BROWN & FRANDANSKI VS ORIGAMI

CROSS THE POND (DROP MUSIC) 12  - 102814

SYNTAX EXCLUSIVE! The Inland Knights Drop Music imprint serves up another fine slice of house funk courtesy of Brown (Myna/Drop Music/Aroma) Frandanski & Origami. "Switched On" the A1 is a bumping slice of house funk very much on the Inland Knights tip with a male vocal that has a similar vibe as Gwen Stefani's "Holla Back", very hip shit! "Not The Only One" is next up on the A and has a more funk fuelled vibe with a slick funk bassline, dope shuffling beats and a real cool vocal too. Rounding off the ep is "My Baby's Ass" another shaking funky house number based around some great old school soul / funk samples and a bit of disco action.(DRM052)HOUSE- 5/07/07-UK

BRYAN JONES & SCUD BLOOM

DUTCHMASTERS (FARRIS WHEEL) 12  - 103882

SYNTAX EXCLUSIVE! After a HUGE outing on the Aroma imprint the dynamic duo of Bryan Jones & Scud Bloom return to re-inaugurate Gene Farris' Farris Wheel imprint. The a side's first cut is by far the funkiest of the ep and quite possibly the funkiest shit we've heard from either of these fantastic producers. It features a breaky house vibe, broken vocal samples that build the track into a frenzy, tough beats that switch up to breaks and back. This mix is a big tune for Dave Taylor right now. Next up "Westside Bump" has a funky Inland Knights vibe with big bumping bass, nice bits of jazzy instrumentation and bouncy synth riffs. "Loungin" on the flip goes down a Da Sunlounge route and rounding off the ep is "Down Like That" a bumping Chi Town killer.(FWR015)HOUSE- 5/07/07-FR

BLACK DEVIL DISCO/IN FLAGRANTI

RIDE AGAIN (LOEB) 12  - 103138

Black Devil return with his   sinister, psychedelic analogue synth sound which recalls both Joy Division and Giorgio Moroder. The way Stonebridge layers the vocals during the chorus is pure genius and their use of entrancing pads keep this one deep yet booming! The original mix of "Hiph" is a deep dirty grungy German house anthem sounding like a mixture of Mos Ferry matreial and Isolee gear. Olav Basoski steps in to inject this track with peak time dancefloor power, adding a slick and quite deep electro vibe with nasty synth riffs, blasts and pushing beats.(EXEC76)HOUSE- 5/07/07-UK

DAVE LEE

LATRONICA (ZEDD) 12  - 104003

Dave Lee's latest excursion of Zedd delivers a prime-time slice of ever building electronic percussive noises with a big & rousing housey Latino style riff, which is already drawing comparisons to Pete Heller's 'Big Love', flip over for Timmmy Vegas' deep & dubbed out take on Sessomatto's 'Movin' On', here Timmy goes for Mr Fingers style chords and limits the vocals to just the chorus hook, the result is a deep and moody rework.(ZEDD12090)HOUSE- 5/07/07-UK

SHUT THE FUCK UP

SHUT THE FUCK UP (ROYAL FLUSH) 12  - 104009

Big offensive diva-esque vocals collide with a cranking electro house production on this funky offering from the Royal Flush camp. Already tried and tested by the like of Clamaran, David Guetta and Robbie Rivera this ep features four mixes that scream "Shut The Fuck Up" and beg for peak hour programming.(RF066)ELECTRO HOUSE- 5/07/07-FR

ROMAN CURTIS

MEMORIES *BROWN SUGAR* (ROYAL FLUSH SPECI) 12  - 104011

Hot new tune from one of France's up & coming artists Roman Curtis. 'Memories' is a slick electro house builder done in a Get Physical meets David Guetta stylee, with a distinctive pitch-bent synth riff, hooky bassline and chunky 4/4 groove. The remix comes from another Frenchman, Brown Sugar, with a chunkier, thumpier affair for the Prydz/Angello crew. LICENSED from the Spinnin imprint.(RFSP040)HOUSE- 5/07/07-FR

APENDICS SHUFFLE & STAVOSTRAND

TAKE ME HIGHER *TEJADA* (ADJUNCT) 12  - 104019

3 of the most reliable names in minimal techno join forces for this EP. Apendics Shuffle (aka Kenneth James Gibson) & Mikael Staovstrand bring us "Take You Higher", a mindbending minimal-synth twister. They also enlisted the legendary John Tejada to give it his special touch, which in this case amounts it to a super groovy minimal jam geared directly for the dancefloor.(ADJUNCT14)MINIMAL TECHNO- 5/07/07-GE

FRIVOLOUS / FRIENDLY PEOPLE

RUDIOS Y FRECUENCIAS *A UNDER* (APNEA) 12  - 104020

Damian Schwartz released "Rudios Y Frecuencias vol 1" a while back and it was a huge success. So, the good folks over at Apnea found it to be an appropriate candidate for a remix package. The first one on this comes from Freindly People (Alex Under's guise for his more darker projects), and the result is an extremely hypnotic piece without any real kickdrum. Perfect for an opener or REALLY freaking people out at the afterhours. On the flip, Frivolous adds his wacked out funk to the package, making it a peak hour minimal house stormer!(APNEA14)MINIMAL HOUSE- 5/07/07-GE

BEYONCE & SHAKIRA

BEAUTIFUL LIAR *FREEMASONS* (RCA) 12  - 104036

SPLIT 5

BLOODY MARY / YAPACC (SENDER) 12  - 104038

Sender does it AGAIN! This one is the best in the series of Splits that they have done. This time they get the Bloody Mary to give it a go, along with Yapacc (aka Narcotic Syntax). The Bloody Mary cut is deep and bassy with a hidden funk that will drive the minimal lovers crazy! Yapacc gets even darker on the flip for some real late night headfuckery.(SENDER067)MINIMAL TECHNO- 5/07/07-GE

JURGEN PAAPE

NORD NORD-WEST (KOMPAKT) 12  - 103743

Jergen Paape heads up another proper EP for Kompakt. The lead cut is a dark one. Excellent hypnotic bass sounds with really nice FX washes here and there. Just a simple late night groover thats sure to get the attention it deserves when being played. Following that, its a bit more dirty and gritty. For the B-side things get blissed out and operatic.(KOMPAKT156)MINIMAL TECHNO- 4/30/07-GE

QUENUM / DACHSHUND

PARADOX (PLATZHIRSCH) 12  - 103747

Quenum & Dachshund team up for a stellar 2 tracker for the Platzhirsch label. Kind of different for Platzhirsch, but I think if anyone were presented with these 2 tracks, they would pick them up based on how great they are. The a side is a drummy 4/4 thing thats strictly dancefloor. This little flangy thing going on in the track is what gives it most of its funk. On the B-side, it gets mental but still dancefloor oriented. On the slightly broken beat tip with this reverberated vocal thing going on throughout. A sure fire winner here, minimal folks!(PATZ011)MINIMAL TECHNO- 4/30/07-GE

MORPHOSIS

GODS OF PHOENICIA (MORPHINE) 12  - 103772

The Morphine imprint is as red hot as both tracks encased on this very cool record. "Baal" on the a is a dark and brooding number with haunting atmospherics, dirty analog synths, slick minimal shuffling beats and dope bits of percussion. "Anat" on the flip has a massive Minus / Troy Pierce vibe with laser guided synth blasts, trippy plucking percussion playing tripelets, dope driving beats and cool storm sounds. LATE ARRIVAL DUE TO A SHIPPING DELAY, NOW IN STOCK!(DOSER003)HOUSE- 4/30/07-NL

LINDSTROM & SOLALE

LETS PRACTISE (FEEDELITY) 12  - 102434

Lindstrom & Solale first cooperated in 2003 with "Music (In My Mind), the debut kicker on Feedelity. They've joined forces again and are putting the finishing touches on a full length and this is the teaser for that album. "Let's Practise" is a burning slow sexy italo disco stomper with fat arpeggio bass and some simple infectious guitar & keys spicing up the sexy grooves nicely. There's just a hint of a vocal in there as well to pick up the energy in all the right places. On the flip is a mysterious dub from an unknown source, if we had to bet we'd say it's either Todd Terje or Brennan Green. Way cool gear as always on Feedelity.. Check the artwork too, it's trippy and also very cool shit.(FEED009)DISCO- 4/30/07-FR

VAI *DEEP JOSH* (SOULFURIC TRAX) 12  - 103868

You've seen Dj Meme's productions on the likes of Fluential, Knee Deep and also licensed to Defected and Defected's In The House. Here for Soulfuric Trax Meme strikes gold with "V.A.I", a track that has beats reminiscent of Dj Gregory's "Tropical Soundclash" and grooves that are pure party carnival action. Deep Josh provides a deeper mix that adds a wicked analog bumpin bassline while the Stereo Mutants add a jazzy electronic vibe that is pure genius. The beats mix is wicked as well.(SFT0043)HOUSE- 5/07/07-FR

OLGA KOUKLAKI

GET A LIFE *BLACKSTROBE/VOLGA* (PIAS) 12  - 103902

After collaborating with Joakim (on Poni Hoax 'Budapest EP') and with Avril (on his 'Members Only' album), this Greek born dj releases the first 12" from her debut album. The lords of dark sinister electro, Blackstrobe were enlisted for remix duties and they turn in a menacing electroid monster with pounding beats and huge synth grooves. Second remix is by Tigersushi's Volga Select, which is Marc Collin (Nouvelle Vague) and Arnaud Rebotini (1/2 Blackstrobe), who head with their remix in a different direction: a meticulously crafted electronic song with subtle sound design and beautiful minimal arrangements.(7330007130)ELECTRO HOUSE- 5/07/07-BE

Raw, minimal techno at its finest. And boy is this EP jackin! Every cut on it is white hot! First up on the remix front is Boogie Drama (Was Not Was/Mood Music) who turn in a shaking mix which fattens up the bassline into Oizo territory, beefs up the beats and pushs the tune into more peak time territory. On the flip the brothers Chatelain, Nick & Danny (Ovum/NRK/Maya) turn in a mind blowing deep acidic mix with killer stabs, trippy synth riffs, nasty effects and a hynotic yet pumping vibe. Both cuts on this ep are stellar, not obvious boring minimal shit but well executed bigger than big room gear that begs for massive soundsystems!(CURLE003)MINIMAL TECHNO- 5/07/07-BE

ROCKITMEN

PREMIERE (GEMINI) 12  - 103907

This is one of those records we hope you're paying attention to, it's on a relatively new label, Gemini (their first release a few months back was from Extrawelt & Midimili and was sonic perfection) and it's from a relatively new artist, Rockitmen. This is one of those records where the music speaks for itself, not the artist, label or remixer. This ep features two smoking hot not so minimal techno bombs that must bea heard!(GEM002)MINIMAL TECHNO- 5/07/07-BE

KAMA & MC GREGOR

LEVEL UP *DAMON JEE & O GIACOM (PUMPZ) 12  - 104010

Following their massive release on Electrochoc Kama & MC Gregor return with the anthem "Level Up". Their original mix is a powerful and quite infectious electro house groover with bouncey synth grooves, shuffling beats and a wickedly hooky dancing synth riff that plays nicely against the main electro synth hook. Damon Jee & Olivier Giacomotto shred this one to pieces on their remix giving it a rocking Axwell / Prydz epic and uplifting peak time vibe.(PUMPZ003)HOUSE- 5/07/07-FR

NEW WORLD AQUARIUM

HEAVY METAL (PEACEFROG) 12  - 56909

In true Peacefrog style New World Aquarium are an outfit already way ahead of their time, fusing classic techno roots with soul, disco and downtempo sensibilities using the most uncompromising production techniques. This release is similar to their brilliant outings on the Delsin label and is a delicious taster of things to come from their album dropping soon. BACK IN STOCK!(PFG034)TECHNO- 2/19/03-UK

DOM NAVARRA FT ANTONIO

A THOUSAND WORDS (STALWART) 12  - 103660

Delicious deep house vocal here complete with remixes from Buzzin Fly's Dj Rocco (Rodamaal) and H&H Soulsurvivors. Definitely one for the John Julius Knight / Soulfuric crowd.(STAL007)HOUSE- 4/30/07-FR

GET LOST 02

V/A SAMPLER *PLASMIK/J JONES* (CROSSTOWN R) 12  - 103676

Two track vinyl sampler from Jamie Jones' 'Get Lost 2' compilation, an awesome mix of cutting edge house and techno exclusive to this release. Jamie's own 'Panama City' is a deep, melodic techno-influenced track with cranked resonance knobs tweaking the synths throughout. Plasmik's 'Pearls On A String' follows his recent Connaisseur release in a similiar reduced dub house style.(CRMLOST002)TECH HOUSE- 4/30/07-UK

GUS GUS

HOLD YOU *MOONBOOTICA/NAMITO* (PINEAPPLE) 12  - 103731

Beautiful vocal track from Gus Gus' album with vocalist Earth adding a sassy R&B/soul vibe to the signature crisp electro house instrumentation and retro vibes. Two amazing remixes add to the fun courtesy of Moonbootica and Namito % Diringer, very much in the Great Stuff vein.(PINE005)ELECTRO HOUSE- 4/30/07-GE

HARLEM

CAT SCRATCH (RISKY DAZZLE) 12  - 103733

'Cat Scratch' comes right at you with claws fully extended! This squeaky electro burner has already shown up in the sets of Tiga, Munk and Punks Jump Up and definitely suits the Turbo/Kitsune mode with its ravey, glitchy synth stabs, fat bass stabs and pumped electronic beats.(RISK004)ELECTRO HOUSE- 4/30/07-GE

KADABOSTAN

CARACAS SOUL EP (FREUDE AM TANZEN) 12  - 103741

Newcomer from Switzerland paying tribut to the Caracas. But it's not all latiny with salsa and what have you. More in the Techno side of things.(FAT032)MINIMAL TECHNO- 4/30/07-GE

DACHSHUND

EFT EP (NUM) 12  - 103745

Dachshund burst out onto the scene a few months ago with a couple EPs that seemed to blow everyone away. He's on a roll again (2 releases this week), and this one is on Num again. The A-side is like a mixture of Ryan Crosson and Sean "Someone Else" O'neil. Flipping it over, we find a darker aspect that lies somewhere between Konrad Black and Mathew Jonson.(NUM17)MINIMAL TECHNO- 4/30/07-GE

HERBERT BOESE

WALKIN (WAS KIDS) 12  - 103756

Herbert Boese serves up some old school sounding electro house for the label WAS Kids. Gritty, borderline acidic, and prime for peak hours of the night.(WK010)TECH HOUSE- 4/30/07-GE

ORESTT

HOMIES (EVERLAST) 12  - 103850

Carl Craig love Orestt's last production "Steppin" as it sounded much like that of his own. Here once again, Orestt drops the nasty dirty slow sleazy techy funk that is sure to please Mr Craig again.(EVRLST01)HOUSE- 5/07/07-FR

VLADIMIR F/RUTCHOV S

CLITCRACKIN HOUSESOUNDS (TEENS) 10  - 103991

Hell, even if Carl Cox wasn't hammering this release we'd still bring it in for the racy Teens cover....Rutchov & Vladimir drop 6 jackin' tech house edits for the clubs- raw and funky shit!(TEEN009)TECH HOUSE- 5/07/07-NL

RICSTA

TAKING OVER (STIRFRIED) 12  - 104017

Simmering on the a side is funky house with hints of twisted disco and indie sounding a lot like Underworld material. It has been receiving much support from Calvin Harris, Tom Neville and Mark Knight.(FRIED002)HOUSE- 5/07/07-UK

EFDEMIN

UNTITLED LP (DIAL) 12  - 104023
