five artists), one of them being the label's second tune by an external artist. DJ support has come by artists such as Ed Rush + Optical, Optiv, Black Sun Empire, State Of Mind, EBK, Pyro, Raiden and Teh Panacea. Johannes Ahlberg - "Pitch The Nature" (Amex + Kaiza RMX) Johannes Ahlberg is a swedish Techno producer and DJ who has recently launched his own vinyl label "Stupid Recordings". Also, he has released two Techno remixes of Amex + Kaiza's "Shrinz" on the netlabel T-FREE. Now, their remix of his "Pitch The Nature" is a proper cross genre collaboration. Originally a Techno tune, Amex + Kaiza transformed it into Drum & Bass, yet it is still more Schranz than Jungle: uncompromisingly hard and percussive, innovative and bouncing Techno-DNB. Amex + Kaiza - "Shrinz" (Quadrant RMX) Quadrant aka Texel and Cyanide (ex co-members:  DJ Charly, Mike Advance)need no introduction - they should be well known from their releases on the "Renegade Hardware" imprint of the infamous TOV Music Group company and on the highly respected Dutch Triple Vision inhouse label "Citrus". Quadrant's remix of Amex + Kaiza's "Shrinz" is a high quality DJ tool: Solid beat and percussion, juicy midranges, powerful bassline, deep atmo a Neurofunk bomb, heavy and technoid but deeply musical at the same time.

ST HOLDINGS New Dubstep Releases

BRK005DUB Zalim Maar Daala - Geiom Feat: Khalid Berkane Sol 12" Vinyl

Berkane Sol label returns with a unique 12” created by Nottingham-based producer Geiom.  An on-going collaboration between Geiom and Pakistani vocalist Khalid has now produced a bunch of classic hybrid songs, of which this is the first on release. A shared love of classic era Indian film soundtracks from the 60’s and 70’s has led to this project – anyone who enjoys the music of legends like Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle or Mohammed Rahfi will understand this record straight away.  Epic vocals float over the top of dubstep style drum patterns spiced with some hot tabla licks. Live harmonium parts and flute lines meet with sitar fx and some heavyweight bass action to create a truly psychedelic and distinctive track that defies genre. The instro on the flip gives the listener more space to absorb the musical sections and the acapella is a quirky Dj tool – sounds big mixed over grime instrumentals in particular. There have been several asian-influenced dubstep tunes made over the past year, but this is the real thing – no samples were harmed during the making of this record! This song has already had a full month of Radio 1 airplay courtesy of the Bobby Friction and Nihal show and support from Skream on his Rinse FM show. The Skull Disco team of Shackleton and Appleblim are big fans of this tune and also Mixmag who have reviewed it for the next issue.

BOKA013 Mecha - Emalkay Boka Records 12" Vinyl

Full artwork Promo.BOK013 sees the return of Emalkay. This EP features two tracks from Birmingham’s biggest producer. First up is ‘Mecha’ – a tune which has been battered at the raves all over the world to devastating effect. The track has a cold eerie build up but then drops into a devastating mechanical bassline. Even though we are only mid way through 2007 this tune is already being seen as one the biggest tracks of the year to come out of the dubstep scene. On the flip is ‘The Rogue’ – a track which makes you shuffle from start to finish with its skipping beats and body punching bassline. Known in the Boka camp as the Wayne Rooney of electronic music, Emalkays tracks are being supported by the likes of Mary Anne-Hobbs, Rob Da Bank, Plastician, Freq Nasty and many more.  With some big collaborations in the pipeline and a debut album due out in Autumn 2007 – the morphic man is a name to look out for.

DIS001 Sandsnake - Skream & Cluekid Disfigured Dubz 12" Vinyl

Full Artwork Copies. Skream launches his own imprint Disfigured Dubz. As Altern 8 said Watch your bass bins I'm telling ya" .  Arguably the biggest name in Dubstep and probably the most prolific producer too, Skream provides a more personal outlet for his creative genius on his own label. Moving Snares hurtle along at breakneck speed while techno textures, buzz saw effects and a driving insistent synthesised melody demonstrate why dubstep is the most intense, exciting music around at the moment. On ‘Sandsnake’ Skream teams up with Cluekid, better know for his Collabs with Cotti. A consistent fixture on his Rinse FM show, the track has a cheeky flute-esque melody with tough riffle shot snares that lead into a dutty bass grind that refuses to be pinned to one motif. Miss it at your peril.

DMZ012 Lean Forward / Learn - Mala DMZ 12" Vinyl

Full artwork Promos.Once again teasing out a frenzied level of anticipation from their ever-growing, dedicated fanbase, DMZ at long last unleash the mighty DMZ012 onto the world and in doing so have provided us with Mala's sickest transmissions to date : "Lean Forward" and "Learn". The production is the first thing that hits you about "Lean Forward" - each register is given so much space to breath that the track is both one of the most crisp and one if the deepest you'll have heard in dubstep - pulling off that rarest of tricks with a colossal BASSline that somehow manages not to distort. Flip over for ‘Learn’ You’ll know it if you’ve heard it! Its the tune with some guy shouting "WHY HAVEN’T YOU LEARNED ANYTHING?!!!"a skanking low-end monster that entwines itself with some blue notes and random oscillations - late night styles. 36THCH 001 : DJ VAPOUR : MR MINGUS / MAKE EM BLEED (ORIGINAL / MIKEY DEVIANT REMIX) : 36THCH 001

The 36th Chamber Recordings is the brain child of DJ Vapour and the Shaolin Drunken Monk who have been promoting nights under the 36th Chamber moniker for several years already. DJ Vapour needs no introduction as he’s one to watch at the moment with forthcoming tracks on 31 Records, Metalheadz, Rufige, CIA Deepcut, SGN:LTD, Dread, Function and Eastside as well as a whole heap of remixes doing the rounds. ‘Mr Mingus’ fires off the first release with a heavy hitting dnb Jazz crossover. These beats have been causing chaos in the scene with several high profile labels missing out on signing the track, and we’re chuffed to have secured it for the debut outing onto vinyl for the 36th chamber. ‘Make ‘Em Bleed’ takes you back to some classic DJ Vapour roughness, starting with a filtered and chopped apache break and a subtle string loop the tune soons develops into a reece driven monster. Finally to finish off the 12” we’ve enlisted the talents of fast rising breaks producer Mikey Deviant for the ‘Make Em Break’ remix of ‘Make ‘Em Bleed’. This is what DJ Hype had to say about it "A Fat Slice of DnB Jazz from one of the new big hitters for 2007"

CALYPSO 005 : THE FORCE / MALFOY : WHAT HAPPENS HERE (CONNECTA RMX) / SLYTHERIN SOUNDCLASH : CALYPSO

Calypso Muzak is back with its fifth instalment. To celebrate this bench mark it’s remix time and we have enlisted our friend Connecta (Formation, XS Records) from Manheim Germany to go in on The Force’s What Happens Here? On the flip we have Malfoy’s Slytherin Soundclash. Connecta has been making waves on the scene since his first release on World Of Drum and Bass with the massive Botox and followed that standard with Run Da Track, Parties Over and releases on XS and Advisory Records. His simple but effective style has more than done justice to the original and has been smashing up dance floors worldwide! After the success of Bear Hunter on Calypso last year Malfoy has hit the spot yet again with another rolling master class. Ultra tight production with a grimey bassline that goes straight for the jugular. He definitely has his own unique sound and that’s what we love! Both tracks have been on heavy rotation and played by the likes of Ruffstuff, Bassline Smith, Die, Sappo, Crissy Criss, DJ SS, Nicky Blackmarket, DJ Kane, Heist, Majistrate, Nicol, Lomax, Connecta + Benny and Aries.

More action from the Jungle number 1 Congo Natty. “Emperor Sellassie I” is another under pressed classic, instantly recognisable, the lyrics, courtesy of the irrepressible Bounty Hunter, ring true in many ears and have become folklore. On the flip side “Ghetto Living”, an underground classic that will get all the Congo hunters scribbling in their notebooks. Two cuts of Rebel MC magic to add even more to a catalogue that can only be classed as the best in jungle. Available now as part of the full artwork Congo Natty Series.

FYS 001 : KUBIKS & LOMAX : 12 TONE / CONTACT : FUNKYOU AND SOUL

Kubiks and Lomax are the perfect producers for the first release off the innovative upstart label Funk You Andsoul. Their music perfectly represents the kind of liquid grime that characterizes the sound of our label. 12 Tone starts off airy and atmospheric but quickly develops into a bouncing dance floor heater with a prominent and sometimes gritty bassline. The tasteful vocal sampling and lush synth pads keep this track centered around its liquid roots. Contact is characterized by a sense of space interwoven with perfectly blended saxophone pads and a bouncy lead synth, all underscored with a deep bassline. The kind of track that takes you somewhere, introducing you to senses you never knew existed. These two tracks have worked their way into the crates of many of the scenes top DJ’s and Producers, namely: LTJ Bukem, Fabio, Bcee, Insiders, Sabre, Davide Carbone, 1 Xtra Crew, Kleer, Danny Byrd and Mathematics.

GENX 001 : NIGHTBREED : ALIVE / SOME MEN : GENERATION X

Bringing forth dynamic, dancefloor Drum & Bass, Generation X Recordings is the brainchild of London based producers Malachai and Angle, better known as Nightbreed.  This fresh new label will provide an outlet for the boys’ pioneering sound within all facets of D&B. Setting out to rail against their stereotypical Metal ‘n’ Bass sound made famous by tracks such as ‘Pack of Wolves’ on Ram Records, Nightbreed offer up two diverse cuts on the first of many high level 12”s on Generation X. An out and out dancefloor roller, ‘It’s Alive’ has been garnering support from a wide range of the D&B scene’s top dogs and has stretched its wings outside of the D&B fraternity, being picked up by XFM’s Eddy Temple-Morris and Coca Cola Music! Big and bashy drums, a pounding bass and freaky atmospherics blend together to make a straight up electronic monster that drives on and on. Flipping the script once again, Nightbreed step up the pressure with ‘Some Men’. Droning waves of sound wash over razor sharp breakbeats and scary echoed vocal samples, creating another rolling, dancefloor friendly piece of Drum & Bass music.

JF 009 : SCI PHI : MASHTON / GIRL : JERONA FRUITS

JF009 sees up & coming Southampton based artist Sci-Phi’s Second release on with the Jerona crew. Back in 2005, Jerona Dubs 001 produced Sci-Phi’s debut release: “Stitch up”, which proved to be a great start to his musical career. It received wide dj support across the scene and can still be found in DJ’s boxes today. After recently releasing music with Nookie’s Strictly digital and Rubiks records, he now comes with Mash ton and Girl for his first double sided 12” on Jerona Fruits. “Mash Ton” is a club smasher. It bridges the gap between musical drum and bass and dancefloor badness perfectly, starting out with sax, organs, keys and sweet male vocals then out of no-where it drops with a huge floor shaking bassline that will eat through your chest like a pneumatic drill. “Girl” is a beautiful piece of music that will also hold it’s own on any dancefloor. The Vocal samples in this are outstanding and memorable. As are the perfectly harmonised stabs and keys that are intertwined with a deep bassline and Sci-Phi’s trademark ripping synths. Look out for many more Sci-Phi tracks forthcoming on Jerona Fruits and other great labels in the near future.
