MAIN
ORDER LIST
October
17, 2007
I haven’t had a lot of time to go through the list completely, but here are
the highlights – There is some really good deep house this week. There is a
massive amount of underground tech titles. The Hardstyle/Trance section is
bangin’ this week – the best there has been in a while. There are many quality
bootlegs as well as some sneaky represses. From what I heard Rob listening to
– there are some sick choppy electro tracks as well. Again, we don’t order
everything and there are a LOT of titles that we only order one copy of, and
that’s that we’ll ever get. Even a simple head’s up will help us to help you.
Get your requests in by Sunday October 14th .

KINKY MOVEMENT
HIT AND DIP (DROP MUSIC) 12 - 106478
Drop Music return with another fine
offering from Kinky Movement, a three track ep of deep jacking funky house
action. 'Illusions' kicks off the festivities and is a bumping slice of Inland
Knights styled chunky house with clever samples, a smidgen of funk and a touch
of jazz and disco to boot. 'Be Bop' is next up and features a prominent vocal
hook and more bumping jazz inflected chunky grooves. Rounding off this amazing
ep is 'Say What' a deeper more shuffling monster with a super fat analog
bassline, sweet beats and great touches of effects, pads and
soul.(DRM054)HOUSE-10/15/07-UK
ROBSOUL LIMITED SAMPLER
VOL 12 *ROB BROWN/CHRIS SIMMON
(ROBSOUL) 12 - 107184
Twelfth chapter in the Robsoul Limited
Sampler series sees cuts from Odds & Ends' Rob Brown and a killer cut from
Chris Simmonds. Rob Brown's cut is already a favorite with Dj Sneak and features
a jacking tracky Chi-town vibe with clangy percussion with lots of reversed
reverb, deep bass and a bumpity vibe. Chris Simmons cut on the flip is a deeper
more soulful jacking house gem with nice bits of female vocals, a slick
Detroit-ish synth line, a very clever bassline made from various bleepy tones
and swirling deep pads. Robsoul always deliver the
goods!(SOULLTD012)HOUSE-10/15/07-FR
SEBASTIAN
WALKMAN 2 /KILLING IN THE NAME (ED
BANGERS / BECAUSE) 12 - 107170
LIMITED WHITE LABEL PRESSING... One
year after having released his first vinyl; the striking 'Ross Ross Ross'
SebastiAn now comes again with a limited masterpiece as a teaser to his
forthcoming album. On the A side, his smashing tune 'Walkman' gets even heavier
with this new re-edit but it's all about the B side on this fucker where he
gives Rage Against The Machine the nu rave treatment that just FUCKING GOES OFF
AND EXPLODES WITH MASSIVE OVER THE TOP DANCEFLOOR ENERGY. You'll cream your
skinny jeans when you hear this reworking.(BEC5772152)NU RAVE-10/15/07-FR
TERRY HUNTER
WONDERFUL *KENNY DOPE* (SOUL HEAVEN)
12 - 106513
Terry Hunter's recent smash hit
"Wonderful" just got bigger with remixes from the inimitable Kenny
Dope. Kenny provides both a vocal and instrumental on this plate and we have to
say, they're fucking bad ass. Terisa Griffin's vocals are killer over Kenny's
nasty beats on the vocal mix and the bassline is as funky as they come. The
instrumental works the hell out of Kenny's breaky house beats and that fat new
bassline along with the pushing stabs which come more to the front of the mix.
An accapella is included as well on this package.(SHR016)HOUSE-10/15/07-UK
BUZZIN FLY
VOL 4 REMIXES *PROMMER* (BUZZIN FLY)
12 - 107028
Two outstanding tunes from Ben Watt's
recent 'Buzzin Fly Vol 4' mix compilation get reworked into epic journeys
courtesy of Christian Prommer and Spencer Parker. First up Christian Prommer
reworks Pedro Madeira's 'Long Shadows'. We don't know quite what Christian
Prommer is on these days but we'd like some of whatever it is. His remixes have
been impeccible (Check his recent Wagon Cookin remixes on Compost HOLY
SHEEPSHIT!). Here Christian delivers a mix that fits perfectly with Ame's
"Rej" with a touch of Isolee's "Beau Mot Plage", deeply
hypnotic, stunningly beautiful and quite funky. On the flip Spencer Parker
turns in a bumping remix of Martin Brodin's "Freaky Bleepy", very
much on the Justin Martin / Dirtybird deep jacking
tip.(030BUZZ)HOUSE-10/15/07-UK
ROB PEARSON FT ROBERT OWENS
ESCAPES FROM MADNESS *INLAND K (PLASTIC CITY) 12
- 107222
Rob Pearson's "Escapes From The
Madness" has a brilliand vocal coming from Robert Owens laced into deep
and techy grooves, big bass and deep beats. Remixes on this plate come from
Inland Knights and The Timewriter. The Timewriter is first up and provides a
deeper and much techier rub reminiscent of old school Terry Francis material.
Inland Knights serve up a chunkier harder hitting rub with dirty synths &
bass, beefy beats and their awesome swing.(PLAX059)HOUSE-10/15/07-GE
BOOKA SHADE
NUMBERS / ESTORIL (K7) 12 - 107150
Booka Shade has the honor of mixing
K7's next Dj Kicks compilation. Here we have a taste from what's to come, a
track of his own which will be featured on the CD but unlikely make it to the
LP vinyl companion. 'Numbers' is a typically polished production from Booka, a
sublime slo mo groover which has been definitely dipping in the MDMA powder.
There's the extended vocal mix of number which is a hypnotic slice of
sophistocated tech-soul. 'Estoril' is magically reminiscent of Underworld at
their most experimental and rhythmic. Rounding off this awesome package is the
extended club mix of 'Numbers' which borrows heavily from the legacy of
Detroits founders like Derrick May and Juan Atkins.(K7222)HOUSE-10/15/07-GE

PHUTURE
RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE *TIEFSCHW
(STRICTLY RHYTHM) 12 - 107168
Apparently inspired by digging through
their old records when compiling their 'Strictly Tiefschwarz' mix, the Berlin
boys have delivered an exceptional remix of Phuture's "Rise From Your
Grave". Already one of the more modern sounding records from Strictly
Rhythm’s vast back catalogue, Ali and Basti have tweaked, cut, blended, and
filtered to perfection. The wobbling baseline sets the tracks undulating tone
from the start, and is joined by sharp claps and crisp hi-hats to give it an
exceptionally polished feel. Fans of the original will be happy to know that
the off key synths still feature heavily, while the unmistakable, aggressive
vocal and harsh keys hit you late on to complete the ensemble and add to the
records sinister ambience.(SR12645)HOUSE-10/15/07-UK
JIHAD MUHAMMAD
THE RUSH *REMIXES* (ASANTE)
12 - 107177
Jihad Muhammad's 'The Rush' originally
appeared on the first Asante sampler and now finally finds a full release. The
sweet jazzy main mix which has been a staple in the sets of Kerri Chandler,
Quentin Harris and Danny Krivit is found on this platter along with two fresh
new mixes. The first, 'Roots Urban Jazz Mix' sticks the beautiful moody trumpet
line at the forefront of the mix giving it a dope Joe Claussell, Spiritual Life
vibe while deep percussion, beautiful strings and deep beats keep it all locked
together perfectly. The 'Dub' has a similar Spiritual Life / Ibadan
vibe.(AR001BF)HOUSE-10/15/07-UK
TIGER STRIPES
MAD AT ME (GET PHYSICAL) 12 - 107219
The bassline in the title cut 'Mad At
Me' has a huge Metro Area feel, pulsating single note action similar to 'Miura'
but the track is pure darkness and evil with nasty synth action that freaks out
in a Bobby Kondors 'Nervous Acid' kind of way. Mental shit! 'Survivor' has a
bouncier more tech funk feel with a great processed piano hook and 'Nacht' is a
soulful hypnotic electronic vibe with great Detroit
elements.(GPM081)HOUSE-10/15/07-GE
RADIO SLAVE
NO SLEEP *PT 3* (REKIDS) 12 - 107234
Long awaited third part of Radio
Slave's vinyl only and limited 'No Sleep' project arrives. We think this is the
best one by far and features a Sound Channel mix of 'Dedication' done in a
wicked jazz infused techno/house style that fans of Carl Craig & Theo
Parrish should NOT miss. Please note this will NOT be available for download
and the last pressing sold out on DAY ONE!(RKDS001)HOUSE-10/15/07-UK
DEADSET
BUZZER SAYS WERNER / CARD (FRONT ROOM)
12 - 107243
WHITE HOT 2 tracker here from Deadset
off the Front Room label. The A-side is a dark and mental builder in the
tradition of AME or Dixon. Super hot heavy floorfilling rhythms. On the flip,
things get bouncy and tweaky with a thick deep bassline to pump the floor into
a frenzy! Probably the best Deadset release yet. This one should be quite
massive so we reccomend you do not sleep on this! Getting HUGE support from
Villalobos, Luciano, Andrew Wetherall, Jamie Anderson, Laurent Garnier, Justin
Long, Mr C, Ralph Lawson, Rob Mello, Layo & Bushwacka, Mike Monday, .....
ok.... you get the idea.(FRM018)HOUSE-10/15/07-GE
ROISIN MURPHY
LET ME KNOW *NEGRO/OAKENFOLD* (EMI) 12
- 106440
Joey Negro, Andy Cato and Paul Oakenfold
all line up for remixes on Roisin Murphy's 'Let Me Know'. Joey Negro starts off
in his deep Akabu soulful electronic style, slowly teasing in Roisin's vocals
over a funk bassline and slick deep synth arpeggios. Paul Oakenfold makes a
rare appearance and provides a tough Lil Louis meets trance styled
mix.(12EM728)HOUSE-10/15/07-UK

GIVE IT TO ME/FEEL GOOD MAN (WHITE) 12
- 106510
More bang for your bootie buck on this

SIMON BAKER
GUTTERLEVEL (20 20 VISION) 12 - 106673
Simon Baker has been making lots of
noise in the underground with his 'Plastik' release on his own Infant imprint
getting HUGE support from everyone from Sven Vath, Sasha & Digweed, Ivan
Smagghe, Luciano and Erol Alkan. This track defied categorization and is still
a staple in many a top jocks dj set. Here for his debut on 20:20, Simon takes
his sound deeper than ever with a touch of acid and nicely filtering
frequencies on 'Gutterlevel', a tune which has captured the ears of Steve Bug
and Michael Mayer to name a few. On the flip is 'Bandit' a fave of label boss
Ralph Lawson who has included it on his upcoming mix compilation. It has a more
electro disco meets Lil Louis vibe.(VIS156)HOUSE-10/15/07-UK

CASSY
SOUL SAVIOUR (PERLON) 12 - 107133
Cassy makes a welcome return to the
Perlon label with two sleek slices of deep house action. The title cut 'Soul
Saviour' reminds us a lot of early Soul Phiction or Theo Parrish material with
a sweet blend of sparse minimal percussion, soulful vocals and big bass hits.
'More Policemen On The Beat' is another deeply moving soulful house gem which
once again proves that sometimes less is more.(PERL64)HOUSE-10/11/07-GE

MIJK VAN DIJK PR MICROGLOBE
HIGH ON HOPE *MAZI & DURIEZ*
(BRIQUE ROUGE) 12 - 107094
For over one decade, Mijk Van Dijk has
been a player on the forefront of the electronic dance scene. His productions
have rocked the hard techno, trance, minimal house and deep house scenes. Here
for his first outing on Brique Rouge Mijk drops an epic slice of Underground
Resistance styled deep techno meets house with brilliant key riffs that get
jazzy very much in the Rolando style, slick drum editing, warped acidic bass
and epic melodies giving the track a great uplifting vibe. By far the coolest
shit we've heard on Brique Rouge in a LONG TIME. Mazi & David Duriez team
up for the remix, a slick retro acid house fuelled rub with great 303 and 909
action, 'Strings Of Life' styled strings and dope driving
beats.(BR065)HOUSE-10/15/07-FR

SO IT GOES (TOOLROOM TRAX) 12 - 107038
Toolroom deliver an EP chock-full of
wonky bleeps, mashed upbeats and sick basslines. The jewel in the crown is the
Pete Tong & Zabiela fave (and former ESSENTIAL NEW TUNE), title 'So It
Goes'! Teeming with colossal retro stabs, insistent vocal snippet and frenzied
zipping FX. 'Hyped Up' follows a more Dubsided sound with freaky bleepy
frenzied synths, dirrrty jacking beats and another perfect little vocal hook
inciting dancefloor madness.(TRT37V)HOUSE-10/15/07-UK

The first single taken from highly
anticipated debut album, 'Coloured in Memory' from Berlin based
Jake Fairley aka Fairmont. His 'Gazebo' release on Holden's Border Community

After the phenomenal success of the
"Strings Of Live" 12", this is the second single lifted from one
of our most anticipated albums of the year, Christian Prommer's
"Drumlesson". The A side features Christian's remake of Isolee's
classic 'Beau Mot Plage' a jazz fuelled drum workout that does this classic
justice! On the flip you'll find 'Rex Drums' a slow sleazy workout with low
slung acid bassline, deep funky synth stabs and total Carl Craig vibe.(SK163)HOUSE-10/15/07-GE
CURSES
HUNGRY FOR LOVE (INSTITUBES) 12 -
107169
Straight outta Brookly, comes Curses
aka Drop The Lime and this nasty three track ep of grimey Nu Rave and slick
futuristic retro garage. The title cut 'Hungry For Love' is getting smashed
daily by Mr Oizo and Sebastian and features screaming synth riffs, a barrage of
filthy beats and powerful dirty bass. 'This Is The Way' comes in two mixes, the
first borrows lots of retro drums and sounds including some beats and bass from
M.A.R.R.S. 'Pump Up The Volume' and cleverly pastes it back together to form
something fresh and quite forward thinking. The remix of this gets crazy on a
grimey tip with huge ragga bass and broken beats.(INS12013)NU RAVE-10/15/07-FR

Dark and creepy lead track here from

versatile and unpredictable in their productions. The lead cut "Allo Boom

"Geometry" and Roman Flugel's "Mutter". On the flip
"Dopamin" is a classic example of the Circus Company house sound.
Bouncy and fun and shuffly as well. Slight vocals buried underneath. Think

"The Between Blues" is a downtempo hip-hop cut.(CCS022)TECH

KANES SPANISH HOME (MOTON) 12 - 106607
MOTON RECORDS IS BACK!! Loved and
revered by many a dj, MOTON is a sexy and elusive little eclectic beast of an
imprint that dropped its 1st 12" back 12 years ago in the Big Apple with
DJ Harvey at the helm on the 1st 2 releases. First off was "East"
then came the massive "Northbeach". Those 12"s & 20 others are
now going for big money and are long gone, but after much nice begging &
pleading the boys have decided to return & give you a big dose of what you
have been missing! Killer underground old skool disco, acid house and tasty

SECRETSUNDAZE VOL 1 SAMPLER
V/A *TWO ARMADILLOS/KISSOGRAM*
(SECRETSUNDAZE) 12 - 106901
Secretsundaze is one of the UK's best
running Sunday afternoon parties and this release is a taste of the kind of
deep grooving tunes that have made the party a six years plus success. First up
are Two Armadillos (Dessous) dropping 'Warriors', a track which epitomises the
vibe of the club, deep and soulful and quite electronic and chill. This would
sit perfectly on Dessous, or Liebe Detail or Moon Harbour or even
Mobilee. On the flip you'll find a James Priestly & Dan Berkson remix of
Kissogram's 'My Best Friend Is A Seahorse' a dubby Rhythm & Sound flavored
cut currently making big waves for Isolee. Both cuts are exclusive to this

SIOUXSIE
INTO A SWAN *WEATHERALL/MEKON*
(UNIVERSAL) 12 - 106951
Andrew Weatherall is a god when it
comes to funking up the remix, especially here where he drops the low slung
sleazy electro (breakbeat) funk for Siouxie Sioux's 'Into A Swan'. The bass on
this mix is insane and very Aphex Twin styled. On the flip you'll find Mekon
(Wall Of Sound) getting all old school on the mix, tearing out the vocal with
nasty vocoded effects and filthy breakbeats.(1742058)HOUSE-10/15/07-UK

Extra delicious 3 track EP previewing
the forthcoming "Future Sound Of Jazz 11" compilation. Including
tracks from Joash, a previously unreleased instrumental of No Theory's

exclusive to this ep. All three cuts on this ep befit the spirit of the series,
Joash's "Salome" is a heady, jazzy deep house smorgasboard of urgent
strings, moody melodies and slick drum programming perfect for fans of
Jazzanova. Neil Landstrum's "Jake's Room" didn't make it onto the
final mix of the CD but was so amazing they felt obligated to let us have it on

No Theory's "Strictly" is a must for fans of

COCA LOCA (KONTOR) 12 - 107240
BIG BIG tune here from Mr Dino Lenny.
'Coca Loca' is a dementedly dark warped slice of drugged up electro house gear
that features a haunting heavily effected whispered vocal, bouncy synth riffs,
a low slung 808 bell, the effervescent sound of a can of coke opening up and
seriously twisted touches of grunting/screaming. The synths drop in pitch
adding to the dementia of this awesome tune.(KONTOR639)HOUSE-10/15/07-GE

tweaky and trippy sounds, with percussion that sounds reminiscent of
Wishmountian's classic "Video"... or was it "Radio"... been
too long. Either way, it's a good 'un. On the flip, "Tribute" is a

GETTING HIGH/SMOKELESS MACHINE (CYNIC)
12 - 107291
Cynic is one of those little labels
that many people overlook but have consistently been putting out killer tunes.
Doc Martin is a big fan of the imprint and still plays many of their releases
(especially the first release from Foolish & Sly). Here we are treated to
two deep dark underground killers, the first from Tugg whose productions have
been getting some major attention and whose previous efforts include drummiing
for Faze Action, Basement Jaxx, Lady Soverign and Kano. Here Tugg
unleashes the dirty acid funk reminiscent of RZ material with a definite nod to
Trax with a more modern vibe. Felix Dickinson on the flip drops 'Smokeless

SWEET DREAMS (CONNAISSEUR) 12 - 107215
If Inner City's 'Big Fun' were written

features a heavenly female vocal part backed by soulful and hypnotic synth

REPRESS ALERT! The germans just cant
seem to get enough of the Daniel Wang/Balihu sound. So, they went and repressed
the record that started it all! "Look Ma, No Drum Machine" was
completely massive about 14 years ago. Huge disco sample, tough organic drums.
Trust us... youre gonna want it. The first batch of this repress blew out of
here quicker than previously imagined! We expect this pressing to do the same.

will not sit here (or anywhere else) for very long. Just a heads

DJ YELLOW has always had his finger on

quite hypnotic deep house number that definitely borrows some of that Dj
Gregory haunting, entrancing synth action. David Alvarado, who we're quite fond
of and haven't seen anything from in quite some time turns in a stunning deep

(ROLLERBOYS) 12 - 106980
The 'Swetalic ep' proves that Sweden doesn't
just produce minimal over compressed base kicks & Roxette! This four track
ep is a nice blend of epic disco, pop-harmonies, arpeggiated Poly 6 leads, Juno
106 basslines and warm Detroit pads. The perfect marriage between the analogue and
digital worlds and a real team effort in true spirit of disco. Remixes by
Fabrizio Mammarella & Arken. More nordic Nu-disko after the invasion from
Putsch 79, Lindstom, Prins Thomas, Todd Terjee and the likes. Currently getting
much love from Lindstrom, Dj Hell, Ilya Santana, Rune Lindbæk, Cosmo Vitelli,

New slices of deep tech house from the
duo James Priestley & Dan Berkson. Deeper and pretty stuff that fits right
at home on the Simple label, who is known for this sort of sound. On the

Pt 2 of selections from Kalabrese full

This guys stuff just keeps getting
better and better! For his 3rd release for Kompakt sublabel K2, Mr
Gatzigristos gets even MORE mental than previous with a thick bassline and all
kinda of trippy things going on. But this has more drive than usual. Think DAN

mental and housier.(K227)MINIMAL TECHNO- 6/11/07-GE
SARAH GOLDFARB
CRASHED BY EP (TREIBSTOFF) 12 - 104764
Sarah Goldfarb has been in the game
for a bit now making dark and minimal stuff that has pleased across the board.
This newest one for Treibstoff might be the best thing he's dont yet. Dark,
trippy, and did we mention dark? But, yes, there is still punch in there.
Trippy as hell vocals dripping with so much FX it sounds like a synth. On the
flip things get Sleeparchive-ish, Goldfarb style! Definitely a hot release from
an already very reliable producer!(TREIB072)MINIMAL TECHNO- 6/11/07-GE

MINILOGUE
INCA EP (WIR) 12 - 104434
This new one from Minilogue has got
instant classic written all over it. Maybe because most of its influence is
taken from an already classic in it's own right? Not sure. All we know is that
if we were to be in a mid-nineties late night SWEATBOX of a party, this would
be what we would want to hear! "Inca" is a slow building minimal acid
jam that takes major influence from the classic "ACID EIFEL" by Choice,
off of Transmat sublabel Fragile Records. Its got a neo-trance feel to it, but
then again, so did Acid Eifel! The difference here is that as it builds, it
gets more and more twisted with detuned stabs that are sure to think youre
about to lose control. This WILL be one of the bigger records this summer, just
so you know. Oh, and the flipside is good too.(WIR009)MINIMAL TECHNO-

More twisted acid house business from

FEELINGS 2 (ENVIRON) 12 - 106680
More hot and twisted tracks for disco
jackers and neurotic nu-romantics courtesy of Environ’s BABY OLIVER.
"Feelings 2" sounds like an out-take from Prince on the day he forgot
to take his meds, with the result cut and sliced by Ron Hardy and served up by
the Hot Mix 5 on WMBX. Always unpredictable, Baby Oliver flips the usual male
lyrical cliche and tells his lover, "You just give me sex when I need a
love fix - and you know that's not the same." The B-side is a
slow-building, dark epic called "Shot Caller" that juxtaposes the
sounds of gunshots with the famous Linn Drum rim shot sound in a wry sonic pun.
Sprinked with vocal garnishes rendered from memories of Depeche Mode and Art of
Noise, "Shot Caller" is sure to drive your dancefloor wild. Excellent

from thethe previous releases works again. MARK GRANT again on remixduties,
with a solid clubby vocal and instrumental version that keeps the driving
electro synths from the original and distorted vocals for a peak hour gritty
poppy track that hits right on the mark (ha ha). Also on this one is an
extended mix of the original with its stripped-down pulsating Kraftwerk meets
new wave flavor. Meanwhile the "Praise" mix is a full-on Green Velvet
mind-scrambler of jacked up electronic drums, screaming keys and warped EFX
washes creating panic on the floor.(RR2028)HOUSE- 2/24/06-US
TAHO
HYBRIDS *WINK* (OVUM) 12 - 106958
Josh Wink serves up both
re-interpretations on this Ovum release, taking two Taho tracks and giving them
the Wink treatment. First up is 'Hybrids' a funk fuelled cut featuring bouncey
analog synth bass that filters and freaks out at times in an acidic kind of way
without the 303 if you know what we mean. As the track progresses, deep
undulating pads creep in and the filters get stronger as do the slick shuffling
beats eventually working into a frenzy then breaking into a Detroit-esque hands
in the air moment. Killer shit! Josh's retooling of 'Shambhalla" has
another cool filtering sound that reminds us of Lil Mo Yin Yang's
"Reach" with a sweet freaky vocal that builds and abruptly stops
making for a dope moment. The bass on this mix is bumping and quite funky as
are the sneaky effected synths that creep into the
mix.(OVM183)TECHNO-10/10/07-US

Fred's trademark funky tech house
style-pumpin' dancefloor beats wuth a deep and moody vibe. The electro-ish bass
soundsshould please the modern ear while the epic stringsand syntharrangements
build tension and keep the energy high. On the Flip "Come On
Everybody" is a little more of a late night houser, with shuffling beats,
a funky bassline and lots of vocal samples throughout. The strings on top
make it a little reminiscent of Black Science Orchestra's "New Jersey

remix of "Don't Want Chu Now" by JT Donaldson and Tim Kvasnosky (Home

FINISHED COPY PROMOS. What a treat
Paradox Music has for us here. Just when you thought Seba & Krazy's 'High
Priestess' perfectly captured that old pinnacle DnB sound, Paradox pulls a
mighty trick out of the bag. 'Descendants' features layers upon layers of
reversed pads, flutes, chimes, guitar slaps and tablas capture a real sense of
nostalgia until the bass subs drop you back-forward in time. Skippy funk breaks
enter the equation at the perfect time and when the double bass drops, its
almost too perfect for words. Its not over though as Opus 3's heavenly vocalist
Kirsty Hawkshaw adds her vocals to complete this truly outstanding piece of
music.(PM015)DRUM & BASS-10/15/07-UK

highlighting the emergint talent of Instra:mental who collaborates with the
legendary Jonny L on the A, then flys solo on the flip. Jonny L vs
Instra:mental's 'Output 1-2' is a slice of purist D&B and is a lesson in

LIMITED ADVANCE WHITE LABEL PROMOS!
Counter Intelligence go for a split single for their 8th release, and it's
something of a tribute to the late Certificate 18 label on which the tracks
would have been perfectly suited were it still around. Russian based Dissident
has spent the last 11 years honing his craft and 'Nothing Outside Nothing' is a
strong example of his killer work with rollin beats and percussion, Russian
chanting, ethnic instruments and a big neurofunk bassline. 'Blind Viewer' is a
slice of future funk of half tempo glitchstep. Two killers from Dissident.
Fracture & Neptune deliver 'Planet 13' with warm pads and very quirky
steppy beats all paying tribute to the likes of Polar styled minimalism. This
track is way deep!(CIE008)DRUM & BASS- 9/27/07-UK

We decided to throw this release in

PAR GRINDVIK
WORLD OF MINE (TRUESOUL) 12 - 107062
Par Grindvik is fast tracking through
the ranks extremely quickly and is widely considered by many in the techno
community to be one of the best producers out there at the moment. His releases
over the last few years for Adam Beyer's Drumcode imprint as well as for labels
such as Stockholm LTD particularly his recent Nand-Grind release have gotten
some seriously heavy rotation from some of the most influential djs on the
planet. Here for Adam Beyer's Truesoul imprint he delivers what can only be
described as a 3 track masterpiece. The epic 11 minute A side has massive Carl
Craig influences and is a breathtaking deep journey that peaks and drops
relentlessly with its morphing mood changes and amazing production. The two
deeper tracks on the flip are also superb and this release has the potential to
be absolutely enormous.(TRUE1215)TECHNO-10/15/07-UK

. Definitely bouncy and playful, yet still quite serious. Good for picking
things up a bit, for sure. Next up is Uto Karem with an even more bouncey
techno cut with lots of nice percussive elements to freak things out a bit. In
closing, we have 3 Abnormal Boys with a more serious tech house approach. If
you caught the 3 Abnormal Boys release on Frankie a few months ago, then you
know what to expect.(LR004)TECHNO-10/15/07-GE

with the deep dubby techno of 'Panchakarma' which has a dop Chain Reaction

in the northern European scene, evokes the moodiness of Trentemoller while
channelling the melodic sensibilities of Pantha du Prince. On remix duties, San Francisco
producer Dave Aju (Circus Company, Context) serves up an absolutely HUGE
remix of "Utopia" with his trademark jazz-minimal funk. San Francisco's
Betalounge cofounder Todd Kurnat, aka Circuit 73, dishes a banging electro-tech
crowd pleaser to roung out the Ep.(DCP007)MINIMAL TECHNO- 9/27/07-US

CUZ OF U (RELIEF) 12 - 89925
The hits keep coming from the mighty
GREEN VELVET and his fatastic "Walk in Love" album. "Cuz of
U" is the latest bomb to get the single treatment, and the winning formula
from thethe previous releases works again. MARK GRANT again on remixduties,
with a solid clubby vocal and instrumental version that keeps the driving electro
synths from the original and distorted vocals for a peak hour gritty poppy
track that hits right on the mark (ha ha). Also on this one is an extended mix
of the original with its stripped-down pulsating Kraftwerk meets new wave
flavor. Meanwhile the "Praise" mix is a full-on Green Velvet
mind-scrambler of jacked up electronic drums, screaming keys and warped EFX
washes creating panic on the floor.(RR2028)HOUSE- 2/24/06-US

WEDGE
OVERFIEND *GATEKEEPER* (REDUCTION) 12
- 107286
FINISHED COPY PROMOS. New imprint
Reduction Records kicks off proceedings with a seriously darkside plate from Bristol
producers Wedge and Gatekeeper. First up is HENCH stalwart Wedge finally seeing
his debut release on wax to follow up his regular DJ appearances in the clubs
and on the radio. His cut 'Overfiend' opens with metallic screeches and rushes
of cold air then the nasty bass and grumbling mids spiral around the clacking
riddim. On the flip, Gatekeeper takes the original out into space for a
chilling, dubbed out rework, stripping it back to the bare basics then adding
paranoid sounds to incredible effect.(RDCTN001)DUBSTEP-10/15/07-UK
BASS CLEF
ZAMYATIN TAPES VOL 1 (BLANK TAPES) 12
- 106720
Bass Clef drop the first of a two part
series and they have certainly upped the ante with this mega bomb.. The opening
track "One Hundred Point Three" is just immense, an inverted 2 step
reduction filtered through an arpegiated bassline that's just totally
relentless, the man behind the controls getting busy with some clever edits and
dancefloor manipulationsthat are impossible to describe, but somehow bring to
mind a cross between Mika Vainio, Burial and Errorsmith. Sounds sick. "23
Tunnel Chords" follows and makes more traditional use of the snares and
heavy bass drops, but flip over and you find yourself in the presence of the
immense "Get On The A1 And Drive And Drive" with it's demented snares
and barely contained low-end rubs, fed through squashed filters and emerging at
the other end with sublime Detroit-y chords. SIMPLY HUGE!(BLANK008)DUBSTEP-

MILK & HONEY DUBSTEPPER (MR BONGO)
12 - 106798
Fantastic new 12" from Mr Bongo,

the track depth lacking in many of today's stepping productions. Dub included

JUSTICE / CHINAWHITE (IMMIGRANT) 12 -
106612
Immigrant Recordings is the new label
managed by up and coming dubstep producers Subeena & Dot. This first
release features four very different, very cool tunes. 'Justice' from Subeena
is a super deep track that transports you to another dimension with ruff pads,
super dark bassline and wicked drum movement. Cyrus remixes this tune dropping
a droning sub bassline into the mix that you can feel in your gut and minimal
effects to give the track an extra large feel. Dot's 'Chinawhite' Chinawhite
opens with an organic intro dropping into a dangerous beat with slick Chinese
violins all on top of a rude bassline. Elemental remixes this into a
masterpiece.(IMM001)DUBSTEP- 9/13/07-UK

had the pleasure to lay our ears on recently". We'd have to agree starting
with 'The Plague' which begins with haunting echoes, creaking synths and the
distant sound of children singing before a blistering drop featuring tearing

Forth ep to be lifted from Passenger's
brilliant mix album 'This Way Up'. On the A we have a dream team collaboration
between Aquasky, Dj Friction and MC Spyda. 'Control Freak' features wicked
ragga vocals from Spyda while Friction and Aquasky get nasty on the controls.
It's a break-step bomb with a dirty nu school inspired bassline that wobbles
and filters nastily, there are some filthy interludes of hard hitting bass and
slick funky drum editing that is powerful and funky as hell. On the flip you'll

myriad of releases on labels such as Broke, Combat Wax, Wireframe etc. 'Flick
It' is a big and filthy (what did you expect?) ragga splattered tune with a
grimey bassline, pumping beats and extra terrestrial bleeps. Flipside, "On

hrpsichord action to present a celestial tear out view. A definite dancefloor

edgy breaks monster.(CFUNK031)BREAKBEAT- 9/13/07-UK

Already a firm favorite of Elite Force
who've remixed the track on this 12" too, "El Magnifico" is a
stomping slice of rugged breakbeat action with a nasty electronic b-line,
trippy effects and carnival flavoured beats. Elite Force's mix is monstrous
beefing up the beats beyond belief and dubbing out most of the vocals while
adding a shaking synth groove. Mowgli also chime in for a nasty remix making
this one killer package.(MTR2330)BREAKBEAT-10/01/07-UK
