JAY WEST

HEAR TO STAY (DROP MUSIC) 12  - 102069

A delicious trio of tunes is the best way to describe the newest from Pablo Sabetta, a.k.a. Jay West. 'Headz On Fire' is bright, bouncy and cheeky as a voice awaringly proclaims, 'There's a lot of funky s*** going on.' "The Problem" sets the tone with moody keys that play off a sliding bass and has been killing it for the Inland Knights for some time now. Rounding off this winner is "Hold Ya" a funky and unfussy production.(DRM051)HOUSE- 3/05/07-UK

MIGUEL MIGS

MESMERIZED *SHUR I KAN* (NRK) 12  - 102132

It's been quite some time since we've seen a Miguel Migs release on NRK but good things come to those who wait. "Mesmerized" is quite simply one of the best things Miguel has touched ever. It harks back to the early sound of Naked Music, deep musical and with a sultry vocal to DIE for. Freerange's Shur I Kan provides three sexy mixes on this platter as well  from his banging dancefloor dub to his equally sexy and soulful "Guilty Pleasures" vocal this package is TIGHT!(NRK129)HOUSE- 3/05/07-UK

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM

NORTH AMERICAN SCUM *K MENACE* (DFA) 12  - 101600

This reminds us of a more dance oriented White Stripes. Remixes come from Kris Menace who takes the track deep into "Discopolis" epic italo disco land and James Murphy & Eric Broucek who provide an off the wall mix that fits in with recent Kitsune gear.(DFAEMI2165)PUNK/FUNK/DISCO- 3/05/07-UK

'What?' is an absolute handful of a tune, packing jackstastic beats that will have you singing the praises of Chicago along with elements of fidget house, techno and house that've been garnering support from the likes of Mark Farina {signed to Mark's latest Ministry Of Sound Sessions album} and Derrick Carter. INNERVISIONS

SECRET WEAPONS PT 1 (INNERVISIONS) 12  - 101877

Innervision always has an ear for what's going on and has collected four overlooked tunes for this incredible four track sampler. First up is Mark Broom & Chris Baker's (under the Kingpin Cartel guise) "Ghetto". This track would have slipped through the cracks if not come upon by the keen ears of the IV crew. Deep and soulful and uplifting with a beefy bassline, soaring strings and an Underground Resistance meets Akabu feel. Next up Aji drops "Zagora" which sounds like Main Street / Rhythm & Sound material with a more percussive edge. On the flip Mark August provides "Warm" a deeply hypnotic and soulful number perfect for the Ame fans out there and finishing things off in fine style are Fish Go Deep with "ESL" a beautiful retro flavored number for the Kerri Chandler fans out there.(IV10)HOUSE- 3/05/07-GE

FRANCK ROGER

AFEFE (REAL TONE CUTS) 12  - 102209

Naughty business here from Franck Roger who delivers two reworkings of a track we're pretty sure originally came from Afefe Iku. Francks mixes, a vocal and a dub are deep soulful electronic rubs fitting very much into the Ame / Dennis Ferrer side of things.(RTC005)HOUSE- 3/05/07-FR

ROGER FRANCK FT TOMELO

FREE FOR ALL (REAL TONE) 12  - 101555

Deep house master Franck Roger is back with a vocal house anthem featuring the sultry vocals of Tomelo. "Free For All" has deep laid back beats with breaky snares that give the drums great shuffle while Tomelo's vocals draw you into the beautiful melodies which include a smooth harp stroke and warm chords. A dope instrumental follows this. On the flip Jolene provides the sexy vocals on "Salsa Moves You", another slick deep house vocal. The instrumental on this is equally amazing.(RTR019)HOUSE- 2/12/07-FR

MR G

RE KIDZ (PHEONIX G) 12  - 102302

Following the stunning release on Radioslave's Rekids imprint Mr McBean returns home to his Pheonix G label, dropping 3 incredibly hot cuts here that are essential for fans of the dark, wonky tech house sound of now. EBE

GROUNDED EP (PLASTIC CITY) 12  - 97730

Time for a little U.S. action on the famed Plastic City imprint courtesy of EBE aka Cali producer Lucas Rodenbush, who's been doing it well for over 10 years now on labels like Grayhound, Solid Grooves and Soma. Led by the a-side track 'Votion' and its soulful vocal snippets, deep piano stabs and ultra-phat dub bass lines, the 'Grounded EP' captures that timeless Plastic City sound while adding some fresh and new twists along the way. A true must-have!(PLAX053)TECH HOUSE- 3/05/07-GE

JESSE GARCIA

OFF DA HOOK *FUNKERMAN* (STEALTH) 12  - 101783

Jesse follows up 'Lets Get Happy' for the S-Man with these two new peak-time housers here on Stealth. 'Off Da Hook' and 'Survive' both blend tribal elements, dark bass and Latin-inspired funk definitely built to dominate today's floors. Funkerman's remix adds that trademark chunky Dutch funk into the equation. Hot.(STEALTH42)HOUSE-3/05/07-UK

BOB SINCLAR

TENNESSEE *HENRIK B* (LEGATO) 12  - 102105

Two exclusive remixes of 'Tennessee'. A-side: Soul Conspiracy's remix is a funky house remix with that nice Amsterdam / Work vibe with dope synth grooves, jacking Mousse T flavored beats and pure peak time power. Henrik B's mix is a super deep Detroit flavored mix that has a wicked slow building Ame vibe.(LGT5115)HOUSE- 3/05/07-BE

BUSY P

RAINBOW MAN *WHITE VINYL* (ED BANGERS) 12  - 102108

PRESSED ON LIMITED WHITE VINYL! Ed Bangers is the SHIT! Here again they prove the can weed through the mass of crap cuts and come up with some nasty rocking dancefloor bombs. Busy P drops an ode to his favorite (and certainly one of our here) clubs in NYC, APT with "Rainbow Man". It's as sweaty and rocking as the downstairs is at APT on any given night. Next up "Chop Suey" is a blazing slab of ghetto electro cut up French stylee, like Dj Funk or Dj Assault collaborating with Akufen or Ark. Bad ass shit. Last up is Busy P's remix of Fancy's "What's Your Name Again" which Sebastian has been devistating floors for months with now! Another killer on this bad ass imprint!(ED014)HOUSE- 3/05/07-FR

Funkagenda delivers a slice of bleepin', funkin' electronic house pressure entitled 'San Francisco' that will certainly blow your mind!! Rude analogue stabs and punchy drums turn the original into a proper little dancefloor burner while the remixes from Dave Spoon and Shafunkers will really pour gasoline onto the fire!(TRT25)ELECTRO HOUSE- 3/05/07-UK

HARALD BJORK

BRUS (TRAUM) 12  - 102272

Well, heres a crazy one! Swedish artist Harald Bjork releases one for Traum thats got one of the more interesting openings to a track we have heard in a while, focusing on no-tradional 4/4 rhythms. Half way through, things get back to normal though and the full focus of the track pulls forward. Lots of analog synthn going on, ala Nathan Fake/Border Community type sounds. Very lush, and very lethal to packed house. The vibe on the flip stays similar, but a bit on the funky side. A very prominant bassline rounds it out for one of the better releases on Traum in quite some time. And that is saying something.(TRAUMV83)MINIMAL HOUSE- 3/05/07-GE

JONES CAMILLE V FEDDE LE GRAND

THE CREEPS *MACKLIN* (DATA) 12  - 102088

JORG BURGER

POLYFORM 1 (K2) 12  - 102273

Jorg Burger (half of the classic duo of Burger/Ink) comes off hiatus and brings a 12" that is unmistakeably him. Mr Burger is partly responsible for developing the "Kompakt Sound" as we know it, and this 12" fully represents that. The A-side is punchy, and the flip is deep. This one is a no brainer.(K223)MINIMAL HOUSE- 3/05/07-GE

RADIOCLIT

MATURE MACHO *SOLID GROOVE/SIN (COUNTERFEET) 12  - 99813

Switch's Dave Taylor presents the brand new sublabel to his immense Dubsided imprint, kicking it into the stratosphere with this Eurocrunk anthem featuring French rap group TTC, Brasil's finest Donde De Role plus a scorching, we mean SCORCHING remix from Solid Groove and Sinden that is about to rewrite all the rules- bad ass shit!!(COUNT002)TECH HOUSE-12/11/06-UK

JESSE SOMFAY

JEWELSWEET GROVE *KIKI* (AUDIO INVADERS) 12  - 101665

Canadian uber-producer Jesse Somfay delivers the inaugural release on the Audio Invaders imprint, a mighty Border Community-inspired tech groover entitled 'Jewelsweet Grove'. This track blends deep bass stabs that follow emotional chord positions before getting tweaked like crazy at the buildup. Bpitch Control's Kiki steps up with a massive reworking that again is all about the melancholy feelings and twisted sounds.(AI001)MINIMAL HOUSE- 3/05/07-GE

EMPEROR MACHINE

VERTICAL TONES VOL 5 (DC) 12  - 101750

DC Recordings presents the fifth part of the highly collectable 'Vertical Tones And Horizontal Noise' 12' series from Andy Meecham's Emperor Machine, two tracks of pulsing analog electro disco from the man also known as one half of Big Two Hundred and Chicken Lips. 'Labocatocs' is a previously unreleased track bubbling with synth arpeggios and underpinned by a furious punk funk rhythm. 'Rimramramrim' is an extended version of the CD only album track, a disco workout fused with bursts of delay drenched guitar and spiralling analogue melodies.(DCR77)HOUSE- 3/05/07-UK

EMPEROR MACHINE

ALEXI DELANO

WHAT IS CONTROL (AUDIOMATIQUE) 12  - 101881

Our good friend Alexi Delano is one funky mother for sure. His tracks are as diverse as the labels they appear on from Dessous, Missile, Hybrid, Turbo, Earthtones, Svek, Plastic City and Wave to name just a few. Here for Audiomatique, Mr Delano provides a deep bumping acidic number similar in style to his "Acid Sessions" on his own AD Limited imprint with more of a Get Physical tilt. On the flip Alexi gets even deeper and darker on "Not My Enemy" a sparse mind boggling acid bomb currently getting run from James Holden and Radio Slave.(AM21)HOUSE- 3/05/07-GE

GLIMMERS

KOBES IN COLUMBIA *OPTIMO* (DISKIMO) 12  - 102103

Fifth installment on the Glimmers Diskimo imprint featuring Optimo joining in on the B. The A side's "Kobe's In Columbia" has a wicked Idjut Boys meets Kenny Dope feel sounding like Dope's "Brazilica" fused with the twisted dub disco vibe of "Whok Tish". On the flip "Wanna Make Out" is a punky, dubbed up trippy house gem perfect for the Eskimo lovers in the house.(DISKO6004)HOUSE- 3/05/07-BE

STUDIO APARTMENT

SIARRE *REEL PEOPLE* (PANTONE) 12  - 102152

Founded by Masanori Morita and Noboru Abe, Studio Apartment bridges the gap between the musical metropolises of New York, Tokyo and London. You've seen their work on King Street and as a matter of fact their last single "Flight" was a worldwide smash appearing on Danny Krivit's "In The House" and Blaze and Masters At Work's "Soul Heaven". Here on "Siarre" they team up with Afro vocalist Latyr for a deep excursion into percussive madness while on the flip original house diva Joi Cardwell stands up for a solid slice of souful house with a little help from Londons Reel People.(PAN12008)HOUSE- 3/05/07-UK

NICO PURMAN

LUNATIQUE (CROSSTOWN REBELS) 12  - 102270

Argentinean producer Nico Purman joins the illustrious Rebels family with this choice 3 tracker. 'Lunatique' is a stunning minimal tech jam with crisp beats, meandering synth line and that special Latin American spice that permeates this track. 'Calor Humano' is a touch darker, definitely the choice for your late nite set while the final track 'Voodoo' showcases Nico's percussion programming chops, combining layered bongos, heavy chord stabs abd deep atmospheric chants.(CRM036)ELECTRO HOUSE- 3/05/07-UK

DAMIAN SCHWARTZ

VERDE *PAN POT/K GORMAN* (CMYK) 12  - 102274

Here we have a couple of remixes of one of the leaders in the world of minimal techno, Damian Schwarz. Side A is from Keving Gorman, who takes Damians hyper-rhythmed original into a deep and dubbed out floor rocking monster! On the flip, Pan Pot do what they do best..... scare you. very dark and ladened with really nice FX work and deep and clunk rhythms.(CMYK7X)MINIMAL HOUSE- 3/05/07-GE

EYERER & RIOS

CHORIZO (KICKBOXER) 12  - 102275

Marin Eyerer & Toni Rios team up for a 2 tracker that is out of this world! The A side is a minimal lovers wet dream. Lots of deep toms, and a creepy synth line that comes up around the middle. Added synth stabs make this one all tickly when played around 8 AM, one could only imagine. On the flip, things get deeper with more of the same, but with some deeper synths that swirl all around til the final result sounds like the bastard son of mid nineties Rob Hood. Highly reccomended!(KICK014)MINIMAL HOUSE- 3/05/07-GE

TOM NOVY FT SNAP

THE POWER *M DANIELS* (FAME) 12  - 102287

MARTIN BROTHERS

MARTIN BROTHERS (DIRTYBIRD) 12  - 100416

Claude Von Stroke's Dirtybird imprint hsa now flown the coop, trans-Atlantic style, landing in Germany of all places in its new distribution home! To celebrate, here comes the release of 'The Martin Brothers' with two tracks of fidget house meets crunk meets some demented Loco Dice shit, two tracks stuffed to the feathers with twisted synth sounds and thick booming electronic drums. RE-PRESSED!!(DB007)ELECTRO HOUSE-12/11/06-GE

NEWCLEUS

JAM ON IT*DJ T/C VON STROKE* (DEEPLAY SOULTEC) 12  - 101456

Its rare enough to find two of the biggest names in house today, DJ T and Claude Von Stroke, remixing the same record, but factor in the fact that the tune in question is 80's electro anthem 'Jam On It' by Newcleus and you can easily see what all the fuss is about! T is up first with a crazy electronic house relick that leaves plenty of the original's punch and energy well in there along with his trademark Get Physical sounds and arrangements. Then 'dirty bird' Claude Von Stroke drops a devastating slice of electro-funk, chopped-up and freaked out stuff that will have kids losing their shit. The flip features a pair of deeper techier mixes from Martin Brodin that work great for the cooler rooms. BACK IN FULL!(DTEC013)ELECTRO HOUSE- 2/05/07-GE

OZGUR CAN

84 SHOTS *KOLETZKI/MEINDL* (PICKADOLL) 12  - 101609

2nd release from Ozgur this week {the other is on Harthouse Mannheim}, serving you this awesome slice of techno meets electro stuff, backed with a killer remix from the duo of Oliver Koletzki and Florian Meindl. The original works some gritty analogue Moog leads, deep haunting melodies and pad sounds riding chunky tech house drums. Koletzki and Meindl don't mess around much with an already good thing, instead the boys add more grit and punch to the leads and drums, with less of a syncopated feel that the dancefloor will love.(PICK019)ELECTRO HOUSE- 3/01/07-GE

AARDVARK

CULT COPY RMXS PT 1 *DEXTER* (RUSH HOUR LTD) 12  - 100725

Clone's Dexter gets busy on one of the incredible tunes off of Aardvark's "Cult Copy" album. He delivers a shaking mix that sounds like a deeper more undulating I Cube / Chateau Flight. It actually sounds a lot like Chateau Flight's remix of Slim "It's In The Mix" with more of a deep Chicago house swing. HOT! On the flip is another jacking swinging remix off the Aardvark album courtesy of 2000 and One (100% Pure) which is a wicked stripped down mix with a gigantic sound.(RHLTD005R1)HOUSE- 3/05/07-NL

BAD MOUTH *MAZI & CASS*

ANYMORE *LUKE SOLOMON/PHONIQUE (FRESH MEAT) 12  - 100811

First ever collaboration between Mazi and Cass (Of Cass & Mangan fame). The result is a deep dubby vocal infused house gem. Cass's vocals are stacked thickly and weave in and out of the arrangement while an emotional arpeggiated melody from an old school ARP 2600 keeps things moving and a old school Chicago bassline beefs things up. First up on the remix is Luke Solomon who adds his patent jacking house swing to the mix with tougher more edgy drums and freaky use of the original vocal. On the flip you'll find a remix from Phonique who provide a huge overhaul that is still soulful while adding a hot electronic electro-ey edge to the track.(FMR06)HOUSE- 3/05/07-GE

ERIC ENTRENA

I CAN FEEL IT (TORO) 12  - 101668

EBBRO

TRE *PIER BUCCI* (LUCY LEE) 12  - 102142

Tre in it's original form sounds like it belongs on the Major Swellings album from Prins Thomas. It's a deeply hypnotic disco journey through effected soundscapes, deep plodding beats with the most captivating guitar licks that will keep you bobbing your stoned head and shaking your booty from beginning to end. Pier Bucci chimes in with a remix that adds some chunk and swings to the drums while funking things up with bleepy synth funk and glitchyness.(LLQR005)HOUSE- 3/05/07-FR

SASSE

GRAVITY *NICK CHACONA* (MOOD MUSIC) 12  - 102160

Must have remixes of "Gravity" taken from Sasse's recent "Made Within The Upper Stairs of Heaven" album. First up is Peter Dildo (Trackdown) who stuns us on his mix, a deep house meets postminimal bomb featuring a slamming arrangement of fine tuned swinging beats, hypnotic effects and funky synth stabs. This is a fucking dope remix. Next up Bearfunk's Nick Chacona teams up with Anthony Mansfield (Rong/Hector Works) and go the cosmic disco route.(MOOD049)HOUSE- 3/05/07-GE

WILL SAUL & TAM COOPER

SEQUENTIAL CIRCUITS *K BLACK* (SIMPLE) 12  - 102165

Will Saul & Tam Cooper team up for an excellent deep house outing on Simple records. This is the first time the 2 have released together, and we hope it's not the last, as this one is well deserving of attention. The drums are slightly techy, but the chords are pure house. Almost sounding like old Global Communication ambient stuff laid over the top of some older Josh Wink type stuff. Very much on the lighter side of house music. So, its only fitting to get the remix on the flip to be on the darker side, right? So, they enlisted Wagon Repair and M_nus big-shot Konrad Black to take it into no mans land. The 808 is on point, and the 101 is in full effect. Kinda remeniscent of his first EP for Wagon Repair, and we all remember just how sweet THAT was!(SIMPLE0722)HOUSE- 3/05/07-GE

BELIEVERS

YOULL NEVER CHANGE *SEAMAN* (FALCO) 12  - 102210

HUGE package here from the Believers with Chelonis R. Jones on vocals and mixes coming from Dave Seaman and Oliver Koletzki. Dave Seaman's rub is an epic hands in the air affair, with deep moody bass, cascading effects and an infectious vocal hook. Oliver goes more for the electro house vibe on his mix using most of the full vocal rinsed out over shaking synth riffs and tough funky beats. The original mix is a pure Daft Punk uplifting anthem currently getting smashed by Tong.(FALCO005)HOUSE- 3/05/07-FR

ERIC BORGO VS OXIA

ANOTHER MAN *D STEFANIK* (TSUBA) 12  - 102234

LYRIC L

OOH U & I *PHIL ASHER* (ALTERED VIBES) 12  - 102280

Phis Asher works his Restless Soul wonder on Lyric L's "Ooh U & I" with both a vocal mix and a dub. Both mixes work the pads in a subterrenean way that is reminiscent of Pepe Braddock's "Burnin" with deep effects, slick shuffling beats and funked up bass. Dj Spinna has been all over this one!(AVR025)HOUSE- 3/05/07-UK

AFRONAUT

TRANSCEND ME *PHIL ASHER* (FONZ) 12  - 102281

Afronaut's "Transcend Me" is an underground house classic and here receives two fresh new makeovers from Phil Asher and IG Culture. Phil is a busy boy this week reworking Lyric L and here this anthem. His mix is pure deep Restless Soul, one for the headz into the likes of Blaze, Kerri Chandler, Franck Roger etc. IG Culture's mix breaks things up a bit with nice and soulful broken grooves. An accapella is included as well.(FONZ04)HOUSE- 3/05/07-UK

CAGNEY & LACEY

YOUR GIRL PUKES ALL *J ROSE* (TFE) 12  - 102082

The original mix of "Your Girl Pukes All Over The Dancefloor" is a hype little number that sounds like Autechre, Dan Curtin and Pan Pot all mashed up into one funky funking tune. Jesse Rose we must say destroys this track, injecting it with the fidget power of a fire-ant infestation in your pants. His mix explodes with Solid Groove styled beats, jerky synths and off the wall fills, drops and demented dancefloor breakdowns.(TFE004)HOUSE- 3/01/07-FR

MIKE SHANNON

TACTILE RED (CYNOSURE) 12  - 102163

The second part of the "Tactile" series from Mike Shannon. "Red" features more of Mike's kicking deep minimal funk that made his reputation what it is today. The a side's "8Bit Rojo" is a hard and dirty groover, with straight jacking beats, low res sound and a slick gliding bassline that pumps up the bottom end. Mathew Jonson has been battering this bad ass tune. On the flip "Red Tide" delves deeper and slowly builds with more low rez synth action into a swinging after hours gem for the headz.(CYN021)HOUSE- 3/05/07-GE

Jahcoozi with some minimal house remixes. The first one is one the shynthy italo type kick. Secondly, a house cut with really cool FX work and lots of clunky organic percussion. Sounds like something along the lines of IZ & DIZ or DERRICK CARTER. Finally, we have CASSY's remix, which is a nice ressurection of that old Chicago jack house sound we all love so much!(LESS007)MINIMAL HOUSE- 3/05/07-GE

SOUL JAZZ ORCHESTRA

MISTER PRESIDENT (DO RIGHT) 7"  - 102289

Since 2002, the Ottawa based band has been keeping the classic classic sounds of raw, gritty groove alive and well in Canada. Their style combines jazz, funk, African and Latin music with messages touching on politics and spirituality. The blaring horns, retro keyboards and polyrhythmic beats show the influence of James Brown, Herbie Hancock, Fela Kuti and Tito Puente, but the sound remains refreshingly original. Their stylistic variety is in part due to the diverse musical backgrounds of the band┤s individual members: jazz, funk, blues, reggae, classical, and traditional Cuban, Brazilian and West African percussion. "Mista President" evokes not only the spirit of a certain Mr Anikulapo-Kuti, but also a packed  Shrine going nuts. ┤Insurrection┤ on the B-side is a more straight-up funk cut.(DR4503)JAZZ FUNK- 3/05/07-UK
