SYNTAX EXCLUSIVE!! Rudman couldnt have come up with a more fiting name for this track if he'd tried...'Blast From The Past' is the kind of old school 80's jam that makes the likes of Lindstrom, Daniel Wang and the Glimmers go weak in the knees, as Rudman drops 4 mixes of throwback electronic funk using proper analogue synth sounds and riffs over crisp 80's beatbox rhythms and snappy digital bass.(RONG018)ELECTRO DISCO- 3/19/07-UK

HOLY SHIT! Take early Josh Wink, Marshall Jefferson's "Mushrooms", Dj Sneak's "The Gas" and a touch of Green Velvet and you begin to get an idea of the monster that is "Remember". It's a HUGE drug fueled techy / acid ravey bomb that goes off. Deep and trippy and completely insane with car crashes, evil builds that lead nowhere, tough funky driving beats and a killer spoken word vocal part.(OLM011)HOUSE- 3/19/07-UK

AUDIOWHORES

IM INSPIRED (DEFECTED) 12  - 102410

After several well received outings on Soulfuric Deep, Peppermint Jam and Look At You, the Audiowhores finally hit big time here on Defected. ALEX GAUDINO

DESTINATION CALABRIA (DATA) 12  - 102611

'Destination Calabria' has been building itself a cult following since it began life as 'Destination Unknown', a track Alex put together with his studio partner Maurizio Nari back in 2003, which featured vocals by Crystal 'Gypsy Woman' Waters. Jim Tonique was called in on remix duties, and to add a little something special to his mix, he replayed the irresistable sax hook of the Ibiza classic by Rune, 'Calabria' (Credence). Since then the demand for this tune has been MASSIVE. And when things get this big they always find their way to that Data imprint. This package features a plethora of mixes coming from King Unique, Laidback Luke and Paul Emanuel. HUGE TUNE HERE FOLKS!(DATA153T)HOUSE- 3/19/07-UK

REJ *HUNDRED BIRDS* (DEFECTED) 12  - 97290

After a string of excellent releases on Planet Noise, Crosstown Rebels and Punkt, Ost & Kjex land back on Dialect with remixes of their aweseom "Milano Model" (DIAL009) coming from Rob Mello and Mungolian Jetset. Rob turns the cut into a sexy electro disco groover, classy and quite funky. The Mungolian Jetset remix has been described as...like Michael Jackson venturing back from the Thriller era schmoozed into fragments of Balkan accordional pieces that has traces of Strauss, Snoop Dogg, barbershop vocals, tech-no house music and just that little bit of the Mighty Gong. Off the wall and completely irresistable.(DIAL013)HOUSE- 3/19/07-FR

On the flip its Tim Fischbeck and Baggy Bukkador taking the vibe into a dirtier and more minimal place.(MBF12029)MINIMAL HOUSE- 3/19/07-GE

ON THE BUTTON (MASCHINE) 12  - 102639

Oliver Lieb serves up some of the twistiest electronic tech-funk its been our pleasure to check out so far this year. We love this evolution in the Solieb sound!!(MAS12)ELECTRO HOUSE- 3/19/07-GE

NOVATEK

PHREE4M (TONGUT) 12  - 102382

Savas Georgiadis aka Novatek, veteran of releases for the likes of Morris Audio, Treibstoff and Preset now returns to Apoll's Tongut label with two wicked minimal bangers. 'Philips' is a hypnotic min-tech workout with more than a passing nod to the early 'Klonk' sound on Warp, blending wonderfully klonky, bleepy synths and wobbly riddims. On the flipside 'Normal' uses a hypnotic bassline and crisp shaffle-hats to take you on a eyes-closed dancefloor adventure.(TON028)MINIMAL HOUSE- 3/19/07-GE

JOHN JULIUS KNIGHT

TRAX FOR MY HEAD (SOULFURIC TRAX) 12  - 102513

'Trax For My Head' features three very diverse productions from celebrated US producer JJK. 'The Cut' rolls in as a captivating 'French Kiss' style tune, that fuses classic House sounds with contemporary beats, making this a seriously gripping instrumental track.  Most likely the biggest surprise production-wise, 'The Rush' is a laid-back but equally powerful tech cut. The blend of atmospheric sounds, tight beats and a driving bassline creates a sublime musical weapon. With 'What Is Love' JJK delivers a prime-time bomb, that is set to create some real heat on the dancefloors. Uplifting strings and a pumping bassline build the core of this explosive production.(SFT0042)HOUSE- 3/19/07-FR

FRANCO CINELLI

ANTENNA *STAVOSTRAND* (ESPERANZA) 12  - 102532

Flip this baby straight over and head for Mikael Stavostrand's mix of "Antenna", GOD DAMN this baby is funky. It starts off slow and quite demented with tasty little percussion loops, deep beats and a whale call sounding synth freak out. A nice little build drops into the main part of the track where a super slick, funky and quite entrancing synth groove takes over along with a heavily effected freaky vocal part and tougher funky beats are provided. This is a Doc Martin special if we ever heard one.(ESPERANZ05)HOUSE- 3/19/07-GE

CR2 DIGITAL PROMO *SVEN WEBER* (CR2) 12  - 102575

Strictly limited vinyl pressing on CR2's 'Digital' series which at the end of this run will become a download only release. Ricky Stone & Timo Garcia pay homage to rave days gone by with 'Control The Universe', sampling the now famous line from the film 'Dune', 'he who controls the spice, controls the universe', putting it to work over a dirty, heads-down electro house framework that sound-wise will be key for fans of Oliver Klein, Gennaro Rossi. The aa-side features Mono's 'Make A Difference' with both the original and Sven Weber remix on hand.(12C2DL003)ELECTRO HOUSE- 3/19/07-UK

MIRO PAJIC

WIRED WORLDS (KIDDAZ FM) 12  - 102625

One of the hottest releases ever on the Kiddaz FM label comes your way from previously unheralded producer Miro Pajic, who already has Troy Pierce, Magda and Agaric supporting this hefty release. The original mix is a Minus-inspired slab of hypnotic minimal techno that uses slick percussion to grab on tight and wicked subs and kicks along the way. The flipside remix from Sascha Krohn and Holgi Star adds a jackin' Chicago element with some twisted vocal distortions and bruising tech house beats.(KIDD054)MINIMAL HOUSE- 3/19/07-GE

SOMORE FT DAMON TRUEITT

I REFUSE *PHIL WEEKS* (JAD) 12  - 101818

This track has been around for over 10 years now, originally appearing on the i! Records imprint and licensed to quite a few after. Here this soulful vocal track re-appears with a spanking new remix from Phil Weeks and Wayne Gardiner's original "Stripped" mix. Mr Weeks beefs up the beats on his mix big time and adds some slick percussion into the sauce while letting Damon's heartfelt vocals shine through the mix perfectly.(JAD001)HOUSE- 3/15/07-FR

JUSTUS KOHNCKE

VS PRINS THOMAS (KOMPAKT) 12  - 102368

Kompakt big-shot Justus Kohncke and space disco master Prins Thomas team up for a delightful big of disco influenced house. Really great stuff to say the least!(KOM153)MINIMAL HOUSE- 3/11/07-GE

DJ PETZI

LOOKING FOR YOU *PENTON* (LOOP 128) 12  - 102140

Dj Petzi offers up a nasty slab of atmospheric tribal house business here with a heavenly vocal and some major percussion work. Definitely a must for the Beat Freak-ers out there. Thomas Penton drops the remix, a tougher more electro fuelled rub which adds some pulsing synth grooves, huge reverb to the beautiful vox and some tripped out heavily effected moments that work the hell out of the dancefloor.(LOOP12812)TRIBAL- 3/15/07-SP

DJINXX

BE QUIET *DJULZ* (ELECTROCHOC) 12  - 102446

NICK HOPPNER

WHO NEED ACTION (OSTGUT TON) 12  - 102372

Berlin based Ostgut Ton hasnt let us down yet! Always quality deep techno releases that become favorties of all who purchase them. This one comes from Nick Hoppner, who in addition to being half of the Playhouse based MYMY outfit, also holds down residencies at 2 of the most well known clubs in Berlin: Berghain and Panorama Bar. DEEEEP tech house is whats on the plate here. Perfect for the later hours. The A-side is on a bleepy tip with a sick sick sick rhythmic bassline and very warm pads to boot. the B-side gets more organic, bringing some of the best deep house gear on the techish side of FRANCK ROGER.(OST06)MINIMAL HOUSE- 3/19/07-GE

JOHN DALY

SKY DIVE (PLAK) 12  - 102526

YEAH YEAH, We thought John Daly was a golf player but apparently this bad ass mother has produced an ep for Wave and another killer here for Plak. The A side feels a lot like Moodyman material with a slow dirty disco bassline rolling in the back while tripped out synths induce psychotic hallucinations over deep shuffling beats.(PLK14)DISCO- 3/19/07-GE

ALLAND BYALLO

DARK TIDE DISCO *DAPAYK* (FLOPPY FUNK) 12  - 102553

Los Angeles native now residing in San Francisco, Russian born Alland Byallo has broken into the house scene with his own unique blend of tech funk. Alland's taste, coupled with his research and digging, always instills an undeniable funky groove in his productions evident on his "Buckets" for Liebe Detail or his remix for Claude Vonstroke on Dirtybird. "Dark Tide Disco" is a rolling deep and dirty club track with catchy vocal hook, shuffling deep beats, quirky percussion, warm chords, cool effects and some nice jack! On the remix, Dapayk (Mos Ferry) goes even deeper taking this track deep into Perlon territory.(FLOPPY010)HOUSE- 3/19/07-GE

MOVE D

ANNE WILL *JACKMATE/KARIMANI* (LIEBE DETAIL S) 12  - 102557

The second installment of the liebe*detail spezial series comes in the form of more remixes of one of their signature tracks, Move D's 'Anne Will'. After the first part with remixes by Lawrence, Argy and Vincenzo more or less focussed on the house aspects of the original, this part emphasises the Techno side of the spectrum. Prolific producer DENIS KARIMANI from Hamburg turns äAnne Willô into a minimal, thumping bass affair, that just keeps building up and up until a soaring heavy synth riff lifts it even more up and takes the mix through the roof. This is clearly the most peaktime oriented mix. JACKMATE: Michel Baumann (aka Soul Phiction aka part of Mandmade Science and owner of the Philpot label) sticks to the loopy and hypnotic formula of Move D's original, but strips it back to its rhythmic barebone making it bump and grind reminiscent of the minimal grooves of Chicago House. Production team MY MY (Playhouse/Circus Company) heavily concentrate on syncopated rhythms providing "Anne Will" with a slick Latin feel.(LDS002)TECHNO- 3/19/07-GE

BUTANE

TECHNO FOR WHIRRLED PEAS VOL 2 (ROMAN PHO) 12  - 102560

Volume 2 will most likely get the same group of support and most probably more from the likes of anyone into the Rhythm & Sound / Chain Reaction sound, dreamy, thumping funked up, stripped down techno / house with mad mad effects!(RP05)HOUSE- 3/19/07-GE

STRANGE BUT COOL (CURLE) 12  - 102435

Here we have a split EP from the Curle label. The A side belongs to Reynold. This one is a melodic minimal house cut that could best be described as big room minimal. Very washy synth lines with a driving beat and nice lil stabs here and there. On the flip, Denis Karimani (whose last EP on the Smallville imprint blew out of here so fast, we thought we misplaced it) kicks it up a notch with a similar vibe to the Reynold track but treads into the Detroitish sounds. There are three tracks on offer here, each thoroughly tried and tested to induce maximum crowd response. "Pornazzy" is a nine minute long excursion into a dense maze of delayed snare rolls and razor sharp hi hat patterns. The hypnotic synth pulse and phat, dirty bass line signal an immediate call to the floor even before the irresistible groove gets fully underway. From then on we're gradually pulled skywards as layer upon layer of dubbed-out efx build up a wall of sound that accelerates into the kind of breakdown that goes down big time here at Syntax HQ!(GUMPTION07)HOUSE- 3/19/07-GE

MOAN *RADIO SLAVE* (POKER FLAT WHITE) 12  - 101684

The second single lifted from his stunning debut album "The Last Resort" sees Mr Trentemoller himself provide a brilliant dub of "Moan" on the A. His mix fuses deep Rhythm & Sound dub house aesetics with pushing trippy electronics and a beautifully moody late night vibe. HOT. As if this weren't enough to entice you to buy one, Radio Slave provides an equally dazzling rub on the flip that goes deep into subterranean waters and sounds so god damn large on big rigs it's hard to put into words. The mood on this mix is dark and brooding as is Trente's and there are some extra nice additions of melody that take this track even further.(PFRWHITE01)HOUSE- 3/12/07-GE

Fellow Urbana producer Montilla drops a remix on the tougher electro house tip with awesome lead synth riffs, harder, edgier beats and great effects. Dave Storm goes solo for the last mix which plays nicely on the synth melody switching up the arrangement of the notes to fuck with the groove while adding epic uplifting strings and dramatic breakdowns for more of an ecstasy fuelled ride....(URBANA026)HOUSE- 3/15/07-SP

DOMESTIC HOUSE

ORIENTAL FUNK & OLIVIER DESMET

STEP FORWARD EP (OFS TRAX) 12  - 102517

Debut release on the new OFS Trax label. All three tracks are in the tried and true Oriental Funk Stew and Olivier Desmet vein with the B-side's "Keep On Moving" being the highlight and already being played by Mark Farina and Fred Everything, an infectious track featuring a classic sample by Skyy. Also watch out for the Brass Construction bits on the very   hot "Taking Me High".(OFS001)HOUSE- 3/15/07-US

AUDION

MOUTH TO MOUTH REMIXES (SPECTRAL) 12  - 102170

LOUIE VEGA

MIX THE VIBE VINYL EP 2 (KING STREET) 12  - 102126

Second Ep from Louie's latest Mix the Vibe CD. Some more gems from the King Street vaults: A-side Groove Box "Casio's Theme", Tears of Velva "The Way I feel". B-side Peven Everett "I Can't Believe I Loved Her", Big Moses feat. Kenny Bobien "Brighter Days".(KSS1243)HOUSE- 3/15/07-US

MAEDA MILES

LOVELY DAYE REMIXES (PRIMAL) 12  - 102090

Two fantastic remixes of Miles Maeda'a hit "Lovely Daye" that came out last year on Dae Recordings. The Swirl People turn in a funky re-rub that makes great use of the vocals and is sure to wreak havoc. On the flip we have the remix by Olivier Desmet and Oriental Funk Stew which sounds more like an original track than a remix. A sexy horn solo and the entirevocal sample come together perfectly.(PRIMAL02)HOUSE- 3/16/07-US

JOEY YOUNGMAN & BRYAN JONES

MONUMENTAL EP (FETISH) 12  - 102035

They're back to follow up the fabulous "23 Candles Ep", once again each taking sides of the record and doing what they do best. Kicking off the A-side is "Brixton Bump", a nasty and we mean nasty trip back into the boompty sound of the late 90's, with the golden Youngman touch that we've come to know and love so much. A-2 "My First Love" takes things a tad deeper and sexier, working a catchy as hell sample and some authentic disco strings. Flip for Bryan's "Back Again" a filter disco number reminiscent of old Nekbath or Leger productions, but a smoother new school take. For B-2 Bryan goes deeper for his cut "No Job", a different sound for Mr. Jones that we are quite fond of, taking things on a bit of a foggy, sultry trip. All in all a top notch Ep, no filler here.(FR017)HOUSE- 3/14/07-US

JAY WEST

POWER TO CREATE EP (BLOCKHEAD) 12  - 100686

Polished diverse four tracker by the always on fire Jay West. This Ep does not let up, from the hypnotizing Gino Soccio-esque electronic funk of "Power to Create", to the sample tweaked funk of "Home Tonight"on to the soulful saxy bounce of "Speak Loud"and finishing with the steamy James Brown influenced jam "Eat Funk". A fine use of vinyl indeed!(BH017)HOUSE- 3/16/07-US

GREENSKEEPERS

WINTER BOOTS EP (DAE) 12  - 102467

Rousing disco funky ride from beginning to end, sample crazed with wild synths, funky guitars, full horn sections, the whold nine yards. "Filled Up" has a lot in common with a Young and Company classic,"Lazy Nina"with a classic Greg Phill  inganes track.(DAE016)HOUSE- 3/16/07-US

SLEAZY MCQUEEN

I'M WORKING ALL NIGHT EP (EIGHT TRACKS) 12  - 102171

Bleepy swamp funk and blippy indie crooning abound and build into a frustrated ball of buxom dancefloor possibility. Remix duties fall into the hands of Anthony Mansfield (Hector Works)who lays down some spacey Italo Funk with a bit of help from twisted house man of the moment Nick Chacona. Atnarko unleashes a squelchy thumper that makes your toes wanna tingle. Lastly Jaywood surprises with a heavy jacking housemix.(8TR003)HOUSE- 3/15/07-US

RUOTSI RUOHO VS TRITON

SELECTOR VOL 2 (SKOR) 12  - 99369

Dub tech brilliance on this double A-sided gem. Ruoho's side is a sonic abstraction of the perpetually hungry soul, enraptured by natural progressions, reverberant bass accents and interwreathed textural deployments. Timeless yet edgey. Triton is techno and dub with appeal to the deep vibe of the dancefloor. Taking cues from Maurizio and the old school club producers like Adrian Sherwood the two tracks are a nod to tech house clicks and the deepest end vibes of minimal flavors taken to the next level.(SKOR12)TECH HOUSE- 3/16/07-US

RITHMA

I WISH I COULD BE BEAUTIFUL (OM) 12  - 101062
