YELLOW SOX
ZIG ZAG *ROLAND APPEL* (FREERANGE) 12
- 107279
X Press 2's Darren House aka Diesel
has only released one track under his Yellow Sox guise. That would be the
incredible 'Flim Flam' which originally appearred on Nuphonic and was a
catalyst for the immense rise of that imprint. Here once again Diesel dons his
Yellow Sox monniker and drops whats sure to be a track as large as its
predecessor. 'Zig Zag' features thumping beats, sweet synth licks, a booming
sub bassline, captivating strings and that hypnotic & jacking house vibe
that fans of Dennis Ferrer will find unmissable. Sonar Kollektiv's Roland Appel
provides the remix, a trippier more psychedelic mix that adds really freaked
out sound design into the sauce and stirs nicely.(FR096)HOUSE-10/22/07-UK
DEETRON FT OVASOUL
I CLING *YORUBA SOUL* (MUSIC MAN) 12 -
107077
Osunlade provides the soul on this
second remix 12" for Deetron's "I Cling". His mix features his
patent blend of soulful afro inspired drumming and deep electronic elements
perfect for fans of Joe Claussell, Ron Trent and Carl Craig. On the B side
you'll find 'Backin', an unreleased new Deetron joint very much in the Redshape
vein.(MM137R)HOUSE-10/22/07-BE
DEETRON FT OVASOUL
I CLING *ARIL BRIKHA/ORIG* (MUSIC MAN)
12 - 107076
Latest single lifted from Deetron's
lauded debut album 'Twisted'. This first of two twelves features the original
mix which saw support from everyone from Ame, Giles Peterson, Laurent Garnier,
Carl Craig and Christian Prommer to name a few and features a sweet vocal from
Ovasoul laced into a deep soulful Detroit inspired groove. Aril Brikha serves
up the remix on this plate, a stunning rework that keeps all the soul of the
original and adds that deep techy vibe Aril is loved for with a touch of
filtering on the key stab groove, cavernous reverb and perfect use of the sweet
vocal.(MM137)HOUSE-10/22/07-BE
HAZE & SANDY RIVERA
FREAK *JIMPSTER* (DEFECTED) 12 -
107138
Kings of Tomorrow legend Sandy Rivera
teams up with Haze on this funky slice of sexy, sleazy house action. Their
original mix which is reportedly taken from a forthcoming album features quirky
synth licks, a deep male vocal hook and sparse hynotic and funky drum action.
Jimpster tunes in with two mixes both more soulful and even deeper than the
original. Definitely one for fans of his Freerange
output.(DFTD174)HOUSE-10/22/07-UK
JUSTIN HARRIS
DEFBROWS *JACOB LONDON* (BAKER STREET) 12 - 107299
Freaks' Justin Harris delivers the
third punishing blow for the Baker Street imprint. "Defbrows" is a raunchy, bumping
slice of dirty underground house with a filthy female vocal part, cool reversed
synth stabs, jacking beats and wild organ sounds & effects. Jacob London's
mix has a frantic and quite funky vibe with an off the wall bassline, shuffling
beats and that great cut and paste jerky action that we love so much about his
productions. Holmes & Waltz also provide a mix, a deeper more sublime
rub.(BST003)HOUSE-10/22/07-UK
LCD SOUNDSYSTEM
SOMEONE GREAT *CARL CRAIG* (DFA / EMI)
DP - 106954

JULIEN JABRE / DAVID DURIEZ
THE STOCK / WILDERNESS (BACK TO
FUNDAMENTAL) 12 - 107316
Julien Jabre took a long break after
his mega smash 'Swimming Places' which eventually landed on Defected to
critical acclaim. Here Julien delivers the second offering on Solid State of
House's newly formed sublabel Back To Fundamental and shows off a bit of the
sound that has influenced his productions. 'The Stock' pays hommage to a few of
Julien's heroes, Mr Fingers and Lil Louis. It's a deeply hypnotic and warm
euphoric house trip with heavenly pad stabs, entrancing synth grooves and deep
shuffling beats. On the flip David Duriez pays tribute to his biggest
influence, Dj Pierre and drops his modern take on classic acid
house.(SSOHB2F02)HOUSE-10/22/07-FR
MARTIN BUTTRICH
HUNTER (COCOON) 12 - 107338
Martin Buttrich is truly a phenomenon.
Since 1995, he's produced / engineered and remixed for various artists
including Loco Dice, Timo Maas, Mousse T, Depeche Mode and many more. Despite
only releasing 7 of his own productions, Martins name carries a lot of weight
as those productions have ALL been massive, especially his Planet E release
'Full Clip'. Here Martin brings his unique sense of groove and top not
production skills to the Cocoon imprint and drops the evil 'Hunter' and tough and
funky 'Haunting'. 'Hunter' features a slick and quite infectious synth hook
that instantly captures your ears and starts infiltrating your ass. There are
nasty and quite psychedelic oscillating pads, gruny bass and deep shuffling
minimal beats rounding off this sick production. 'Haunting' has a rougher vibe
with hard edged beats, a killer spoken word female vocal hook, deep melodies
and haunting pads.(COR039)HOUSE-10/22/07-GE
CHEMICAL BROTHERS
THE SALMON DANCE *DAFT MIX* (WHITE) 12
- 106512
The Daft crew are at it again, taking
on another Chemical Brothers cut and giving it a hefty make over. This mix has
a dirty Lexicon Ave feel working grinding synths, driving beats and dark
effected grooves.(AGAIN003)HOUSE-10/22/07-UK

FEEL IM FALLING (C2) 12 - 107211

disco bassline and gritty guitar hooks. Big tune for Junior Jack at the
moment.(12C2061)HOUSE-10/22/07-UK
SEBASTIEN TELLIER
SEXUAL SPORTSWEAR *SEBASTIAN* (RECORD
MAKERS) 12 - 107306

Bladerunner-esque italo anthem with 'Sexual Sportswear', beautifully melodic
with pretty and psychedelic synth arpeggios, deep pads and a super deep vibe.
Ed Bangers superstar Sebastian provides the remix, a rugged slowed down funked
up breaky hip hop infused affair with typically thickly cut beats, hard hitting
synth stabs and playful use of the original melodies in that unmistakable Ed
Banger way.(REC44)NU RAVE-10/22/07-FR

THE WHISPER HAD IT *REDSHAPE* (POKER
FLAT) 12 - 107364
Simon flower delievera an absolutely
gorgeous deep and techy cut that fits right in there on Steve Bug's Poker Flat
Recordings. Thick and heavy percussion with those dubby claps ala Andomat
3000's productions. Also, some of the deepest and darker pads you could ask
for. On the flip, Redshape does his thing and makes things a bit thicker and
definitely more mental. Finally, Mark August makes things a bit more direct and
glitchy as well for those into things like Dilo & Gurtz, Seph, or even some
of the Minus stuff.(PFR89)HOUSE-10/22/07-GE
THE REDHEAD
SHES SO DIRTY *VERNON & DACOST
(BUMP) 12 - 106775

exciting release with three spanking mixes of The Redhead's "She's So
Dirty". First up is Lil Mark who turns in a shuffling gem of a mix with
acid power and much funk in the trunk. Vernon & Dacosta's mix is a deeper
more lush house journey sounding like old Phonography or early Classic
material. Rounding off the package are Style Of Eye who also turn in a dope and
quite deep mix.(BUMP04)HOUSE-10/22/07-UK

LEN FAKI
MY BLACK SHEEP *RADIO SLAVE* (FIGURE)
12 - 107341
HOLY SHIT, we can't get over how nasty
Radio Slave has been lately. He's hit that sweet spot in his productions that
so few artists get to, that point where everything he touches is simply
DEVISTATING. His remix of Len Faki's 'My Black Sheep' is tough, dirty, funkier
than my armpits after a hundred mile bike ride and simply a funking nasty
dancefloor destroyer. Luke Slater provides a pretty cool mix on this plate but
for us, RADIO SLAVE is where its at!(FIGURE007)HOUSE-10/22/07-GE

added bonus, we get a KILLER Ricardo Villalobos remix which should please his
old fans as well as his newfound worshipers. This is a classic ezxample of why
he is one of the best producers out there today. DONT MISS THIS!(RAUM062)TECH

DJ SPEN
SEXY DANCER (CODE RED) 12 - 107300
After a string of sell out DJ dates
and critically acclaimed releases, big things are expected for DJ Spen's latest
offering. 'Sexy Dancer (Do That Sexy Dance)' is, as Spen himself ndicates, a
break from what you might expect from the Soul man. The original is so
tech-infused it's boderline techno; a driving track, with a tough kick, fizzing
hi-hats and an industrial feel, reinforced by a repetitive and forceful vocal.
The Tommy and Spen Mix moves into slightly more familiar territory, with a
bouncin' bassline, juicy pads and energetic keys, while still mainaining the
dynamic tempo of the original.(CODE014)HOUSE-10/22/07-UK
ALEC WIZZ
DRUMMIN *BENEDETTI* (4TH FLOOR) 12 -

Defected and countless other deep underground NY hits. Here on this first
release for the ressurection they unleash Alec Wizz's 'Drummin' a dope tribal
house number reminiscent of Tenaglia's Tribal America tunes with deeper more
soul infused mixes coming from Louis Benedetti who adds much slick live
percussion and trippy sound design to the tribal
madness.(FF2058)HOUSE-10/22/07-UK

of deep and soulful tech house with just a taste of a female vocal, cool synth
stabs that getted dubbed up nicely and filtered just a touch. This one has Doc
Martin written all over it, sounding like a cross between old school DIY and
Chris Simmonds' Lonely Disco Dancer material.(PENG39)HOUSE-10/22/07-UK

an Isolee mix went over big time with the deep minimal house and techno crews.
The third release saw a resurrection of Mylo's "Paris Four Hundred"
complete with a Sebastian remix, another big one for the Ed Banger crew. Here
Sister Phunk go after the Carl Craig and Swag fans out there with Schatrax's

can't quite place (years of pot abuse makes this a problem) and features a
stunning vocal, big funked up disco bassline, trippy effects and deeply
captivating atmospherics. The breakdown on the original mix make for some hands

distended drums, strident hook-laden bass, spiky guitars and those distinctive

Lawrence had a hit with this original of this way back on Liebe Detail #10. You

together a couple remixes here. The first one from Daniel Stefanik, who takes
the cut into deep bass territory waking it had to resist for the lovers of the
mental stuff. On the flip, Geiger is working under his Nass guise, which you
may recall his doing a remix under than name on Kindisch for Raz O'hara's
massive one from the late spring called "Whitmey Na". Anyhow, he does

Marcella struck it big last year with
'Stabbing Sally' which originally came out on Terminal 4 before getting picked
up by Royal Flush and eventually Renaissance. Here back on Terminal 4, Marcella
drops the next chapter in what we hope is a long string of releases. The 'Ravin
Mad' mix is a monstrous Herve styled number with booming bass blasts, jacking
beats, off the wall synth action, trippy vocal bits and immense dancefloor
pressure. It builds into a frenzy during the drop and kicks back in like a mule
kick. Both other mixes on this plate have that extra large fidgety sound that is
devistating on all dancefloors. Early support on this tune coming from a wide

12 - 107243
WHITE HOT 2 tracker here from Deadset
off the Front Room label. The A-side is a dark and mental builder in the
tradition of AME or Dixon. Super hot heavy floorfilling rhythms. On the flip,
things get bouncy and tweaky with a thick deep bassline to pump the floor into
a frenzy! Probably the best Deadset release yet. This one should be quite
massive so we reccomend you do not sleep on this! Getting HUGE support from

Steve Lawler & Audiofly team up

yeah? Well, youre wrong and so was I! This one is suprising for those who might
not fancy the average progressive house jams. Sure, theres some of its

DOP
BETWEEN THE BLUES (CIRCUS COMPANY) 12
- 107237
Dark and creepy lead track here from
DOP, who are making many waves in the techno world these days. Extremely
versatile and unpredictable in their productions. The lead cut "Allo Boom
Boom" is a creepy number along the lines of Run Stop Restore's
"Geometry" and Roman Flugel's "Mutter". On the flip
"Dopamin" is a classic example of the Circus Company house sound.
Bouncy and fun and shuffly as well. Slight vocals buried underneath. Think
Derrick Carter and Mike Shannon making music together and youre there. Finally
"The Between Blues" is a downtempo hip-hop cut.(CCS022)TECH HOUSE-10/15/07-GE

BUDDAH CALL / IN DOUBT (WAS NOT WAS)
12 - 105257
Marc Schneider delivers some tech

chord stabs making up the rhythm, as well as some other added FX thingys. The
coolest thing is a snare roll that kida rides underneath the whole time, but
never really comes to the complete forefront. Nice trick!(WNW014)HOUSE-

HUNGRY FOR LOVE (INSTITUBES) 12 -
107169
Straight outta Brookly, comes Curses
aka Drop The Lime and this nasty three track ep of grimey Nu Rave and slick
futuristic retro garage. The title cut 'Hungry For Love' is getting smashed
daily by Mr Oizo and Sebastian and features screaming synth riffs, a barrage of
filthy beats and powerful dirty bass. 'This Is The Way' comes in two mixes, the
first borrows lots of retro drums and sounds including some beats and bass from
M.A.R.R.S. 'Pump Up The Volume' and cleverly pastes it back together to form
something fresh and quite forward thinking. The remix of this gets crazy on a
grimey tip with huge ragga bass and broken beats.(INS12013)NU RAVE-10/15/07-FR

synth and drum action. Finally the 'Club' mix has more of a crossover

For over one decade, Mijk Van Dijk has
been a player on the forefront of the electronic dance scene. His productions
have rocked the hard techno, trance, minimal house and deep house scenes. Here
for his first outing on Brique Rouge Mijk drops an epic slice of Underground
Resistance styled deep techno meets house with brilliant key riffs that get
jazzy very much in the Rolando style, slick drum editing, warped acidic bass
and epic melodies giving the track a great uplifting vibe. By far the coolest
shit we've heard on Brique Rouge in a LONG TIME. Mazi & David Duriez team
up for the remix, a slick retro acid house fuelled rub with great 303 and 909
action, 'Strings Of Life' styled strings and dope driving
beats.(BR065)HOUSE-10/15/07-FR

Andrew Weatherall is a god when it
comes to funking up the remix, especially here where he drops the low slung
sleazy electro (breakbeat) funk for Siouxie Sioux's 'Into A Swan'. The bass on
this mix is insane and very Aphex Twin styled. On the flip you'll find Mekon

nasty vocoded effects and filthy breakbeats.(1742058)HOUSE-10/15/07-UK

COCA LOCA (KONTOR) 12 - 107240
BIG BIG tune here from Mr Dino Lenny.
'Coca Loca' is a dementedly dark warped slice of drugged up electro house gear
that features a haunting heavily effected whispered vocal, bouncy synth riffs,
a low slung 808 bell, the effervescent sound of a can of coke opening up and
seriously twisted touches of grunting/screaming. The synths drop in pitch
adding to the dementia of this awesome tune.(KONTOR639)HOUSE-10/15/07-GE

Cynic is one of those little labels
that many people overlook but have consistently been putting out killer tunes.
Doc Martin is a big fan of the imprint and still plays many of their releases
(especially the first release from Foolish & Sly). Here we are treated to
two deep dark underground killers, the first from Tugg whose productions have
been getting some major attention and whose previous efforts include drummiing
for Faze Action, Basement Jaxx, Lady Soverign and Kano. Here Tugg
unleashes the dirty acid funk reminiscent of RZ material with a definite nod to
Trax with a more modern vibe. Felix Dickinson on the flip drops 'Smokeless

reworks Pedro Madeira's 'Long Shadows'. We don't know quite what Christian
Prommer is on these days but we'd like some of whatever it is. His remixes have
been impeccible (Check his recent Wagon Cookin remixes on Compost HOLY
SHEEPSHIT!). Here Christian delivers a mix that fits perfectly with Ame's
"Rej" with a touch of Isolee's "Beau Mot Plage", deeply
hypnotic, stunningly beautiful and quite funky. On the flip Spencer Parker

track of his own which will be featured on the CD but unlikely make it to the

sublime slo mo groover which has been definitely dipping in the MDMA powder.
There's the extended vocal mix of number which is a hypnotic slice of
sophistocated tech-soul. 'Estoril' is magically reminiscent of Underworld at
their most experimental and rhythmic. Rounding off this awesome package is the

delivered an exceptional remix of Phuture's "Rise From Your Grave".
Already one of the more modern sounding records from Strictly RhythmÆs vast

perfection. The wobbling baseline sets the tracks undulating tone from the
start, and is joined by sharp claps and crisp hi-hats to give it an

nicely with the heavy hitters included on this package.(MFP029)MINIMAL TECHNO-

THE SUBS
KISS MY TRANCE (LEKTROLUV) 12 - 106645
Rave shit is back in full effect,
evident on this wicked limited number on Lektroluv from The Subs. Only 500
copies of this BOMB are going to be pressed so act quick if you're into the big
sounds of Sebastian or Justice. The synths on this piece are aggressive and noisy
as they come with a rumbling sustained bassline and a massive building moment
that sent Mr Oizo racing to the booth when he heard this one!(LL10LTD)NU

THE ACROBAT *EFDEMIN* (BPITCH CONTROL)
12 - 107029
The Acrobat is a deeper mental number
thats goes straight for the dancefloor. Deeper basslines on the AME side of
things, making this rhythmic groover one for the Bergheim's of the world. On
the flip, Efdamin delievers a heady remix as well with nice percussive elements
and a repeating synth line for that extra tweaky feel.(BPITCH158)TECH

BART B MORE
SO IT GOES (TOOLROOM TRAX) 12 - 107038
Toolroom deliver an EP chock-full of
wonky bleeps, mashed upbeats and sick basslines. The jewel in the crown is the
Pete Tong & Zabiela fave (and former ESSENTIAL NEW TUNE), title 'So It
Goes'! Teeming with colossal retro stabs, insistent vocal snippet and frenzied
zipping FX. 'Hyped Up' follows a more Dubsided sound with freaky bleepy
frenzied synths, dirrrty jacking beats and another perfect little vocal hook
inciting dancefloor madness.(TRT37V)HOUSE-10/15/07-UK

Stunning new joint from Moonbootica

HARDFLOOR
THE LIFE WE CHOOSE 3/3 (HARDFLOOR) 12
- 107220
Final installment in Hardfloor's 'The
Life We Choose' series featuring more incredible examples of their mastery of
the 303. 'The Question Remains' is like the deeper jazzier laid back kid cousin
of 'Aceperience', souful, dark and simply wicked. 'Me Three' picks up the
energy sounding like old school R&S gear with plenty of dancefloor
punch.(HFLP02.3)ACID HOUSE-10/15/07-GE

WHITMEY NA *GEIGER/NASS* (KINDISCH)
12 - 104769
Kindisch first expolded onto the scene
with Jay Haze's now classic "Soul in a Bottle" and havent let up
since! And, if you werent aware, they are the child label of GET PHYSICAL. This
release is now the 7th release, and quite possibly the best one yet! The
original is an almost beatless tune with a dreamy deep vocal. To remix it, the
crew got Geiger (aka Nass) to do an absolutely GORGEOUS late night pure techno
classic! The way the vocals are used on his mix are incredible. Sounds like he
was going for an old FINGERS/OWENS kind of feel. DEEEEP pads and shimmering
ride cymbals make this one magical in the late hours, and also great for open
air. And, just in case you arent feeling the vocal, they kindly provided an
instrumental of the Geiger remix as well.(KD007)HOUSE- 6/11/07-GE
RENE ET GASTON
MERLUCHE IDEALS EP (ARTLESS) 12 -
105686
Heres a welcome repress! The good
folks at Artless went and busted out an old highlight from the Rene et Gaston
archives. You might recall one of the sides from Kevin Sauderson's
"Transmissions From Deep Space" X-mix from K7. This track wasnt very
widely released back then so repressing it was MORE than a good idea! It almost
sounds better today than it did then! On the flip, another familliar Rene et
Gaston tune, though I cannot quite place it's origin. But its a classic example
of just how hot these guys can get/have been.(ARTLES2198)HOUSE- 7/23/07-GE
ROBERT BABICZ
PING PONG IN THE MOONLIGHT
(AUDIOMATIQUE) 12 - 106763
Deep, pumpin, and even a bit spooky
are some of the words we would use to describe this new one from Rob Acid. Even
contains that signature Robert Babicz cruch that he seems to use rather often.
On the flip, things get a bit "Energy Flash" with some deeper pads
and a touch of acid, of course!(AM025)TECH HOUSE- 9/24/07-GE

should be on Border Community, actually. Really REALLY great stuff here. If
your a fan of Nathan Fake or James Holden, you should be picking this

Heres a monster for ya! Dave Hughes
works as a sound engineer in L.A. and packs a whollop of production techniques into his
debut EP for John Tejada's Palette recordings. The A-side is a dirty beast of a
percussive minimal jam, while ending on a pretty note with Detroity chord
stabs. On the flip, things get a bit scarier and darker but still has the funk
you were egtting from the A-side. Solid stuff that rocks on a good
soundsystem.(PALETTE047)TECH HOUSE-10/08/07-GE

Sarah Goldfarb has been in the game
for a bit now making dark and minimal stuff that has pleased across the board.
This newest one for Treibstoff might be the best thing he's dont yet. Dark,
trippy, and did we mention dark? But, yes, there is still punch in there.
Trippy as hell vocals dripping with so much FX it sounds like a synth. On the
