LINDSTROM & PRINS THOMAS

NUMMER FIRE (ESKIMO) 12  - 104310

After 'Turkish Delight', 'Mighty Girl' and 'Boney M Down' the super hip Norweigian bearded disco duo return with another cosmic space ride looking to be as large as "I Feel Space" people. Holy crap this is next level future disco gear with deep funky percussion, trippy synth action, dirty acidic bass, melodies that have an eastern flair, beautiful string arrangements and a snaking, seemingly never ending groove that keeps asses shaking, heads nodding to the very end of this extra long 14 minute journey!(501725)DISCO- 5/29/07-BE

DJULZ

RUNNY *BERKSON/WHAT* (POKER FLAT) 12  - 104432

NUBLU ORCHESTRA

SCIUBBA DIVING *VONSTROKE* (NUBLU) 12  - 104311

Flip this one straight to the B and head for man of the year Claude Vonstroke's mix. Its something definitely deeper than we're used to hearing from Claude, but equally as cool as any of his other productions. His mix heads into Pepe Bradock land perfectly re-arranging the experimental and jazzy bits from the original into a sweet shuffling house bomb with killer upright bass, perfect use of the original horn riffs, big deep chords and choppy bits of the vocal freaked out nicely.(NUB12006)HOUSE- 5/29/07-FR

LEE DOUGLAS

NEW YORK STORY (RONG) 12  - 104446

More mind-melding outer space dub from Lee Douglas, returning once again on Rong on this import-only pressing. He's got two more spaced-out house excursions in his bag of tricks this time, led by the disco masterpiece 'New York Story' which sounds like an Italo-led epic sporting a monstrous walking bassline and cosmic synth progressions. On the flip is the cowbell-driven jam 'RAVM' with a steamer of a bassline and a crazy spooked-out break.(RONG020)ELECTRO DISCO- 5/29/07-UK

CHEMICAL BROTHERS

DAHLBACK & DAHLBACK

SWEDEN 10 CANADA 0 (TURBO) 12  - 104346

The cousins are back on Turbo, back with a vengeance!! Jesper & John bring an all-out dancefloor assault so get ready...'Bempa' sports an uber-squelchy synth riff and some crazy distortion effect applied to the kicks that makes sounds we've never dreamed of until now! 'Rolle Niva' is pure genius, combining sounds from 50's sci-fi movies alongside manic sweeps, jacking beats and some amazing sequencing. Unbelievable. The finisher is 'Tumba', rolling, jacking and pretty much annhilating, just like the two tracks before it. Tiga once again does a brilliant A&R'ing job with these two clever Swedes!(TURBO039)ELECTRO HOUSE- 5/21/07-GE

MARI BOINE

VUOI VUOI ME *HENRIK SCHWARZ* (UNIVERSAL) 12  - 100865

Mari Boine is a Norweigian singer with 8 albums under her belt. After meeting Henrik at one of her gigs he revealed that he had secretly done a mix of one of her tracks. She liked it so much she got the people at Universal her label to approve this release. Henrik's mix is an 11 minute epic masterpiece featuring Mari's sensual and mysterious vocals over a production that builds and builds with slick percussive loops and bass & synths that drop in and out in unison. There's also one killer percussive synth interlude that drifts off into outerspace. Big ups on this from Ame, Dixon and Dirk Rumpf.(1721216)HOUSE- 1/15/07-GE

BEN WESTBEECH

HANG AROUND *KARIZMA/WAHOO* (BROWNSWOOD) 12  - 102208

Karizma's mix of Ben Westbeech's "Hang Around" has a beautiful Amp Fiddler vibe with deep pushing key grooves, funky touches of percussion and classy drum production. Defected's Wahoo delivers a more sparse rub, more on the Sonar Kollektive tip pushing the vocals upfront in the mix and laying a deeper than deep Ame flavored groove behind. HOT!(BWOOD12)HOUSE- 5/29/07-UK

Southern Fried revisit Fatboy Slim's bonafide bomb "Magic Carpet Ride" with man of the year Claude Vonstroke providing a dirty twangy remix that drops all the disco of the original instead heading into filthy jacking house territory like only Claude can deliver. The Young Punx also deliver a skanking remix on the dub house meets ska tip.(ECB118)HOUSE- 5/29/07-UK

AARON CARL

SKY *OSUNLADE/T PARKER* (SUPERB) 12  - 104390

Osunlade delivers two outstanding deep soulful and quite electronic mixes of Aaron Carl's "Sky". His full vocal mix is genius, the kind of tune you can listen to over and over (which we have) and never get tired of. It features deep analog bass, warm chords, cool bits of electronics  and a definite nod to the whole German deep house sound ie Ame / Innervisions / Sonar Kollektiv. The dub is just as delicious! Terrence Parker drops two mixes of his own, a vocal and instrumental that has a more straight up NY deep house sound.(SUPERB004)HOUSE- 5/29/07-FR

D RAMIREZ & D BOBROV

PLEASURE ME (SLAVE) 12  - 104399

Russian producer Dimitry Bobrov teams up with D Ramirez to bring you this monster production. Once again we get treated to their trademark big, dirty bass, building tension throughout and Bobrov's sleazy vocals which make this tune an instant Miami/NYC club smash. On the flip the Four:Twenty label's Liam Sullivan turns the original into a deep, brooding underground techno smasher, definitely one for the heads.(SLAVE012)ELECTRO HOUSE- 5/29/07-UK

ANDOMAT3000 & JAN

L DELAY (CADENZA) 12  - 104409

Hold on to your hats and get prepared for a new Cadenza! This one comes to us from Andomat3000 & Jan, who were also featured on a split 12" on Cadenza 9 months or so ago. The sound is more towards organic and deep house overall, but with some very twisted elements involved. Somewhat klangy, all dirty and nasty though. Dubbed out elements throughout, making the cuts very ominous. Really, really awesome stuff. We really hope these guys continue with this sound, because they truly stand out in the best ways.(CADENZA15)HOUSE- 5/28/07-GE

DONT GIVE UP *C CRAIG* (RUBADUB) 12  - 103918

Carl Crtaig steps up and does it again with another amazing remix, this time for ex-Sugarbabes vocalist Siobhan Donaghy. Don't be fooled by the 'ex'Sugarbabes'part; this girl has got a fine vocal delivery that Carl goes to work on, editing the vocal nicely alongside some pitch-bent stabs, think bass chord hits and pulsing 4/4 percussion. The man is a master and he shows you why once again!(12RDJSX672)TECH HOUSE- 5/21/07-UK

STYLOPHONIC

DANCEFLOOR *TOCADISCO* (SUPERSTAR) 12  - 103275

Tocadisco's remix of 'Dancefloor' is an absolute SCORCHER!! A devastating electro house beat rolls out over top of a fat disco bassline, whispered female vocal sample and then a huge lead synth drop that jacks the energy way past the maximum! There's much more still to come thanks to mixes by Cooper & Cruchot plus album and electro mixes.(SUPER3086)ELECTRO HOUSE- 5/24/07-GE

VOOM VOOM

REMIXES *C WEBSTER/M WORGULL* (G STONE) 12  - 103280

Remixes from Charles Webster are few and far between so when we're treated to one, we're always excited because Charles ALWAYS provides the goods! Here he drops both a vocal version and dub of "Best Friend" giving it a super deep and soulful Dj Pierre / Carl Craig vibe that hits the spot. Marcus Worgull reworks "Sao Verought" in a deep electronic soulful way that should definitely please fans of Sonar Kollektiv / Compost / Innervisions.(GSMX1033)HOUSE- 4/16/07-AU

DIGITALISM

POGO (KITSUNE) 12  - 103529

Digitalism might just be the hottest artist in the electronic / dance music field right now and this release on Virgin will no doubt cement his reputation for delivering raw and powerful productions. "Pogo" comes in four mixes the first "Mentalism" mix is pure rocking Daft Punk action with a searing synth hook. The "On The Road To Paris" version adds a deeper vibe fitting more into work Digitalism has knocked out for Kitsune. There's also a radio edit and a Shinichi Osawa reworking that has a great indie dance feel along the lines of the Killers.(KITSUNE53)HOUSE- 5/29/07-FR

SURKIN

FIREWORKS REFRIED *RIOT IN BEL (INSTITUBES) 12  - 103561

Radio Fireworks topped Justice's "Best of 2006" list and remix offers for it came in droves from the likes of Klaxons, Boys Noize, Dj Mehdi, Paul Johnson and Justice himself. Remixes on the record straddle a couple of boundaries between dance scenes. Surkin delivers a new and improved version of future house classic 'Radio Firewoks'—punchier, fattened with generous helpings of white noise—and a newish track, 'Kiss ‘n' Horns', which turns lover's lane anthem 'Kiss And Fly' into a jacking house monster, complete with horn breakdown. Institubes O.G. Tacteel beams us back to the golden age of filtered house with sun-kissed vocals and plane sound effects, while Dance Mania Don DJ Slugo (himself!) turns 'And You Too'into a ghetto house party starter which launches into full Juke mode after the breakdown. AND: Aussies Riot In Belgium deliver a MASSIVE, shockingly effective, big room remix of 'Radio Fireworks', with the build-up to end all build-ups. M(INS12018)HOUSE- 5/29/07-FR

FUNK D'VOID

LOVIN *HIPP E* (SOMA) 12  - 104220

Lars Sandberg makes a welcome return with his first solo release in three years under the Funk D'Void moniker. Since 2004's immense 'Volume Freak' album Lars has been busy collaborating with Phil Kieran delivering a number of 12" releases to rapturous response as well as serving fantastic cuts under his Francois Dubois guise on Urbantorque. Throughout all this he has been continuously gigging across the world even fitting in the odd remix for Kevin Saunderson and New Order among others. Having finally found enough time to sit down and start work on his new album, Funk D'Void delivers a taster of things to come in 'Lovin', complete with a spanking mix from Hipp-e. The original mix is an inspiring summery groove soaked in classic house vibes, with sublime vocals and hypnotizing early morning locked on vibes. Hipp-e's mix is a more driving force very much on the Peace Division tip.(SOMA213)HOUSE- 5/29/07-UK

With the release of 'RYMD' Eric kicks it up a notch further, delivering two wicked club thumpers. The title track starts with a cool drum intro in to a big kickdrum drop, cool synths and fat punchy basslines until an intense siren sound powers up and smashes everything around it! Road tested by John Digweed and Nic Fanciulli where its gotten amazing reactions everywhere. BLOOD ON MY *VILLALOBOS* (SKULL DISCO) 12  - 103845

HUGE RELEASE on the UK dubstep label Skull Disco, featured in both the House and Dubstep/DnB sections this week thanks in part to the wicked Ricardo Villalobos remix on board this bad bwoy!! Villalobos 'Apocalypso Now' mix completely dismantles the original, turning it into an 18 minute epic that blurs the line between dubstep and minimal- absolute belter!! MARK BROOM & MIHALIS SAFRAS

MASTER & STUDENT (CUSP) 12  - 104219

The 'master' Mark Broom teams up with the 'student', Mihalis Safras, and together they bring you one of the coolest things in minimal techno that we've heard so far this year. Safras' remix of Broom's track 'Come Down' is a slinky, bass-fueled roller with gently clanking sounds, ticking hats and pumped percussion as Perlon smoothness meets some Poker Flat punch. On the flip Safras' original track 'Congie' is a straight-up 4/4 burner for those that like their minimal techno on the sizzling side of things. Exceptional!!(CUSP001)MINIMAL TECHNO- 5/24/07-GE

DEETRON FT DJ BONE

LIFE SOUNDTRACK *RADIO SLAVE* (MUSIC MAN) 12  - 104314

Third single lifted from Deetron's well received debut album, "Twisted". The album mix was a huge hit for the likes of Dave Clarke, Carl Cox, Adam Beyer and Oliver Ho among others and here we have two monster reworks from Deetron and Radio Slave. Deetron is first up with a dark techy rub that beefs up the main synth line and adds nasty effects to create one huge dark driving force. Radio Slave turns in an epic Holden-esque 11 minute psychotic journey that will have you hiding under your covers its so dark & scary. Holy shit this mix is wicked!(MM133)ELECTRO HOUSE- 5/29/07-BE

TUCKER BARBARA

BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE (STRICTLY RHYTHM) 12  - 104384

EXERCISE ONE

DARK STAR (MOBILEE) 12  - 104431

MINILOGUE

INCA EP (WIR) 12  - 104434

This new one from Minilogue has got instant classic written all over it. Maybe because most of its influence is taken from an already classic in it's own right? Not sure. All we know is that if we were to be in a mid-nineties late night SWEATBOX of a party, this would be what we would want to hear! "Inca" is a slow building minimal acid jam that takes major influence from the classic "ACID EIFEL" by Choice, off of Transmat sublabel Fragile Records. Its got a neo-trance feel to it, but then again, so did Acid Eifel! The difference here is that as it builds, it gets more and more twisted with detuned stabs that are sure to think youre about to lose control. This WILL be one of the bigger records this summer, just so you know. Oh, and the flipside is good too.(WIR009)MINIMAL TECHNO- 5/29/07-GE

TRICK & KUBIC

BELIEVE (GREAT STUFF) 12  - 104457

After a long break in the studio Trick & Kubic come all the way back with this anthemic electro jam! Whispered vocals and a squelchy lead riff set the main cut 'Believe' off to a great start, getting better and better thanks to twisted synth riffs and more intense vocals. The flipside track 'Container' works a manic slap bass guitar line and freaky synths over a driving electronic beat. Two amazing sides to choose from!(GSR046)ELECTRO HOUSE- 5/29/07-GE

In a Soulfuric vein but better. Percussive stripped down DJ friendly "Luv Bug Dub" also included on the A-side. Close with DJ MFR & Vincent Kwok's "New Mondo Buzz Dub" with an even harder edge, faster tempo, isolating that familiar guitar lick and totally rearranging the track. Those vocals are really what drive the track no matter which excellent mix you chose.(TSP033)HOUSE- 5/24/07-US

KELLY POLAR

CHRYSANTHEMUM EP w/MORGAN GEIS (ENVIRON) 12  - 103473

Chrysanthemum is pure pop with a decidely dark and unique  approach, catchy and indelible once heard. Mr Polar describes it himself as a confluence of the apocalyptic fear that pemeated all Cold War childhoods, comic-book illustrations of blood and violence abstracted into flora and a B-grade science fiction novel's portraying two teens in the final throesof lovemaking as a world is destroyed in nuclear apocalypse. The B-side's "Rosenband" is lighter in subject matter yet just as deep musically, filled with synthetic layers and rhythms that reveal themselves slowly on subsequent listens. Despite the immediacy of the melodies, there is a detail that permeates all of Kelly Polar's work and rewards the attentive listener. A completely reworked instrumental version of "Rosenband" is stretched across the B-side and is, dare we say, a dancefloor killer, with a long, mix friendly intro building to an incredible crescendo. The track is arranged and mixed by Morgan Geist and was done so with DJs in mind.(ENV028)HOUSE- 5/23/07-US

Next up is the rousing classic sound of "Solitude" with DJ Deep and FranckRoger featuring Panyard. Straight head tempo with a church feeling organ sound and soaring vocal. Flip for Kenny Carvajal & Oliver Portal with "Je't'dore". Rubbery bassline, beautigul deep retro synth sound with a jazz edge that shines throughout the track. Kicking off is "Make You Move" a pure funk bomb, complete with stellar piano and horn loops and those trademarked Bryan Jones drums that never fail. The original has an electronic edge combining old school funk elements with new school synth textures and melodies all backed up by some tough and dirty bumpin' house beats. Second mix on the A-side is by Simon Grey, he flips the script and takes us on a ride into old school disco inspired territory with an impressive musical styling that showcases his unique and complex arrangements and change ups. Flip for Miguel's "Migs Salted Dub Deluxe" mix with ample amounts of dance floor pressure and funk appeal. Staying close to the same vibe and flavor of the original while using minimal vocal elements leaving the main focus on the dirty groove. To close we have a take by Scott Wozniak deliviering a straight up NYC style deep house affair. A bouncing bass line bumps on top of some crisp and tight Wozniak beats while a bubbly organ key progression sets the tone and sits nicely underneath the vocal all together maintaining a steady groove andkeeping the energy moving. Imagine Flash Gordon beefed up for 2007 and you have a healthy start of where this track is getting. Next up a familiar vocal sample provides the backbone for the title track 'Congo' with clever percussion, running beats, disgustingly dirty bassline pressure and random bush samples. A geniunely great piece of dancefloor drum and bass. Continuing the theme of painting pictures with his music, Phetsta then drops 'Bloodening' The VIP comes with a wall of sound, twinkling keys and a fierce punch. Again Phetsta sounds like he's providing the score for a rock opera while mashing together fat bass and crystal clear drums. Finally 'Dutty Funk' showcases another side of Phetsta as he goes into disco mode with collaborator Muller. The pace is set by the disco loop, female vox and wicked strings with a bassline taking the track into neuro funk territory.(TECH039)DRUM & BASS- 5/10/07-UK
