INLAND KNIGHTS

WHATS YOUR FLAVOR (FLAVOR) 12  - 102620

Now this is a pretty special package that we should probably let the music speak for itself. Mr Shrewd has collected together some of the house music finest producers for one EP, Inland Knights and Jay West on the same EP? Very exciting stuff we say. Inland Knights provide a standout cut that is every bit as hot as any of their Drop Music releases. Jay West drops a killer too, pure bumping house business. Also on this ep are tracks from Groove Federation (Greenhouse) and Tovar.(FR005)HOUSE- 4/09/07-UK

SWIRL PEOPLE

SWIRL IT UP SAMPLER PT 1 (AROMA) 12  - 101265

First of two tasty samplers by the notoriously funky Belgian house boys, the Swirl People. The opening track tells all, a pumping party jam entitled "The Greatest Time" which takes the Swirl sound to an all new high. It features a slick vocal hook, funked up bassline with a slick synth playing a similar riff, great shuffling beats and funky bits of percussion and guitars. "Ride The Pony" is up next and has a slightly deeper edge and again takes the Swirl sound up a level with deep stabs, off the wall sound effects including some whining horses. The bassline on this sucker is as funky as they come and the beats are quite bumping. Flip over for the jazzy bass heavy "Hot 'N' Stuffy" which is another hit for the floor with those trippy disco effects. "Luscious" is what Swirl deep house will be all about in 2007. HUGE(AROMA051)HOUSE- 4/02/07-BE

SWIRL PEOPLE

SWIRL IT UP SAMPLER PT 2 (AROMA) 12  - 101266

Part 2 of the "Swirl It Up" album sampler features three more fantastic bumping house gems from the funky Belgian house boys. The title track for the album is first up and what a tune it is! Pure party house that sounds like a mixture of patent Swirl People gear and some Inland Knights action thrown in as well. "To The Restaurant" is next up and features a menacing bassline, freaked out pads, shuffling beats and a lesson in Spanish riding over the party grooves. "Like To Boogie" finishes off the sampler in fine style with more party boogie basslines, deep chord stabs and beefy beats.(AROMA052)HOUSE- 4/02/07-BE

CURE VS UNKNOWN

CURED (WHITE) 12  - 103170

SYNTAX EXCLUSIVE!! The well-known yet working undercover producers who brought you the mega-selling Pink Floyd vs Unknown a few months back return with another incredible workup. this time out they given a wicked minimal/tech house rework to The Cure's 'Fascination Street' that works, dare we say, even better than the Floyd!!(CURED001)MINIMAL HOUSE- 4/09/07-GE

NATURAL RHYTHM

MUMBLE MOUTH (DOTBLEEP) 12  - 103144

Justin Long's Dotbleep label keeps on the hot streak in a BIG way with this killer release from Natural Rhythm. Already getting canings from Heather, Derrick Carter and Swag, 'Mumble Mouth' and the flipside tracks 'Subway System' and 'Go Chica Go' are just what you'd expect from NR; twisted beat tracks dripping with lots of funk, jackin' Chi-town beats and raucous bassline pressure.(DBR016)HOUSE- 4/09/07-UK

PEPE BRADOCK

RHAPSODY IN PAIN (ATAVISME) 12  - 103166

At long long last, the original French master of deepness returns with "Rhapsody in Pain". A couple different mixes here. On the live version, its a spooky one with a light kick and lots of screaming. Definitely a very mental track designed for playing at just the right time. On the flip is the "Bonus Beat", which is a total drum workout with a very thick underkick with some really great light percussion. Throw in a couple build ups based around some gritty stabs and youve got yourself a jam! Also included is an accapella from the A-side, just in case your really want to freak some people out.Pepe's return is a very welcome one. Always one to raise the bar a bit for house music, and this one is right on point.(ATA007)HOUSE- 4/09/07-GE

ARIL BRIKHA

AKIRE (POKER FLAT) 12  - 103174

Following the massive success of his last outing for Kompakt, Sweden's Aril Brikha comes even stronger for an absolutely solid release for Steve Bug's Poker Flat imprint. The lead cut is a long drawn out and SUPER deep techno cut with Detroity bits all around, and rounded off with an infectuous bassline that keeps you wanting more and more. Things get dirty  on the B-side. The bassline is borderline industrial, but the sounds are all still deep. Definitely a good one for those sets crossing from house to techno. And finally, a semi shuffly cut more similar to the stuff from his Winter EP. With 2 recent and very strong EP's from Aril, one can only hope there is more on the way.(PFR80)HOUSE- 4/09/07-GE

JAY TRIPWIRE

RETURN TO ROOTS EP (LOST MY DOG) 12  - 103141

Tripwire takes it deep and bumpy here on Lost My Dog with this dope 3 tracker. The dancefloor rocker 'Harmony & Peace' offers up butt-shaking chords, stabs and beats along with well-placed spoken word vocals and strong hooks. 'Brothers & Sisters' again goes the spoken word route for the main hook while super snappy beats bounce and roll underneath. The finishing touch is 'Navajo Soul', showcasing a deeper side to Jay's sound.(LMD014)HOUSE- 4/09/07-UK

TRACKHEADZ

HIS KINGDOM/KOMPAKT (FREERANGE) 12  - 103145

Strong outing from Trackheadz {Nick Holder and Kaje} here on Freerange. His Kingdom is classic 'Headz stuff, simple and well produced house music with catchy as hell hooks. Serious play from both Jimpster and Osunlade on this mix. Next up is an instrumental version of the track, iced nicely by Kompakt, a rolling freaky track using mental filter stuff and oddball sounds to keep the dancefloor wobbly- big with Ralph Lawson at the moment.(FR087)HOUSE- 4/09/07-UK

ELON

MOVIN IN *RITON* (MADE TO PLAY) 12  - 103173

New York based Elon delivers his very first high profile release for Jesse Rose's Made to Play Recordings. "Movin In" is a bleepy and punchy tune with a lots of nice editing and FX thrown from every angle. Keep your eyes on this guy. Weve heard alot of his stuff thats coming over the next year, and most of it is mind blowing! On the flip, Riton does his thing and makes the original a peak hour, blissed out monster. This one should be pretty huge.(MTP006)HOUSE- 4/09/07-GE

P DIDDY / BASEMENT JAXX

TELL ME/HERES THE SPOT *SWITCH (WHITE) 12  - 103214

HOT ONE HERE! Two bad ass mixes coming from the Fidget house master, Switch. First up is P Diddy & Christina Aguilera's "Tell Me" torn to shreds by Switch and on the flip Basement Jaxx's "Here's The Spot" receives an equally devistating rerub.(SPOT001)HOUSE- 4/09/07-UK

MOWGLY

SOLAR SYSTEM *DOMU* (FREERANGE) 12  - 98374

Mowgly follows recent collaborations and remixes with the likes of Tony Allen, Ron Trent and Bugz In The Attic with the brilliant 'Solar System', a chunky techno-influenced slice of ethereal house pressure that sounds like the bastard love child of Carl Craig and Sun Ra. Off kilter rim shots and lush strings share the stage with chunky beats. Domu follows up with a tearing mashup consisting of filthy beats, Detroit stabs and relentless sub bass with a subtle touch of distortion. More exceptional house music from the mighty Freerange. BACK IN STOCK!!(FR078)HOUSE-10/09/06-UK

BOB SINCLAR

GIVE A LITTLE LOVE *HARLEM HUS (D VISION) 12  - 102631

Taken from Bob's incredible "Western Dream" full length, "Give A Little Love" gets a wicked treatment here from the Harlem Hustlers who give it even more of that hands in the air summer vibe really working the vocal to create dancefloor pandemonium. On the flip is a more discofied mix with big fat bass and more of that hands in the air outdoor summer anthem thing going on! FULL STOCKS!(DV495)HOUSE- 3/22/07-IT

PHONIQUE

JOHN *MR V & W RODRIGUEZ* (DESSOUS) 12  - 102689

Phonique returns from a few excursions on Systematic, Souvenir, Renaissance and Fine back home on Dessous with his fresh new joint "John". This cut will only be included as a bonus track on the CD for his second album for Dessous and will not find any other release on vinyl. It is a classic deep house gem with beautiful pushing chords and a cool little classy build up. Sole Channel's Mr V aka Victor Font teams up with William "Reel Soul" Rodriguez for a remix on the flip which adds a spaced out keyboard solo and a bit more dancefloor punch.(DES68)HOUSE- 3/26/07-GE

MARK KNIGHT & DAVE SPOON

SYLO EP (TOOLROOM TRAX) 12  - 103149

Old school Chicago acid house meets modern electro house on this serious danceflor jacker from Mark Knight and Dave Spoon. The main 'drug music' vocal hook is an absolute winner, linked to some dirty acid stabs and massive rolling snare build- can't miss material! Sylo is another fat electro track whilst Spoon also delivers a cut called Background Noise.(TRT26)ELECTRO HOUSE- 4/09/07-UK

REINHARD VOIGT

CHARGE YOUR DREAMS (KOMPAKT) 12  - 103182

All has been relatively quiet from Reinhard Voigt lately. ut he returns to Kompakt with Charge Your Dreams, a very hypnotic looper of a track with a bassline that you can totally get lost in. Side B is reserved for Burger Sichten Falschgeld, which is a bit punchier with some really nice percussion work with a very obvious nod to early chicago jack tracks, beefed up a bit and Kompaktified. (KOMPAKT155)MINIMAL TECHNO- 4/09/07-GE

PETE LAZONBY

BOB/I MISS YOU (PLAYHOUSE) 12  - 103183

Pete Lazonby returns to the fold with a 2 tracker for Playhouse. Maybe a tad harder than what Playhouse normally puts out, but I guess when you have a good thing in front of you, you shouldnt be thinking "Its good, but does it fit our usual sound". Well, we're glad they went outside the box and we think you will too. "Bob" is a techy more agressive cut with TONS of crazy FX thrown all over everything! This one is a floor burner, folks! One to drop to make the whole joint explode. "I Miss You" is on the flipside. A bit less crazy, but just as dark with some nice vocal snippets thrown here and about.  (PLAY135)MINIMAL TECHNO- 4/09/07-GE

SWEET N CANDY

ONCE UPON A TIME (RAUM MUSIK) DP  - 103189

One of the more anticipated full lengths of the last 6 months has finally arrived! And, boy, did it deliver. 8 cuts of some of the best minimal house and techno you could ever hope for. The first record is on the darker side of Sweet N Candy. Very stripped, but still has some major funk to all 4 cuts. Perfect for those late night freakout sessions where you just want to make everyones mind melt before working them into a frenzy. And that is what record 2 is for! 4 more cuts in the same production style, but more on the jackin and housier tip. Definitely will be hearing all the Berlin minimal types rocking this album for months to come. (RAUM058)MINIMAL TECHNO- 4/09/07-GE

DOMINIK EULBERG

LIMIKOLEN (TRAUM) 12  - 103073

Dominik Eulberg returns to show us what its all about. Heavy on the grooves, this ultra hypnotic JAM is sure to please. Lots of tones swirling about with dark and thick drums that will easily work the dancefloor into a frenzy. On the flip, things get darker and more punchy with tones that stab to really mess with everyones heads at any hour!(TRAUMV84)MINIMAL TECHNO- 4/02/07-GE

ALEX UNDER

1,2,3 RESPONDAOTAPEZ (TRAPEZ) 12  - 103190

Alex Under returns to the label he got most of his early breaks from: Trapez. Alex is one of our favorties. Always coming up with these sick grooves that are as dark and techno as they are bouncey and housey. Truly a genius in the crossover dept. 3 cuts here, all classic Alex. Not much more needs to be said. (TRAPEZ74)- 04/09/07

MICKY SLIM

JUMP (WHITE) 12  - 103221

HUGE BUZZ ON THIS CUT! Massive electro house reworking of House Of Pain's "Jump" done in a hard hitting electro house stylee with aggressive bleepy synth action, rugged beats and a punishing bassline. Full support from Prydz, Axwell and Ingrosso!(JUMP001)HOUSE- 4/09/07-UK

DA SUNLOUNGE

DECISIONS EP (BAMBINO) 12  - 102961

Following a busy 2006 producing EP's and remixes for labels such as Amenti Music, Tango, So Sound, Lost My Dog, Flavor Recordings and of course his own labels Myna and Bambino. In true Da Sunlounge stylee he delivers jazzy, deep, disco bumpin house. The A side uses just a touch of a sample from Tom Tom Club's "Wordy Rappinghood" and laces it into a slick funky disco house powered groove with a fresh female vocal hook, cool guitar bits and super fat bass. "Rude Jazz" on the flip has a bumping acid house meets Derrick Carter vibe and is quite a treat as well.(BAM006)HOUSE- 4/05/07-FR

MARK ASHKEN

TWO LEFT FEET *MARC HOULE* (LEFTROOM) 12  - 102411

Heres a new one from Mark Ashken on Leftroom, which in our opinion is one of the fastest growing labels for minimal techno/house. For this outing, Mark is definitely showing some homage of sorts to the Minus trio of Run Stop Restore. Very quirky cuts here in the vein of RSR, but grow and grow til the track explodes at the end. Outside of 3 cuts from Mr Ashken, there is also a remix from Marc Houle, who is also part of Run Stop Restore! So, it's pretty fitting that he got asked for the remix duties. Extremely solid stuff for those fans of the Minus sound, as well as John Tejada or Steve Bug.(LEFT009)HOUSE- 4/05/07-UK

SORCERER

SURFING AT *PRINS THOMAS* (TIRK) 12  - 103143

California's Daniel Judd aka Sorcerer makes his Tirk label debut with this amazing slab of nu-disco pressure which takes on the whole Lindstrom sound and kicks it up a notch. On the remix is none other than Prins Thomas who liked the original so much he rang in to do this retouch.(TIRK019)ELECTRO DISCO- 4/09/07-UK

FERGIE

LONDON BRIDGE *AXWELL* (WHITE) 12  - 102616

Axwell funks up Fergie's "London Bridge" in true Axwell style, monstrous beats, a spanking electro fuelled synth line, Fergie's vocals sprinkled nicely over the top.(BRIDGE001)HOUSE- 4/09/07-UK

CLYDE & CAPITOL A

BROKEN SLANG (MANTIS) 12  - 102920

We've been waiting, and waiting, and waiting some more for this hot remix package to drop, and finally all that patience has paid off!! Atjazz and Brooks get the remix call here on Mantis, with Atjazz contributing a pair of mixes, one 4/4 groover and one broken, followed by a killer rendition from Brooks that is as smooth as ever.(MANT029)HOUSE- 3/29/07-GE

ALEX KID

LOVE LETTERS *ROMBOY* (F COMMUNICATIONS) 12  - 103002

Taken from Alex's third album "Caracol", "Love Letters" receives two major reconstructions courtesy of Marc Romboy and Tim Paris. The original album version is included as well. Marc Romboy's mix is a deliciously deep reworking with more laid back and tripped out grooves, very psychedelic late night druggy material. Tim Paris' mix pumps up the beats and freaks out the main synth riff nicely. Huge support on this from Tiefschwarz, Dj T and Steve Bug.(1370259130)HOUSE- 4/09/07-BE

DAN BERKSON

THE HOLLOW EP (CROSSTOWN REBELS) 12  - 103147

Poker Flat's Dan Berkson releases his Crosstown Rebels debut in the form of the two track 'Hollow EP'. The Hollow is a wicked melodic and minimal number working clicky hypnotic percussion qith warm keys and melodies perfectly suited to the upcoming warmer months. The flipside track Circuits is a deep late nite tech houser worked by the likes of Steve Bug and MANDY.(CRM037)MINIMAL HOUSE- 4/09/07-UK

KID MASSIVE & RAOUL FT IJEOMA

ISLAND BREEZE *TRENTEMOLLER* (JUSTRAXX) 7"  - 103227

Trentemoller never ceases to blow us away with his precision packed productions and here drops a killer mix on the debut offering of Justraxx. Kid Massive's "Deep House" mix is pretty amazing too, reminiscent of early Presence / Charles Webster material. Trentemoller's mix adds a dope Lo Soul-esque synth line and a dirtier bassline that plays perfectly against the gorgeous vocals.(12JTR001)CLUB/NRG- 4/09/07-UK

GALACTICA *JIMPSTER* (SIMPLE) 12  - 103176

Tam Cooper burst onto the scene a month or 2 ago co-producing a record with Will Saul that was top notch! This time around, he's on his own, proving that he doesn't need a high profile artist like Will Saul to help him shine. Galactica is a straight up synthy house dream! Lots of chord stabs to make up the rhythm, and the drum sounds are fantastic. And, as if the original wasnt enough, Tam got 2 of solid remixers to do their dirty work on the flip. First off is Jimpster, who brings a harder element into the fold. In fact, if I didnt read it first, I would have never guessed this was him. Almost angry and industrial sounding! Definitely a nice change of pace for Jimpster. Secondly, we have Exercise One with something really dark and minimal on a scary tip! Dubbed out sounds, and a soft rhythm that would turn the afterhours upside down for sure.(SIMPLE0723)HOUSE- 4/09/07-GE

BURNSKI

VERY BASIC (SOUNDPLANT) 12  - 103177

England's own Burnski has a way about him. Always putting out quality tech house thats generally simple, but never borning. For this one for soundplant, we can hear alot of influences from early Luke Solomon type stuff. On the flip, things sound a bit deeper. The first cut sounds like it could easily have been put out on Poker Flat. The final track is an acidic jam that crunches it's way to nice quick, but solid breakdown.(SNP010)HOUSE- 4/09/07-GE

JAMELIA / FAITHLESS

BEWARE OF THE DOG *LAWLER* (WHITE) 12 -  - 103222

On the flip "Factory 84" goes deep on that hot Italian minimal electro tech sound that fans of the Pastaboys will go for.(RX080)HOUSE- 4/09/07-IT

JOKER & THE THIEF *DFA* (MODULAR) 12  - 102928

Tim's mixes take the track deep into twisted house territory, freaking the fuck out of the vocal on his first remix and adding grinding synth arpeggios giving it a Glimmers meets Emperor Machine vibe that is killer. His dub is all Eskimo, Lindstrom flavored and just as nice. LIMITED QUANTITIES!(MODVL055)HOUSE- 4/02/07-UK

FAZE ACTION

IN THE TREES *CARL CRAIG* (JUNO) 12  - 101689

Faze Action's "In The Trees" was one of the catalysts that rocketed the Nuphonic imprint into the spotlight. It sounds as incredible today as it did 11 years ago when it was first released. It has been unavailable for quite some time and is the first release on Juno's new imprint. As a special bonus this release comes with a wicked remix from CARL CRAIG who lends his midas touch to the tune giving it a deep, dark and edgy driving feel before nicely teasing in the beautiful melodies of the original. "Bad Machines" featured on the LP, opens with a sample lifted from Oliver Stone's "Midnight Express" and features patent Silicone Soul soul with uplifting energetic grooves, a wicked piano line and a soaring old school breakdwon that's a throwback to 92'. "Stolen Sunset" the brand new cut features nicely layered deep and trippy melodies, with hypnotic bass, filtering effected synth lines, and a sound that fuses old school H Foundation hypnot-tech grooves with trippier spaced out Idjut styled noodlings with a killer synth solo.(SOMA225)HOUSE- 4/09/07-UK

VULVA STRING QUARTET

CRANBERRY SONG (COMBINATION RECORDS) 12  - 103171

Vulva String Quartet return with "Cranberry Song" EP. The title track is a long full-sided workout thats lost deep in the Detroit feel. In fact, crossing Carl Craig with newer John Tejada would be kinda accurate. Well, on the flip the Detroit vibe continues. Deeps strings ala "Strings of Life" and some soft but dirty basslines round out the highlights. The final cut sounds straight out of Kenny Dixon JR land.(CORE051)HOUSE- 4/09/07-GE

ANGELO BATTILANI

BLACK GHOSTS

ANYWAY YOU CHOOSE TO GIVE IT (SOUTHERN FRI) 12  - 102882

Second essential single from the Black Ghosts, probably one of the biggest buzzed bands to emerge as of late. Along with the rocking LCD flavored original, Playgroup, Boy 8 Bit and Fake blood turn in some massive remixes. Playgroup is our personal fave, turning the track into a retro rave meets modern dance classic using old school breaks and replaying 808 State's classic riff from "Cubik" and lacing the vocals over it. FUCKING WICKED!(ECB117)HOUSE- 4/02/07-UK

The lead cut on this Rotary Cocktail comp starts out in typical 4/4 fashion, and then after a couple mins, gets all tripled out, which is pretty cool! It goes on in triplets through most of the track, until the end when it goes back to its original rhythm. Definitely a fun track overall. On the flipside, things keep on with 2 fun and bouncy tech house cuts.(RC006)HOUSE- 4/09/07-GE

JOVONN

NEPTUNE/LOOSIN' MY MIND (COCO SOUL) CO  - 101589

Coco Soul is back and this time flippin' the style with NYC mainstay Jovonn. As always, one hot track on each side, pressed deep, long and hard ready to push the bass in the place. Jovonn takes a serious departure to the left with two tracks completely devoid of divas or lyrics of love. "Neptune" is a deep, chugging tech track delivering that outerspace hypnosis for the fans of Ame, Sonar etc. Side B's "Loosin' My Mind" keeps things New York in rhythm only with that afro bounce but the top end is all grinding synths, techno rides and vocals remniscent of Lil' Louis' "Blackout !" ARMIN VAN BUUREN

COMMUNICATION 3 *COLDWARE* (ARMIND) 12  - 103005

Brilliant remake of one of AVB's all-time biggest tracks by the man himself plus Coldware!! The a-side starts out with a punchy 4/4 kick and distant atmospherics before layering steadily into a heads-down driver sporting techy riffs and more ice-cold string pad overlays. The main break drops a sweet piano melody which gives way to a HUGE arpeggiated lead. On the flip Coldware deliver a chunkier prog-tinged version which will captivate a whole new audience of AVB fans.(ARMD1037)TRANCE- 4/02/07-NL
