SIDE POCKET EP  - TASTIE MUSIC –  UK

This 2nd ep from Tastie Music is full of surprises. The EP kicks of with 'The Beat goes Boom' a Jazzy deep groove with rolling bongos and shuffling beats and its bluesy piano melodies. Craig Hamilton Jacks up on the remix with steppin' beats and bumby B Line. Flip it over for the tasty head nodder 'Tell Me', a blend of jazz and funk vibes all caressed with a subby B Line and old skool vocal 'Let it Go'. After rippin' up the dancefloors with the first two Jackin Jazz releases Rich comes with a brand new track called "Disco Legs" he drafts in House Maestro Johnny Fisco and rising star Loopity Goofs on the remix's.   Rich's mix goes for a Funked up Jackin mix with an Acid B-Line, Johnny's mix starts with a pulsing 4/4 kick and echoing Old Skool female vocal which grabs the attention before the track drops its twisted acid bassline and stabbed Acid Riffs. TREVOR LOVEYS & SINDEN

ORGAN GRINDER (DUBSIDED) 12  - 104714

Another absolutely massive new jam from Dubsided with Trevor Loveys and Sinden doing the damage this time out. This 4 tracker leads off with the bumpin' title cut 'Organ Grinder' with its fierce jackin' beats, squelchy acidic bassline from hell and all manner of wonky, cut-up and generally abused samples and sounds- easily one of THE best Dubsided tracks yet, and thats only the FIRST of 4 tracks on this EP!!! Loveys follows suit with 'The Crossing', 'Can't Stop' plus a new edit of 'Finger Jackin' that makes damn sure you get more than your money's worth.(DSD013)HOUSE- 6/11/07-UK

MR OIZO

TRANSEXUAL (ED BANGERS) 12  - 104466

2007 is set to be as big a year for Mr Oizo as 1997, the year in which "Flat Beat" was released. His productions as of late have been the driving force of the nu rave movement and this five tracker provides a funkier edge to that sound. The title cut is a speak n spell styled bomb that is catchy as hell. "Ovoma" gets raw and funky with synth grooves that are off the wall and quite infectious as well, sounding like a quirky movie soundtrack meets dirty underground funk. "Patrick 122" is already a huge one for Justice, Dj Mehdi and the rest of the Bangers crew, cut and paste disco meets nu rave meets Daft Punk and Outkast. Rounding off the ep is "Blind Concerto" a trippy electro disco tainted number that gets crazy on the synth arpeggios and effects.(ED016)NU RAVE- 6/11/07-FR

It also borrows a melody that sounds a lot like it was ripped from Blue Oyster Cult's "Reaper" HUGE!(RFLTD005)HOUSE- 6/07/07-FR

DER DRITTE RAUM

PLUTONIUM (HARTHOUSE) 12  - 104704

Long one of John Digweed's favourite producers, Andreas Kruger aka Der Dritte Raum delivers another essential release this time for Harthouse. 'Plutonium' is an out & out dancefloor BURNER, packing one of the funkiest DDR drum grooves we've ever heard along with a hypnotising synth hook and stripped-down bassline. Ditto 'Willi Muller' although this track sticks to the more groovier elements for an uninterrupted dancefloor ride. FRUCHTALARM *WIGHNOMY* (FARSIDE) 12  - 104727

Deep slow and sexy soulful house groover with delicious touches of techiness, beautiful atmospherics, deep effects and long playing head nodding, butt shaking locked on grooves. Robag Wruhme don's the Wighnomy monniker for the remix, a sweet Jazzanova meets Mr Scruff styled mix with dope key riffs, a bassline that sounds like it was lifted from St Germain (we think it was actually) a jazzy horn riff and great syncopated beats. Matt Flores finishes off the package with a dub of "City Rush Boogie", a deep dub house gem reminiscent of early Cross Traxx / Guidance material.(FAROTRS6)HOUSE- 6/11/07-GE

This guys stuff just keeps getting better and better! For his 3rd release for Kompakt sublabel K2, Mr Gatzigristos gets even MORE mental than previous with a thick bassline and all kinda of trippy things going on. But this has more drive than usual. Swinging jack trax from Montréal's Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts. "My Main Man" is a quirky, and quite funky percussive soulful house gem with Akufen styled cut and paste action featuring a heavenly vocal that sounds like it was lifted from an Etta James record while the beats get more and more syncopated until they're full on breaky house action in the back. Tres delicious!(HCF12)HOUSE- 6/11/07-GE

ELON

MOVIN IN *RITON* (MADE TO PLAY) 12  - 103173

SUPER FLU

SHE (TRAUM SCHALLPLATTEN) 12  - 104666

Newcommers Super Flu brings us what sounds to us like a jackin version of James Holden's remix of "The Sky Was Pink". I guess that makes it sound wack, but its really not. These tracks could easily have come out on BORDER COMMUNITY, and are neck and neck with anything thats already on that label. Really nice stuff, and can't wait to see whats next for these guys.(TRAUMV87)MINIMAL TECHNO- 6/04/07-GE

We haven't seen a production from Garth in quite some time and here Mr Grayhound delivers a Wicked (pun intended) mix of the Glimmers "Ape Or Not", we'll come to this in a second. The Glimmers "Freeform One" is a massive disco kissed rugged house number with loads of funky guitar, tripped out 80's funk action and a twisted vibe reminiscent of Chicken Lips. Now back to the Garth, his mix is as we punned before, wicked. It features metallic cracking snares and a dub meets breaks vibe that is pure west coast drug crazed party shit. One for the Wicked for sure.(DISKO6005)HOUSE- 6/04/07-BE

SUNSHINE SONG *JJK/ARNO COST* (CR2) 12  - 104603

Second set of UK-only remixes of Nicole's WMC anthem 'Sunshine Song', with John Julius Knight and Arno Cost delivering a pair of mixes each. Cost's first mix is a pumping electro house re-rub that smartly uses the original's female vocal hook to the best of its ability, over revamped synth lines, tricky, subtle effects, pumping electronic beats and a roof-raising buildup. Think Dave Spoon meets Mark Knight. The deeper house heads will love John Julius Knight's vocal and dub contributions, ideal for those more soulful floors.(12C2X026)ELECTRO HOUSE- 6/02/07-UK

TAMARAS WORLD

TRAMPOLINE *GERVAIS/AKABU* (ZEDD) 12  - 104588

Next up to be released on Z Records is a remix package of the classic Tamara's World track 'Trampoline'. The original continues to excite major demand and this remix package can only keep the track ever hot. The main remix comes from man ofof the moment Cedric Gervais who turns the track into a twisting meltdown of peak-time craziness Cedric has turned up the remix heat recently most notably on his re-works of Seamus Haji's 'Last Night A DJ Saved My Life' and 'Give Me Love' by Alcatraz. On the flip, JOEY NEGRO provides the remix from the original release taking the vocal on trip into a dark and seedy after-hours joint with devastating effect. Joey then don's the AKABU guise and turns the track into a more minimal spaced out trippy affair.(JUMP091)HOUSE- 6/11/07-UK

NY LON

WHEN YOU LOVE SOMEONE *LIFELIK (EYEZCREAM) 12  - 104673

NY Lon is the combination of talent from New York (Davidson Ospina) and London (Lewis Dene). The result is an epic vocal number with deep electronic roots. Katie Smith provides a riveting vocal on this and the track gets reworked by some heavy hitters including Defected's man of the moment Lifelike, Dj Dlg and Asle Bjorn. Lifelike's mix is an epic deep italo disco influenced number very much along the lines of his "Discopolis" hit with more of an 80's flair. Dj Dlg provides two mixes, more pumping and really working the strings to give the track a deep emotional appeal. Bjorn Asle's mix is pure rocking electro house funk with jacking beats, aggressive synth riffs and relentless energy. Getting heavy support from Kurd Maverick, Dj Dan and Fuzzy Hair.(ECR017)ELECTRO HOUSE- 6/11/07-FR

RAZ OHARA

WHITMEY NA  *GEIGER/NASS* (KINDISCH) 12  - 104769

Kindisch first expolded onto the scene with Jay Haze's now classic "Soul in a Bottle" and havent let up since! And, if you werent aware, they are the child label of GET PHYSICAL. This release is now the 7th release, and quite possibly the best one yet! The original is an almost beatless tune with a dreamy deep vocal. To remix it, the crew got Geiger (aka Nass) to do an absolutely GORGEOUS late night pure techno classic! The way the vocals are used on his mix are incredible. Sounds like he was going for an old FINGERS/OWENS kind of feel. DEEEEP pads and shimmering ride cymbals make this one magical in the late hours, and also great for open air. And, just in case you arent feeling the vocal, they kindly provided an instrumental of the Geiger remix as well.(KINDISCH07)HOUSE- 6/11/07-GE

The first sounds like, well a lot like "Rippin Kitten" with a similarly moody, melancholic and funky vibe. Plastique De Reve gets freaky on the mix on the flip adding a rocking acid edge to the track that is pure Adonis / Trax (well more like the acid mix of Sterling Void's "It's All Right" on Dj International but whatever right?).(BRD001)HOUSE- 6/04/07-FR
