SWIRL PEOPLE FT INGRID HAKAN

ILL BE A FREAK FOR YOU (AROMA) 12 - 100836

The second single taken out of the forthcoming album "Swirl I Up" (release: Feb 12th 2007) is again a beauty and perfect follow up to their "When I Think Of You" which featured the sweet vocals of Heather and remixes from Derrick Carter. Here they enlist Ingrid Hakan on vocal duties and Miles Maeda for remix duties. "I'll Be A Freak For You" is a fantastic 80's drenched house tune with Ingrid providing a great vocal performance that will be humming in your head well after the first listen. The Miles Maeda mix has a deeper vibe on the Chicago meets OM tip. Also included on this ep is a track that WON'T see a release on the album and can only be found here entitled "Lose You" a peak time jacker that uses just a touch of a vocal sample from Colonel Abrahams "Trapped". HOT FIRE!(AROMA050)HOUSE- 1/15/07-BE

GREENS KEEPERS

ABRACADABRA *LARNER/ALANIS* (GREENS KEEPE) 12  - 100872

Greens Keepers provide a funked up cover of the Steve Miller classic "Abracadabra". The track is fully replayed from beginning to end and features the vocals of Nick Maurer (the man responsible for the vocals on "Lotion"). This package also comes with a trio of big time remixes from John Larner, Lil Mark and Angel Alanis. The first remix on the record is Angel Alanis. His mix has a dope electro house feel with great build ups throughout the mix. He also rolls up his sleeve and lays down some of his own keys, ulls the vocals out and drops in a fresh new sequence that really works the floor. Next up Lil Mark who turns the track into a click house groove with the full vocal getting hit with effects that sound close to the original. This mix has been getting run from Solid Groove. Next up are the Keepers who house up the joint nicely with their usual quirky funked up vibe. Last on the mix is John Larner who drops a driving acid fuelled mix that is reminiscent of Jesse Rose's darker moments.(GKM019)HOUSE- 1/15/07-FR

PEVEN EVERETT

CANT DO WITHOUT *KARIZMA* (SOUL HEAVEN) 12  - 98964

AFEFE IKU

BODYDRUMMIN (YORUBA) 10  - 100933

So, who is this mysterious Afefe Iku? After absolutely destroying dancefloors with his infamous bootleg of Radiohead´s "Everything In Its Right Place", he returns with this more legitimate endeavor, a precurser of what's to come on his debut album which he's currently putting the finishing touches on. "Bodydrummin" sounds exactly as the title suggests, a percussive heavy track strictly for the dance floor, its organicyet techy tinged feel brings such an urgency to move your hips. Just to show that he´s not a one dimensional producer, "Columbus Beach" takes you to groove school. This cool and soulful jazz workout is perfect for those sun drenched afternoons or some laid back lounging. We end things off with "Baby" where Afefe brings you back for what he´s known best for, dance floor heat. With that signature Afefe Iku sound this is Osunlade sounding deepness all the way!(YS9.5)HOUSE- 1/15/07-UK

FISH GO DEEP

THE CAUSE & THE CURE *BALEARIC (DEFECTED) 12 - 100794

LIMITED ADVANCED PROMO COPIES! One of the biggest underground records of the year which recently broke into the UK top 25 off the back of huge support from the vibrant Urban House scene (where the Dennis Ferrer mix of the track became THE anthem of 2007) is back by way of a remix package from Balearic Soul.  Not previously available on vinyl, these versions take Tracey K’s sublime vocal and set it to a backing of bumping Latin percussion and rich layers of strings, keys and electric guitar;– a great alternative to Dennis's take.  A dub, and beats for the more creative DJs are also included.  Available in limited numbers on white label 12",– grab it before they disappear.(DFTD145DJ2)HOUSE- 1/15/07-UK

Stephan & Marc are leading the pack in a big way right now thanks in large part to releases like 'Puck' which definitely represents the electro club sound of now. The title track is all about the dark, ominous bass sound that gets LFO modulated about 8 ways to Sunday. Grungy bit crushed fx and a twisted minimal groove give this sucker even more teeth. On the flip 'Io' takes you on a deep, dreamy minimal ride that is the perfect soundtrack to your 5am end-of-night set.(HERZBLUT03)MINIMAL HOUSE- 1/15/07-GE

The tracks focal point is a jumping analog bassline which is as funky as they come. The Luna City Express mix is all about the dubby head nodding groove. It's the deepest of the three mixes and quite funky to boot, perfect for the late night spliff. Fine Cut Bodies mix skirts the line between Solid Groove / Jesse Rose fidet house and glitched up funk ala  Mossa etc. A great remix package loaded with diverse dancefloor friendly bombs.(FMR05)HOUSE- 1/15/07-GE

ANDY VAZ

WAY BACK WHEN *CLEAR VINYL* (PERSISTENCEBIT) 12  - 100907

Andy Vaz is on something like a roll at the moment. The dust has barely settled on his Persistencebit EPs "Lost & Recovered Data and "First Aid Remixes (by Jan Jelinek, Anthony Shakir, Mapstation, and Krikor no less) and already the Background Records head has another sterling trio of cuts ready for public consumption. "Way Back When" sweetens the deal by arriving in a limited transparent vinyl pressing within a special spot-varnished sleeve. The new EP presents a slightly different Vaz persona than the one heard on the EPs and the full length "Repetitive Moments Last Forever". Whereas those releases showcase a mercurial, future-groove style, the latest material invokes the classic sounds of Detroit techno and Chicago house while also directing its gaze firmly towards the future. That's nowhere more evident than on the A side’s "Day Light Savings" where a glimmering keyboard patterns sunny vibe sets the stage for an old school stomp to gradually emerge from the shadows. Over the course of its seven minutes the tune shifts from classic techno to a free flowing mode closer in spirit to Vaz’s current approach. Three slick locked grooves are provided on this awesome package as well.(VAZBIT012)MINIMAL HOUSE- 1/15/07-GE

KEISUKE KONDO

MULTIPLE PARTITIONEN FIVE (NACHTFREQUENT) 12  - 100908

Nachtfrequent Berlin is always a very interesting label, though they normally take things a bit too expirimental for those looking for dancefloor rockers. This time around, they make an exception. Tokyo's Keisuke Kondo hits HARD with 4 dancefloor killers that fall more in the veins of minimal, but more like DAN BELL old school sensibilities with new school production techniques. Think of the better and bigger BOOGIZM stuff and you would be close. The A-side's cuts are more focused on a groove around house tempo, while on the flip things get a tad faster for peak hours, and the kicks get a bit heavier. Definitely not one to sleep on. Im sure we will be seeing this one on the charts of the entire MINUS camp, as well as ADAM BEYER, PACO OSUNA, or MARCO CAROLLA.(NFRQNT005)HOUSE- 1/15/07-GE

Don't miss the 326 mix by Jamal Moss totally jacked. Flip for "Reminiscence", lush strings and pads that warm the soul while a spaceaged, acidic bassline moves it. Backed with TR-808 drums the instrumentation takes you to a mystical place. Finishing up "Pulsating Through" centers on a throbbing pulsating bassline.(EMP006)TECHNO- 0/00/00-US
