LAWNCHAIR GENERALS
WHEN I THINK *SWIRL PEOPLE* (AROMA) 12
- 106324
SYNTAX EXCLUSIVE! The Lawnchair
Generals are responsible for one of the biggest selling records at Syntax ever,
"You Got To / Stop Frontin". Their productions aren't spit out in
assembly line fashion as each is crafted, rehoned, polished and reworked to
perfection. Here we have another superbly crafted cut in the form of "When
I Think", a cut that features a perfect vocal sample backed by funky bass,
deep stabs, atmospherics and bouncing funked up beats. Swirl People tune in for
the remix, chopping up both the vocal & beats a bit more while still retaining
all the funky bouncy vibe of the original.(AROMA056)HOUSE- 9/24/07-BE
TONY ALLEN
KILODE *CARL CRAIG* (HONEST JONS) 12 -
106655
Carl Craig has an uncanny knack for
taking remixes to a higher level, to a place that's inescapably funky and bad
ass. He did it recently with his remix of Theo Parrish's "Falling Up"
and who can forget the job he did on Cesaria Evora's "Angola".
Well, Mr Craig is back up to his old tricks and KILLS this number from Tony
Allen, injecting "Kilode" with a healthy dose of dirty raw
underground funk that again is irresistable. DONT SLEEP PEOPLE THIS SHIT IS BAD
ASS!(HJP39)HOUSE- 9/24/07-UK
JAMANTA CREW
THE JAZZ BAND (BAMBINO) 12 - 106043
Brazilian house music collective
headed by CLASSIC's Prztz return with a smoldering ep of bumping jazz infused
house bombs for Bambino. The title cut "Jazz Band" has a delicious
Greens Keepers meets Lawnchair Generals vibe with great touches of quirky jazzy
instrumentation, deep jacking beats and bumpity booming bass. "Throwback"
on the flip features loads of old school hip hop samples thrown into a beefy
shuffling house production that has gotten early plays from the likes of
Farina, Fred Everything and Inland Knights.(BAM007)HOUSE- 9/24/07-UK
AMADOR MICHELLE
BECAUSE OF YOU *YORUBA SOUL* (SICK
TRUMPET) 12 - 106735
Vocalist Michelle Amador has a smokey
jazzy voice that has a similar vibe as Amy Winehouse. Here her laid back
soulful jam 'Because of You' gets some dope remixes. Osunlade dons his Yoruba
Soul monniker for his rub, a deep electronic mix that fits perfectly into the
Ame/Ferrer sound as of late, super sexy and soulful. Atjazz provide a minimal
breaky mix that lets Michelle's vocals do all the work while minimal
percussion, deep broken chords and beautiful strings fill in the rest of this
very cool arrangement.(ST007)HOUSE- 9/24/07-UK

DUBFIRE
RIBCAGE (DESOLAT) 12 - 106130
Deep Dish member Dubfire continues to
ignite fires in clubland, first with the Toolroom-released 'Roadkill' and now
the even more massive 'Ribcage' here on Martin Buttrich & Loco Dice's new
Desolat imprint. If 'Ribcage' had teeth it would be a tiger shark!! Strong
techy beats with a compressed 808-style bottom end dominate this stripped-down
techno/minimal/maximal gem, punctuated by sharp key stabs and crazy dub/dubstep
fx elements that add truckloads of dirt to the tune. This is one of those
tracks that you first hear on your crappy computer speakers and even then you
can tell its got that sound thats gonna be HUGE!!(DESOLAT001)TECH HOUSE-

ENTER SANDMAN *DIRTY FUNKER* (WHITE)
12 - 106433
Dirty Funker is up to his dirty tricks
lacing up Metallica's smash "Enter Sandman" into a rocking house
joint. The first mix gets behind the great guitar licks and adds jacking beefy
beats with a bit of the original vocal and nicely programmed grooves. The mix
on the flip has more of a dirty electro house vibe.(DFMET1)HOUSE- 9/24/07-UK
AZZIDO DA BASS FT ADRIAN HOLTZ
SO WRONG *SPEAKER JUNK* (LUCIOUS
SOUNDS) 12 - 106748
Azzido Da Bass teams up with vocalist
Adrain Holtz and unleashes another biggie with 'So Wrong'. Backed by a fierce
synth bassline, bleepy synth action and snapping beats, 'So Wrong' is pure
underground club delight. The Speaker Junk mix is simply insane, all Solid
Grooved out with a touch of DFA thanks to the very slick vocal and some clever
editing and drum funk programming. HUGE and a must for fans of
Dubsided..(LUSC009)HOUSE- 9/24/07-GE
SINISTER INDUSTRY
MORNING (MADE TO PLAY) 12 - 106774
Here's another WHITE HOT release for
Jesse Rose's Made To Play label! The original is a meaty and mean peak hour jam
that contains a sample of the Roger Whittaker classic "Morning Please
Don't Come" and it's groove lies right around the Tiefschwarz remix of
Spektrum's "Kinda New" from a few years back. Also contains a Deadset
remix that treads in more acidic territories. This one will be a big one for
the upcoming Fall season, for sure!(MTP009)HOUSE- 9/24/07-GE
OFFICE GOSSIP
CARBON COPY EP (WINDING ROAD) 12 - 106776
Heres another massive release for the Winding Road

to be said, other than it's classic Carl Craig mindmelt material? Not much. How
bout if we throw in a deep and shuffly remix from Turntable Rocker, and Drama

Kolombo recently blessed us with a
naughty remix of Madonna and Salt & Peppa and here teams up with fellow

house action. This ep could easily sit on Get Physical or Liebe Detail with its
great blend of bouncy electronic melodies, deep beats and quirky funky

TOM MIDDLETON
EXCURSIONS (BIG CHILL) 12 - 106402
International DJ / producer and
tastemaker Tom Middleton relases his first solo EP 'Excursions 1' ahead of the
release of his debut artist album "Lifetracks".
"Shinkansen" opens up the festivities and is a gorgeous breaky
melodic house gem with sun drenched and heavily effected melodies, slick deep
percussion, incredible sound design and a sound that would rightly fit LTJ
Bukem's "Earth" series. "Starq" is a percussive monster
that sounds like early Black Science Orchestra material, pure disco funk.
Rounding off the ep is "Sense Is Real" a retro jazz meets Compost /
Jazzanova styled deep house number with slick instrumentation, deep groovy
beats and Tom's unmistakable sense of deep melody.(CHILLEP010)HOUSE- 9/24/07-UK

A welcome return to Defected from one
of the most consistent producers who teams up with vocalist Shena for an
uplifting, soulful club cut that's bound for big things. The original mix does
the job for the peaktime funky floors, while the sunrise dub takes things on a
more tribal techy trip. On the remix duties is Chicago house veteran Mark Grant

LOUIS VEGA
BACK IN THE BOX SAMPLER 2 (NRK) 12 -
106696
Second sampler taken from Louis Vega's
forthcoming mix compilation on NRK features two more classic slices of old
school house action that have helped Louis define his sound as a dj. On the A,
NY's multi-talented Eric Kupper cranked out an epic 11 minute remix of Groove
Collective's version of the Beatles number 'I Want You (She's So Heavy)',
swinging, deep jazz house at its finest. On the flip, Nick Holder's legendary
'Summer Daze', with its Pat Metheney sample gliding over Holder's shuffling
latino percussion. A track that has featured in so many sunset sets over the
years and is also a big favourite with the Krivit / Claussel / Kevorkian
crew.(BITB02SB)HOUSE- 9/24/07-UK
LOUIS VEGA
BACK IN THE BOX SAMPLER 1 (NRK) 12 -
106399
An upfront 12" sampler featuring
two classic house tracks, as featured on Louie Vega's forthcoming 'Back In The
Box' compilation. On the A side you'll find the Todd Terry classic, "Hear
The Music", a much sought after gem. On the flip you'll find one of my
personal faves, Black Science Orchestra's "Where Were You", a true
deep & uplifting disco house classic.(BITB02SA)HOUSE- 9/10/07-UK
MAGIK JOHNSON
ASYLUMN SNEAKER (CURFEW) 12 - 106738
NRK regular Magik Johnson delivers
this next nasty release for the Curfew imprint. The A side sounds a lot like a
techier Switch production with nasty booming bass, thunderous beats and rugged
filtering and freaking synth riffs. Magik J gets all freaky on the twisted
electro synths on the drops and the beat programming is all Solid Groove. SICK!
On the flip you'll find the 'Padded Cell' remix, an equally powerful fidgety
bomb of a mix.(CURFEW005)HOUSE- 9/24/07-UK
DJ GREGORY
YOU ARE MY FRIEND (BACK TO FUNDAMENTAL)
12 - 106337
The Back To Fundamental imprint is a
new project that takes some of France's heaviest hitting house producers and has them
express their version of early house music, incorporating their influences on
thier current production. First up in the series is Dj Gregory, a man who's
been wowing us with inescapable and timeless tunes for the past five years.
"You Are My Friend" has a wicked hands in the air feel thanks to some
great uplifting synth riffs and pads along with some great retro stab grooves
all backed by Gregory's deep driving beats and some old school bass. When the
vocal finally drops it's all Pete Heller "Big Love" and the track
really takes off.(SSOHB2F01)HOUSE- 9/10/07-FR
FRANCK ROGER
CIRCLES (EARTHRUMENTAL) 12 - 106419
The French deep house master, Franck
Roger continues the string of outstanding releases on his Earthrumental seires
with this double A sided bomb. "Circles" has a deep techy and soulful
edge that fans of Karizma, Ferrer and Chandler will undoubtedly fawn over. "The Hills" on
the flip is another rocking deep instrumental with hypnotic key grooves, trippy
effects and that soulful edge that Franck does so well. This tune is getting
serious attention from Henrik Schwarz, Ame and Dixon.(EM06)HOUSE- 9/10/07-FR
FRANCK ROGER
RE BIRTH (REAL TONE) 12 - 106572
Franck Roger's delves into more
Spiritual Life styled territory on 'Re Birth'. It features gorgeous pianos and
strings, emotional chords, slick minimal percussion and some epiphanous moments
brought on by melody not the obvious drum build or drops. 'Serenity' heads down
a more Osunlade route going with the some great afro percussion, deep chords
and some sweet live instrumentation. Rounding off this must have deep house ep
is 'New Hope', a slightly slower but no less beautiful or funky
number.(RTR023)HOUSE- 9/17/07-FR
BOB SINCLAR
MEU CARNIVAL (YELLOW PRODUCTIONS) 12 -
106592
Bob Sinclar returns with his first
full fledged new single since his chartbusting "Western Dream".
"Meu Carnival" is a carnival inspired latin house bomb with
infectious rhythms, slick guitar, catchy vocals and energetic party starting
drums. There's some great crowd cheering that gives the track incredible energy
and induces the same cheering and good vibes when you hear this out. A dub is
included on the flip which throws in a smashing horn section.(YP237)HOUSE-

BLACKJOY
METAL BOSSA *RESTLESS SOUL* (PROJECT)
12 - 106707
Blackjoy return to the Project
Recordings imprint after two heavyweight ep's for the Freerange ep and their
massive "Moustache" which originally appeared on Yellow Productions',
Art Of Disco imprint and later got licensed to NRK where it saw some mixes from
Prins Thomas & Franck Roger. Here their "Metal Bossa" tune taken
from a forthcoming album gets the remix treatment from Phil Asher. Mr Asher
provides three mixes on this platter, all heavy on the soul. Our favorite is
the vocal mix where Phil gets super deep and funky on the production while
Sandra N'Kakes provides an oustanding vocal performance. This shit is heavy
folks! Hands down the best thing we've heard from Restless Soul in a long
time!!!(PRO011)HOUSE- 9/24/07-FR
EINZELKIND VS MEAT
WORDS FROM THE FRONTLINES (GET
PHYSICAL) 12 - 106742
Following their celebrated 'Meat Is
Murder' ep, Meat aka Carsten Schuchmann teams up with Get Physical / Playhouse
regular Einzelkind for 'Words From The Frontline'. The track has a dope
marching quality about it with Detroit influenced jazzy keyboard motifs, trippy vocal
effects, pulsing pads which grow during the break and cool retro hand clap
action. 'Hear The Man' is a brooding dirty house cut that label main man Dj T
has been killing for some time now and rounding off this package is 'Ready For
This', a sparse and funky cut with flowing water sound effects, deeper than
deep grooves, freaky sustained pads and tough driving beats.(GPM076)HOUSE-

(PROMO) 12 - 106138
Mark Ronson follows the success of his
Chicken Lips-remixed 'Stop Me' with this even stronger package featuring the
vocals of Lilly Allen and pair of killer electro house mixes by the white-hot Chris Lake. Lilly's
vocals get cut up, delayed and effected over a grinding e-house bassline and
tough jacking beats strong enough to rock any dancefloor. We're torn between
both of Lake's mixes as to which one we love best!(MRDJ01)ELECTRO HOUSE- 9/24/07-UK

HOLD ON ME *CHUS & CEBALLOS*
(CHUMBO MUNDO) 12 - 106715
Lots of big names on this package, as
Tom Stephan & Roger S collaborate with Kevin Aviance on 'Hold On Me'. The
original mix is cool, as is the Kamisshake mix and Superchumbo rub, but the mix
of choice here is by far the Chus & Ceballos remix. It has a burning funky
Murk meets Tenaglia vibe with dirty bouncy acidic bass, layers of percussive
elements and perfect working of the original parts to create a full on party
starting stomper. The breakdowns and stop / start action on this mix sends the
floor into frenzies.(LEAD007)HOUSE- 9/24/07-UK

form 'Disco Rout'. It features full on arpeggiated synth grooves, laser blast
sounds and thumping beats. Deetron is first up on the remix, a super deep techy

CHYMERA
WISH / EUCALYPTIC (NRK) 12 - 106563
Ireland's Chymera releases his debut release on NRK after dropping a beast of a
release on Josh Wink's Ovum. 'Wish' has been drawing comparison to the mighty
Underground Resistance's "Knights Of The Jaguar" and oozes with deep
undulating techno class and Detroit influences laced into a deep pulsating
rhythmic groove. House, Techno, Trance heads alike will freak on this one.
'Eucalyptic' on the flip has an old school Orbital vibe thanks to some great
melody work but proper futuristic drums & grooves.(NRK134)HOUSE- 9/17/07-UK

SID BUBBLE *GERVAIS* (AZULI) 12 -
105498
HUGE building over the top dark
dancefloor killer from Sweden's JDotP. "Sid Bubble" comes in two mixes on
this platter. The Yer Man mix is one of those tunes the crowd will go wild
over, the breakdown is wild and goes bezerk when it finally kicks back into the
energetic electro house grooves. The Gervais mix has a dirtier more underground
sweaty drugged up vibe sounding like a mixture of Murk / Superchumbo and Steve
Angello material.(AZNY246)HOUSE- 9/24/07-UK

Dirty 30 first popped up on our radar
screen on Truffle Music which saw much support from Brennan Green (who remixed
the project), Idjut Boys, Dj Spun, Ben Cook and a slew of other twisted disco
junkies. Here with 'Disco Apocalypto' they've already seen support from Simian
Mobile Disco who say 'the best record we've heard in ages', Joakim, Tim Sweeney
and Francois K. It's a funking, grinding slice of twisted disco meets acid
house reminiscent of Dj Harvey's remix of Extended Family's

REAKTOR (KITSUNE) 12 - 106712
Autokratz follow in the footsteps of
the likes of Simian Mobile Disco, Digitalism, and the Klaxons with their debut
joint on Kitsune. 'Reaktor' is a rocking slice of punky electro house with a
monstrous synth hook, pulsating melodies, sleazy vocal stabs and bleepy rocking
goodness. 'It's On' on the flip is a slightly darker slice of funky electro
house which definitely borrow on the Daft Punk sound and has been getting much
support from Digitalism.(KITSUNE54)ELECTRO HOUSE- 9/24/07-FR

From the mind of DJ Lab and the Echocord

DAVE ANGEL
TAURUS / GEMINI (NIAH) 12 - 106739
Dave Angel should need no introduction
as a producer having been a seminal character on the techno scene for many
years with too many releases to mention. His new label Niah is part of a
reinvention of himself as a producer and this second release follows the highly
acclaimed first release a few months ago which saw much love from Carl Cox,
Darren Emerson and Funk D'Void. This new 2 tracker sees Dave's sound develop
even further and take from his early Detroit influences and create two tracks
of blissful deep techno/house grooves. Very Carl Craig

12 - 106782
God damn Herve is on a tear, he's
following in the footsteps of Switch with MASSIVE fidgety bumping house
remixes. Here Herve goes bezerk on Larry Tee's 'Licky', working the clever and
sleazy vocals into a breaky, booming, heavily edited fidget house groove. The
bass is just insane and the beats are huge. Sebastien Leger's mix has more of a
sleazy electro vibe about it while Kris Menace goes in a more 80's
direction.(HOLON008)HOUSE- 9/24/07-GE

Foreigner's rock anthem 'Emergency' into a dancefloor bomb. Three mixes on this
platter, the first is a slightly filtered and quite massive electro house
stomper with that unmissable part of the chorus from the original laced in. The

'Diamondtrack' joins the dots between softer electronic melodies of Lindstrom

a hard time putting it into any one genre. The 'Electro Vocal' mix features a
massive grinding synth hook that has Herve written all over it while Cameo
'Word Up' styled beats push things along and Sabrina's vocal rides like an
R&B singer doing Peaches & Hird in the groove. The 'Heavy Swirl' mix

Craig's original is a soulful slice of

instrumentation, especially those keyboard solos. Craig's remix is a beefed up
version that takes the song in a whole new direction with an added haunting
keyboard line, echoing vocal treatment and some synth solos that totally change

layers of keys, synths and percussion, gives it a funky jazzedge while

best. Amazing edits, creepy basslines, mental subs and complete darkness.

MARTSMAN
KONTAMIN *promo* (TRUST IN MUSIC) 12 -
106723
Coming up with a mixture of drumfunk
elements, dubstep vibes and old school sounds, Martsman is a new school fucker
to be on the lookout for. He's got one burning on Counter Intelligence already
and with this Trust In Music release he's cemented himself as an artist who is
on the rise. 'Kontamin' picks up on the sound of the late 90's of Ram, Virus
and Reinforced and incorporates them into his own conception of modern D&B.
His drum programming is playful, bouncy and rolling, the basslines are clear
and punchy and the atmospheres are loaded with epic deepness.(TRIM004)DRUM

QUINCE
THE SUMMIT (MUSIC MAN) 12 - 106256
After two highly regarded ep's for the
Delsin imprint, Quince drops a doozy for the Music Man label. "The Summit" has
all the energy and wild synth energy of Isolee's "Beau Mot Plage"
with quite possibly even more dancefloor punch thanks to some great driving
beats. On the flip Quince delves deeper with "SOFAR" a mind boggling
twisted deep subliminal hypnotic ride.(MM136)TECHNO- 9/24/07-BE

extended breakdown with some nice FX explosions here and there. On the
flipside, Matthias gets rather organic and goes into conga mode and even adds
some african chanting!(ARCHLP007)TECHNO- 9/17/07-US

TADEO
CAOS *FUSIPHORM* (CRAY 1 LABWORKS) 12
- 106635
Tadeo can count Troy Pierce, Loco Dice
and Martinez among the supporters of 'Fractal' the first cut on this ep. It's a
plodding minimal number with sweet sound design, driving grooves and an
Underl_ne / Matt John kind of feel. Fusiphorm provides the remix, a slightly
deeper more hypnotic techno rub. The title track 'Caos' is a dope slice of Detroit techno.
