JUSTICE
PHANTOM II *SOULWAX/BOYS NOIZE (ED BAN)
12 - 108136
Just when you thought it couldn't get
any bigger than the original, Justice's banger 'Phantom' receives some monster
remixes courtesy of Boys Noize and Soulwax. The original was a pressing of 2000
which sold out in ONE DAY. This second offering will likely do the same.
Soulwax's mix features their trademark style, a meticulous sonic exploration
plus some extra sensory abuse thrown in for good measure to the head swirling
disco violins. Boys Noize's mix is bound to blow some speakers as well with
abrasive and quite funky beats, bleepy synth action and the raucous melody of
the phantom used perfectly. A huge tune for Sebastian, Oizo and the rest of the

mixed with Tiefschwarz and a touch of Isolee / Lo Soul action thrown in for
good measure. A dub of this follows. Pantha Du Prince's mix is an epic,
melancholic mix reminiscent of Herbert / Doctor Rockit material. The beautiful

ELECTRIC RESCUE
TEST FOR TEEN (ELECTROCHOC) 12 -
108023
Two very cool cuts that take influence
from techno, minimal, electro and old rave gear. The title cut 'Test For Teens'
is already a firm favorite of the Hacker and Oxia and starts off with a rugged,
and quite mental growling, growing synth riff that builds the track to a dope
drop at which point the track flips 180 degrees into a funkier edged minimal
house joint. The track contiually evolves with slick percussion, growing
sounds, synths, effects and filters. Very cool shit. On the flip, 'Disturbing'
is just that, well actually quite deep minimal and funky with hypnotic synth
grooves, moody pads and a Isolee kind of vibe.(CHOC026)HOUSE-11/28/07-FR
GLENN MORRISON
NO SUDDEN MOVES / CIRCLES (PILOT 6) 12
- 108218
Glenn Morrison strikes back quickly
after his monster 'Contact' for Deadmau5's Mau5trap imprint with two rocking
slices of Pryda styled funky electro kissed house. Both cuts here are quite
deep and funky with 'No Sudden Moves' touched by a nice dose of filtering,
bouncy synths and explosive beats. 'Circles' on the flip goes even deeper with
cascading effects, deep synth stabs and more great effects. 'Circle' in
particular has a HUGE hypnotic and crowd rocking vibe with dirty, undulating
bass and haunting sound production / pads and freaky bouncing
effects.(PILOT001)HOUSE-12/10/07-NL
COMPOST BLACK LABEL VOL 26
ALEX ATTIAS (COMPOST) 12 - 107296
Alex Attias is riding high with his
recent bomb for Planet E and here drops the next offering for Compost's
"Black Label" series. This wonderful three tracker kicks off with an
instrumental of 'Let The Rhythm Get In', with heavy percussive rhythms and deep
jacking beats. Hypnotic Ame styled melodies ride over the top giving the track
a deep electronic soulful sound. Next up Beanfield remixes 'Everchanging
Times'. Their rub is a tough funky slow broken soulful vocal mix that brings to
mind Amp Fiddler / Jimpster material. Rounding off this excellent package is a
Quarion mix of 'Finding Who We Are', a beautifully deep soulful electronic
house cut for the Ferrer / Chandler fans with a whispery vocal, deep analog
bass, deep effects and swinging minimal hypnotic beats.(COMP272)HOUSE-11/05/07-GE

wind throughout the funked out fidget grooves. The main mix has a sweet vocal
hook and more Switch styled bass, backed by that wicked deeply effected sound.

RUGBY *KADEN* (MOON HARBOUR) 12 - 108169
Funky percussive house action courtesy
of Matthias Tanzmann whose 'Rugby' sounds like it would fit nicely on the Defected /

that many people overlook but have consistently been putting out killer tunes.
Doc Martin is a big fan of the imprint and still plays many of their releases
(especially the first release from Foolish & Sly). Here we are treated to
two deep dark underground killers, the first from Tugg whose productions have
been getting some major attention and whose previous efforts include drummiing
for Faze Action, Basement Jaxx, Lady Soverign and Kano. Here Tugg
unleashes the dirty acid funk reminiscent of RZ material with a definite nod to
Trax with a more modern vibe. Felix Dickinson on the flip drops 'Smokeless
Machine', a squelchy monster of a track with bongos flying in and out the mix
and proper 303 madness.(CY006)HOUSE-10/15/07-UK

THE STOCK / WILDERNESS (BACK TO FUNDAM)
12 - 107316
Julien Jabre took a long break after
his mega smash 'Swimming Places' which eventually landed on Defected to
critical acclaim. Here Julien delivers the second offering on Solid State of
House's newly formed sublabel Back To Fundamental and shows off a bit of the
sound that has influenced his productions. 'The Stock' pays hommage to a few of
Julien's heroes, Mr Fingers and Lil Louis. It's a deeply hypnotic and warm
euphoric house trip with heavenly pad stabs, entrancing synth grooves and deep
shuffling beats. On the flip David Duriez pays tribute to his biggest
influence, Dj Pierre and drops his modern take on classic acid
house.(SSOHB2F02)HOUSE-10/22/07-FR

MUSIC FOR GIRLS (SST) 12 - 107989
Baxendale are a 3 piece group from the
UK
who make primarily synth based pop music. Lots of respect for them amongst the
Germans (Michael Mayer, Superpitcher, etc). With this one, its a high energy
romp for the most part, until you hit the Ada remix. A deep and smoky tech house cut primed and
ready for the late hours. Next up is the Salz remix, which is a tech house cut
in the tradtional sense of the word. Nice stuff for fans of more commercial
things, as well as the underground. If youve been grabbing the Traci Thorn

well.(SST015)HOUSE-11/19/07-GE

Compost's 'Black Label' continues to
find some of the funkiest cuts out there and here unleashes four such tunes
from Jay Shepheard. This is Jay's second outing on the 'Black Label' series and
aptly displays his production prowess delivering four diverse tracks ranging

of bangin beats and old school synth action. 'Bring It Back' follows in the
same vein as Marlon D's 'Jesus Created Sound', big and simple but awesomely
effective beats and synths that tear it up in the club every time. 'Yeyo's

DJ Lab returns to Echocord for another
outing of dubby tech house with a hint of dub reggae thrown in. Which is
probably why he enlisted Deadbeat for a remix! Truly a refreshing take on this
sound. Lots of busy high end with a severely broken and dubbed out beat.
Respectable for those who might not even be into this sort of thing. And on the

Level of Detail bring us quite the
dose of sickness on this one. First off, Agaric shows us just how dirty sick he
can be with uber dark beats, deeeep bass, and all the clicks and FX that we
love outta this guy. Has a slight feel to the track he put out with Big Bully
on his own We Are imprint a few months ago. After his remix comes Monoders. A
subtle yet effective trip into deep and slighty synthy land. Soft pads and
direct percussion sum this one up. Then, an original from LOD. This is another
deep one on the mysterious side. Nervous strings and shifty percussion. VERY
mental. Finally, Franco Cinelli steps up and brings his A-game with a deep and
dark minimal tech cut.(SNN050A)HOUSE-12/10/07-GE

drops the next chapter in what we hope is a long string of releases. The 'Ravin

beats, off the wall synth action, trippy vocal bits and immense dancefloor
pressure. It builds into a frenzy during the drop and kicks back in like a mule
kick. Both other mixes on this plate have that extra large fidgety sound that

BELZEBU TALES (ESKIMO) 12 - 107863
Eskimo have possibly found their next
Lindstrom here with Simone Fedi. With a healthy dose if live instruments
alongside vintage analog synthesizers, Simone has managed to create some epic
bearded disco with a heavy guitar edge on 'Belzebu Tales'. A must for any fan
of Brennan Green. 'Judas' delves further into the Italo side of the spectrum
and also features some heavy duty guitar work that both Tiga and Lindstrom have
gone gaga for. Rounding off this amazing debut is '2M 6Ft' another superb
future disco gem that relies heavily on live and vintage gear for production
and also features some great disco percussion.(501974)BEARDED DISCO-11/19/07-NL

DOMINIK EULBERG
BIONIK *LP* (COCOON) LP - 107951
Mr Dominik Eulberg is maybe one of the
oddest characters in house & techno nowadays, but also one of the nicest and
most down to earth producers you'll meet. He has the special skill that many
lack of combining sound and art research with solid and straight forward funky
productions. 7 intense productions appear on this wicked LP, tracks that will
move house floors, techno rooms and even trance crowds. Beautiful, funky,
stunning, soulful and downright cool shit from this smooth
character.(COR015-3)HOUSE-11/19/07-GE

NAIVE NEW BEATERS
LIVE GOOD *IN FLAGRANTI* (NIAVE NEW BEA)
12 - 108018
Naive New Beaters, France's indie
funksters return with 'Live Good', a cut that fits nicely into the recent spat
of indi / dance crossover material. The real treat on this 12" though is
In Flagranti's remix, a twisted futuristic disco take on the cut. Slow, sexy
and fuelled with trippy-ness this mix has been getting much love from the likes
of Pilooski, Lindstrom and Emperor Machine.(NNBS03)DISCO-11/26/07-FR
INK & NEEDLE
SEVEN / EIGHT (TATTOO) 12 - 108077
This is one of those tracks that we
hope doesn't get lost in the sauce, well at least it wont for us. When you have
a no name artist and a no name label lots of times people won't even give the
record a listen. Well we did and it's hot, deep, epic rocking funky techy,
electro-ey floor rocking shit that we'd sell a ton of if someone like
Minilogue's name was on.(TATTOO004)HOUSE-11/26/07-GE
JACEK SIENKIEWICZ
LIVING IN OBLIVION (SMALLVILLE) 12 -
108101
Jacek Sienkiewicz gets alot of praise
from his peers and for relases like this, we can see why. Truly some different
feeling stuff here. Deep with still some extra percussive elements, coupled
with some excellent sounds to create even more tension. The flip is more
stipped down with warm pads. Quite a sick release!(SMALL05)TECH

BODYCODE
DOCUMENT OF AN AFRICAN PAST (YORE) 12
- 108105
Andy Vaz's Yore label has been kicking
ass and taking names with every single release! This one from Bodycode (aka
Portable) is rigth up there with them. Deeep grooves and organic as well as
electronic sounds, and TONS of bass! On the flip, things go back to the
old-school Bodycode nervousness and old house samples. Party music with forward
thinking thrown in.(YRE006)HOUSE-11/26/07-GE
FROM KARAOKE TO STARDOM

expect.(RRYG14LP)TECH HOUSE-11/26/07-GE
ASEM SHAMA
SHARADE PT 2 (SPORTCLUB) 12 - 108107
Asem Shama hits us with part 2 of his
Sharade EP. The lead cut is a rubberband bassline cut with all the tweaky
finishing touches. On the flip, things get a tad darker and slightly more
mental but perfect for the dancefloor as well.(SPORT14)TECH HOUSE-11/26/07-GE
RED ROBIN & JACOB HILDEN
TALES EP (TRAPEZ LTD) 12 - 108116
Red Robin & Jacob Hilden deliever
another SMOKER for Trapez LTD. Meaty basslines with extra cool catchy elements
to burn the floor right up! The flipside is a bit meaner but still on a
somewhat housey vibe. Kinda remeniscant of an old ayo & Bushwhacka cut
called "Another Chance".(TRAPLTD060)TECH HOUSE-11/26/07-GE
DIM
IS YOU *BRODINSKI* (BOYS NOIZE) 12 -
108185
HOT DAMN! D.I.M. sends up another
B.O.M.B.!!! Full fledge monster for the dancefloor. This ones got sick filter
work, and fuzzed out bass thats runs pretty damn deep! Glad he saved a bomb for
Boys Noize. On the flipside, Brodinski simplifies things a bit and plays around
with the little vocal snip, and then turns it into a 303 acid
jam!(BNR018)ELECTRO HOUSE-12/03/07-GE
VOODEUX
THE CURSE *M SHANNON*
(MOTHERSHIP) 12 - 108191
Another grand slam for Claude
Vonstroke's Mothership label. This time around, its Voodeux (Tanner Ross &
Kilo Watts) working their magic. Deeeeep spooky beats designed for early as well
as the ever so spooky late hours. Also has a sick remix from good ol Mike
Shannon, who keeps the groove similar to his remix of Brett Johnson &
Heathers "Everythings Electric".(MSHIP003)HOUSE-12/03/07-GE
